Chapter 55: Break Up

Eleanor’s Pov

Waking up in Liam James’ bed the next day was sort of weird. I mean, if anyone had told me that this was going to happen, I definitely would have ignored it and marked it off my list.

It was more like a fantasy; one that I never thought I’d wake up from.

A ringing sound suddenly jingled my lovey-dovey thoughts away.

Seemed like reality had taken more of the fantasy.

And we were far from being asleep, because natural causes would always wake us up.

“Dammit,”

I looked towards the place the sound came from, 9immediately. It wasn’t my ringtone. Which meant, it was definitely Liam’s. And he was fast asleep, cuddling me so tenderly without even considering or bulging to reach for it.

“Get that… would you?”

I mouthed off, sleepily.

I stretched my hands out, to tug him. It seemed like he was a deep sleeper or was he doing this on purpose.

For a billionaire boss, he slept a lot.

Or could it be just today?

“Urrr…Liam? The phone?”

“Just one moment,”

I froze at his sudden words.

You’ve got to be kidding me. Look who I thought was fast asleep.

“Excuse me?”

“Let me hold you like this for a few minutes, red,” he mysteriously added.

“Please,”

I couldn’t help but curiously do as he said, blushing furiously. His hands were tighter around me, and I felt warmth radiate to me. His naked chest was right against my back, leaning in and his lips kissed the nook of my neck, leaving tingling sensations there.

Couldn’t deny this felt like total bliss. Like I was in safe hands.

It was all like a promise.

And from the way he held me, he made it seem like there was no place I’d rather be. With his muscled and powerful hands holding that way, I had a hard time preventing myself from falling deeply.

Unexpectedly, the phone rang again.

“You should really get that, Lee.”

I said, wriggling out of his hands vehemently this time. His face held a passionate and heated look.

“That could wait, red. How about we do this over and over again?”

He sweetly spoke.

“What about work too? That might be urgent,”

I persistently let out.

I didn’t want whatever it was, we had to affect any of his business affairs.

“Alright then,” he answered, reaching out for the phone. “You are indeed a stubborn and relentless one,”

He clicked the receiver, saying some words to whoever it was.

“Yet you chose me,” I retorted, with a smirk.

I curiously watched as he stood up, stark naked. My eyes widened at his cuddly, soft and sexy looking ass, backed up by his adorable lean waist.

I shrunk my nose, at the erotica state of it, as he walked.

“Put some clothes on, would you?”

I cried out, sitting upright on the bed.

I wondered how he easily got comfortable around me. It’s only being a day and he made it seem like, it had been a couple more.

Wasn’t he protective of himself, at least?

There was absolutely no way I could do that, judging from the way the duvet was safely wrapped around my chest, covering my two babies.

They had to be in safe hands, since he was a few meters apart.

“Admit it, red. You like it just like that,”

He retorted, before going out to the take the call.

My face gave out a surprised expression, with my mouth agape.

“You crazy son-of-a…”

The door immediately slammed shut, before I could wrap up my words.

Thus, I angrily stood up wearing my panties and bra. The next thing was slinging my dress on, and heading for the dresser to shuffle my hair which presently resembled a bird nest.

When I was sure I looked presentable I headed for the door.

I reached to open it, but crazily went back knocking on the bathroom door.

“I’m leaving, Liam! You and your cuddling could suck it!”

I exclaimed, through the door.

“See you by 10 at work, red,”

His muffled tones of mockery, amusingly let out.

“Too bad because your insane deeds aren’t marked as official at work,”

“We’d see about that, dating the fact that I’m the boss, Eleanor. I make the rules,”

He commented.

My hands fisted into balls, cause it looked like he had just won the argument.

Grrr…

Was all I thought as I walked out the door, with my purse.

…

I had to stop at the home I rented, to check on mum before I went to workplace. It seemed like she was more comfortable and happier because our new neighborhood, contained more people.

She had made friends with an elderly woman called, Maggie. And, they had stitching and cooking in common.

I was glad to know she wasn’t going to be lonely while I was at work.

I wore one of the old outfits Margaret had chosen for me, the days I was still the star model. It was purple slim-fit trousers, and a white blazer professional top.

One of Liam’s cars, was parked at the office garage, thus, I guessed he was definitely around.

However, when I got inside Pink Moda, I couldn’t ignore the stares I got from people. Judging from the last humiliation I got, and the amount of paparazzi, no one expected me to ever show up again.

“Oh, my goodness, Eleanor!”

I traced the voice only to see Hardin, making his way to me. It seemed like he was on his way to work too. His style hadn’t changed a bit. Ripped jeans and a spaghetti hand top. There was also that little scarf around his neck, which complimented the outfit overall.

“Hardin, hi! It’s really good to see you, you know,” I stated, as he wrapped me in a friendly hug.

“Had no idea you’d be coming back, girl. You see after what Boss Liam did to star model Jojo, I assumed that was the end of Pink Moda’s light,”

He stated.

“Jojo left?”

“Yes of course, her contract with Pink Moda was terminated one day after you left,” he explained.

“She practically hurled insults and threats, at every single one of us, you know,”

“Wow, that’s so much. Are you okay? How are things around here lately?”

I asked.

I hoped Pink Moda found a competitive replacement, as soon as possible.

“Fairly well, we’re still having issues with choosing our star model though. But since you’re back, you could easily—”

“Oh no! I’m not here for that anymore,”

I let out immediately.

“What?! You’re not here to model? Are you serious?”

“Yeah… I’m filling in the spot as Boss Liam’s assistant for the meantime. That’s till when he’s able to find someone more suitable,”

I said with a chuckle, trying to lighten things up.

“What are you saying, girl? If there’s anyone dedicated who deserves the job in Pink Moda, it’s you.”

“R-Really? Thanks...”

I trailed out.

“Just stating facts, anyway would get to work now. Would catch up with you later, Eleanor,”

He winked, before walking to the elevator, with some of his makeup equipment in his hands.

I smiled sweetly at him.

Now back to Liam.

….

“What did you do? Heard Jojo’s not working with Pink Moda anymore,”

I stated.

The minute I had that conversation with Hardin, I found myself angrily stomping my feet to Liam’s office at the top floor.

“I did the necessary evil. I mean, the night you were drunk, you made it clear she was the cause of your humiliation,”

Liam retorted, sitting with civility and eloquence on his office chair. I stopped in tracks at his words.

“I-I did?”

I stammered, trying to recall how much more words I said that day.

Of all people, why did he have to be there?

“Yes,”

He blanky stated, turning his focus back to a piece of document on his table.

I gritted my teeth. It seemed like he was practically ignoring the fact that I was trying to create tantrums, from him doing that without even consulting me!

“So? Is that enough reason to send her away?”

My hands swayed in directions, asking him.

He didn’t reply my words. Instead, he still focused on the papers, in front of him.

“Well? Are we doing silent treatment now?”

I asked, taking few more steps towards him and standing in front of his office table.

“I did it for you, red,”

He suddenly let out.

I narrowed my eyes at his words.

“For me?”

“Exactly, yes,”

He retorted.

“Who told you to? I don’t like this concept of you doing things for me,”

I folded my hands, before looking the other way.

“Then what do you want? I was trying to make you comfortable because she joked with your career and defamed you,”

“What the hell do you want, woman?!”

He paranoidly let out, asking me.

I sighed at his tone, before replying.

“To quit doing things for me! I’m not some charity case you can help anytime, Liam. I got this, I can handle things myself,”

“Just like the way you did? You were barely handling things, red. I mean look at you that day. They all swooned over you and you didn’t even make a move to do anything,”

“Don’t judge what I do, Liam. Cause you have no idea why I did any of those!”

I defended immediately.

“Then why did you? Why couldn’t you stand up for yourself, red?”

“That’s what we do. Our world isn’t just about taking in blows from business partners. It’s all about staying and fighting, you know,”

He stated, adding.

“I’m sorry? What did you just say, Liam? Well I’m sorry I don’t fit into your rich billionaire lifestyle and was born a pauper,”

I retorted immediately, already fuming in anger.

What did he even mean by that?

“Who said anything about that? You see, what I’m talking about now? You never listen to anyone, red,”

Liam heatedly let out, with his hands demonstrating and standing up from his chair.

“You’re practically insinuating that, Liam. And I’m tired of all this. Maybe this was a mistake!”

“Maybe you need someone else, not me, Liam. Perhaps some rich model like Leah or Jojo herself, who fits into all of this. Someone Big James would surely approve,” “Someone with style, and not me, a nobody. You see I’m nothing without Nikki Fox, you know,”

I bitterly said, with a lot of hurt.

“I’m just a lowly bankrupt person, with nothing to her name. And it seems this is where I’m meant to be and that is where you’re supposed to be,”

I added unbelievably.

“W-What are you even talking about, Eleanor? What are you insinuating?”

“I’m breaking this up, Liam.”

I could swear those words broke me, the instant I let it out of my mouth.

I had no notion I could do this, just a few moments from when it started.

But maybe this was the only way out.

I mean, we met by accident. I couldn’t imagine we could ever know each other, like we did, if not of that slight little error.

“Y-You’re breaking this? You’re giving u-up on us?”

He wriggled his brows, walking up to me, saying.

“I’m afraid yes, Liam.”

“B-But we’ve barely been together for a week, Eleanor. Why would you choose to break things up now?”

“And why you give up, for hell’s sake?!”

“I insult you Liam, that’s why! Every damn time… And y-you? You don’t even act like I do,”

I muttered, unable to grasp it all.

“Instead, you ignore it and treat me right, why?”

He took my hands in his, but I instantly yanked it away.

“I thought we are past this, Eleanor. I told you, I’m not one of those people that walks out after a dumb statement is being made. I’ll always believe in fixing things,”

Liam smartly retorted.

Lord help me, who did I fall for?

Was this the same person I marked as being arrogant in the past?

“Staying and fixing things.” he added. “That’s how to make all this work. Believe me, that’s how,”

To some extent, he almost convinced me.

But I was really determined.

Ever since I’ve known the almighty Liam James, it seemed like I only got into lots of trouble. My every day life was practically a drama, and could be used as a movie script.

“I’m sorry but I can’t do that, Liam. I can’t keep getting into these amount of distress, 24 hours a day,”
