Chapter 88

When the conversation with Jude ended and they decided everything about Evangeline’s new job, the redhead left the school building, feeling nostalgic. She had her head in the clouds, thinking about everything that was happening in her life, which she did not even notice in the car and the man standing before her.

Alec had to give her a whistle to stop and notice her presence.

"Love!" Evie spins in the small jump she used and hurries to hug him. "What longing.”

"A month to move in was too much. Don’t you think?”

"No." she murmurs, scraping her lips into his. "This made my longing for you, make me climb the walls.”

"Don’t talk like that... even more leaning on me like that.”

The reaction Evangeline caused in Alec’s body was instantaneous. As she felt the volume in the middle of her beloved’s legs, she laughed and moved away a little.

"Sorry!”

"Ah, come on." he holds it in his hand and pulls it to his arms again. "Later we solve it, for now, we go to dinner. You have a lot to tell me. By the way... where’s the watch I sent you and Allegra?”

"Dinner? But I left Allegra at home with Felippa. Shouldn’t we go there?”

"Yes, but..." Alec seeks an excuse. The plans he had for that night did not include dinner in the presence of a child. "I’m sure Felippa won’t mind. When I left home, Howard was on his way to meet her.”

"All right. Let’s have dinner. I’ll send a message to Felippa. And about the clock, I don’t like to be marking my steps. Allegra loves. She’s not going anywhere without that neon watch on her wrist.”

Alec opens the door to Evangeline. As he turns around to take the wheel, Evie writes a quick message telling her where she’s going and that if she has a problem, just call her.

The restaurant was in a rich neighborhood, leading the place to be extremely chic. Evangeline was wearing jeans and a social blouse with buttons, as she had a business meeting and imagined coming home later.

"You love to take me in a chic place, when I’m looking like a beggar." she murmurs, feeling the looks of some women.

"You’re beautiful, Evangeline. Stop it.”

They occupy a table in the center of the restaurant and when the redhead thinks of looking at the menu, Alec pulls him and says that everything is already resolved.

"Ah..." Evie says. "The meeting to work at the music school was great! Jude introduced me to several teachers and new directors, and all were very friendly and welcoming. Since the school went through a renovation this year, they showed me the school facilities and I was impressed by the quality of the equipment and classrooms.”

As Evangeline talked excitedly about the meeting at the music school, Alec couldn’t take his eyes off her. His facial expression denoted a deep and intense passion for the woman in front of him. He admired the beauty of her smile and the way she moved her hands as she spoke.

Every word of Evangeline seemed to be a song to her ears, he wondered how wonderful it would be to hear her play the violin again. Alec was completely enchanted by Evangeline and couldn’t help but look in love at her. Her eyes shone brightly and her heart quickened with her mere presence.

"Marry me?" he asks, suddenly.

"What?”

Alec had spoken so fast that Evangeline was not sure what he had heard. He pulled the velvet box out of his pocket, opened it and placed it on the table, leaving a diamond ring exposed.

"Alec..." she whispers emotionally, staring at the ring. "You...”

The mobster pushed the chair, causing a loud, annoying noise that caught the attention of half the restaurant. He knelt before Evangeline, took the box and looked into her green, damp eyes.

"Evangeline, I love you more than anything in this world. You are the light of my life, my safe haven and my soul mate. From the moment I met you, I knew you were the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with." she smiles, with tears running down her face. "I want to walk beside you, face all the challenges together and share all the wonderful moments that are yet to come. I want you to be my life partner, my best friend, my confidant and my eternal love. Evangeline, my question is simple: do you want to marry me? Do you want to share your life with me, be my wife, raise our daughter and a future together?”

Alec looked at Evangeline with anxious and loving eyes, waiting for his answer with his heart pounding in his chest. He knew that life next to her would be filled with love and happiness, and he was determined to do everything he could to make it happen.

"Yes..." Evie murmurs, also dragging the chair and kneeling before Alec. "Marrying you is all I want. Yes!”

He hugged her tightly, feeling his heart overflowing with happiness and relief, and kissed her with tenderness and passion.

The kiss was soft and full of affection, conveying all the love and admiration that Alec felt for Evangeline. Her lips touched softly and delicately, exploring every inch of each other in an exchange of affection and complicity.

They separated from the kiss, but still kept their bodies glued together, looking at each other with a silly smile on their face. After putting the shiny ring on Evangeline’s finger, Alec stroked her face with his hands and said:

"I love you, Evangeline. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Evangeline responded with a passionate kiss, sealing the commitment of love and unity they had just assumed. The two knew they had found the perfect person to walk side by side for the rest of their lives.
