Chapter 48: 48. Ruthless and Relentless
Liam’s Pov
Red was certainly someone with an odd and eccentric pattern of thinking. She refused my every move to help her, no matter what I did. It was like she wanted nothing to do with me or my money and I wasn’t surprised.
This wasn’t the first, second or third time. If possible, I could make it a zillion times, because this was her personality. It was what defined the fiery type of woman she was. What sizzled and burned me.
And, I could only admire it.
Judging from how she returned the money I gave her on our first day of meeting, it was obvious she wasn’t a gold digger. Last night was an unexpected turn of events. I certainly didn’t foresee her getting drunk, neither could I have predicted what came after.
I remembered her words, “Cheers to the Almighty Liam James, my life is in shambles. If it wasn’t because of you, that model Jojo wouldn’t have set me up today,”
Model Jojo.
Was that bimbo responsible for all of this?
I remembered making sure that everything that had happened in Mexico, died down there. I had pressed numerous tabs, just to hide that from the world. I knew even though red wasn’t guilty, it could ruin her celebrity career.
And definitely, it sure took more than a normal turn of events, for things to spill out this way. I was absolute that it was someone who wanted to bring her down. Someone who she had a past clash with. That had unknowingly threatened her.
I snarled at the thought of it being Jojo, fisting my hands into a ball. Eleanor didn’t deserve all of that. And I didn’t for once doubt her, because I was the one there to witness everything.
I knew Big James.
He was the one who birthed me, so I knew his attributes.
There a significant reason neither me nor Jackson spoke, to step in and defend her. My father was a ruthless and relentless man. Whenever someone got on his nerves, he didn’t stop till the person had been embarrassed and brought down totally.
Thus, I didn’t want him taunting Eleanor and frustrating her, after I stood up for her. Jackson knew this too. This was why we both watched his steps, then carefully retraced it. It was at the last moment, I stepped in for Eleanor.
Jackson felt I should be the one to help. He wanted me to go get the girl.
I sighed and gritted my teeth, reaching for a bottle in the mini-bar just at the corner of the spacious living room. I poured the drink into a wine glass. I gulped at the sight of the it, that instant.
It reminded me of last night, once more.
Suddenly a recap of red passing out, imprinted in my head. I smirked, looking through the glass, with my mind fogged with the thought of her.
“Breaking her rules of never falling for a rich man.” I said, out to myself. I wondered if my red was beginning to admire me. Had she fallen for me? I remembered her swearing not to ever fall for me and her professing of her hatred to me, back at Mexico.
Could it be that she was finally beginning to give in to Liam James’ charms?
There was only one way to find out.
…
Eleanor’s Pov
I woke up only to see two blurry figures, moving. An unnerving sunlight hit my face, which made me groan out. I stood up stretching and yawning. My eyes bolted, the instant I came to a realization.
Where was I?
“No, no, no. Not this! This is all too cliché.” I muttered to myself, hitting the bed. While I did that, my hands came in contact with a silky and soft cloth. My eyes directed to what I was wearing that instant.
Whatever it was, it sure smelled expensive and it creeped me out by the minute. An unfamiliar lingerie piece, which suited me so well like it was made personally for me. I screamed out in terror.
The two figures directly at the front, who I noticed were females, came rushing to me. They were clothed in a black and white maid uniform, which was paired with a white designer sock and black flats. On their faces, was a warm smile imprinted, with their sets of teeth, glistening directly at me.
Could someone tell me how not to piss of in this?
“Where am I?!” I exclaimed, asking them and also freaking out. A migraine hit my head, which made me reach out for my head trying to sooth it.
“You need to relax, ma’am. You’re in safe hands. The Young Master assigned us to take care of your needs,” One uttered. I sighed, wondering what was happening here.
My head indeed hurt and I found it hard remembering anything that happened yesterday.
“Young Master? Look, there is no need to try to sell my kidney or kidnap me. My body system is not healthy and if this is kidnapping, I assure you, no one will come for me.” I said, standing on the bed and directing one of the pillows to them, in a threatening stance.
Okay, who threatens with a pillow, Eleanor?
“How outrageous! This is certainly not kidnapping, I guarantee you. Our Young Master is rich enough to get whatever he wants.” The other female uttered.
My heart thudded in fast paces at the mention of that Young Master, once more. My index fingers directed toward them, as I braced myself up.
“Who is the Young Master?” I asked, cringing my brows.
“Young Master Liam, the heir to the James empire. You should be happy, ma’am. He took care of you the night before. Boss didn’t retire for the night because you were unwell. He didn’t rest, until you fell asleep,” The other mentioned.
My mind lurked to several things that minute. It made me wonder if we were talking about the same Liam here.
Anyway, the necessity was the mother of invention…So, first things first.
“Where are my things?” I asked them, with my mind drifting as to who changed me. They immediately scurried off to do what I had asked.
…
I changed into my clothes, in that same room, after they had given me my stuff. As I did gather my things, flashbacks from last night sprung into my head.
“To…think… we... were all tooth and claws with each other when we the first day of our meeting.”
“Now…you…” I had trailed out.
“…broke all my rules of never falling for a rich man.” I muttered before passing out.
My days! I said all of that?
My hands immediately clasped around my mouth, while I facepalmed myself. I sat on the floor dramatically, wishing the floor would swallow me.
“I’m so ruined, I’m so ruined,” I groaned out sadly, to my sorry state.
…
I certainly had been hoping to sneak out of Liam James’ house unnoticed. I didn’t want to see him after what happened last night. I remember particularly telling the maids to be on a look out for me.
I specially asked them where Liam was situated, so I was going to end up missing him. I know, I’m a little ungrateful b*tch for not show some gratitude, about last night.
It wasn’t like I didn’t want to.
I just didn’t know how to confront him, after that absurd I remembered, letting out from my mouth.
I removed my shoe, holding it in my hands. My bag was on the other and I peeked at the sitting room. When I noticed no one was in sight, I quickly scurried to the entrance door. It was far off because of the big mansion, but I hoped to somehow go unnoticed.
Just as my hands reached to open the door, I froze at the malicious footsteps of the almighty Liam James, behind me.
“Going somewhere, little red?” A throaty whisper, chuckled out, with a tone of mockery.
