Chapter 84

Chapter Eighty-Five:

"What's this?" Emily asked, eyeing the man suspiciously.

"It's a contract," the man replied. "You and Ethan are married by contract, but the contract has been terminated."

Emily's heart sank. "What do you mean terminated?"

"It means that the contract is no longer valid," the man said, handing her the document.

Emily skimmed through it, her heart racing as she realized what had happened. "Who did this?"

The man shrugged. "I'm just the messenger. But I can tell you that the termination was authorized by Mr. Victor Black."

Emily's hands shook as she realized that Victor had been one step ahead of them all along. He had found a way to break their marriage contract and take away their security.

Ethan took the document from her and read through it. "We'll fight this," he said, his jaw clenched. "We'll take him to court and make sure he pays for what he's done."

Emily nodded, feeling a surge of anger and determination. Victor may have taken away their contract, but he would never take away their love and commitment to each other.

As they prepared for their legal battle, Emily and Ethan worked tirelessly, gathering evidence and building their case. They spent long nights pouring over legal documents, and Emily even took self-defense classes, determined to be prepared for any situation.

Finally, the day of the trial arrived. Emily and Ethan walked into the courtroom, their heads held high. They were ready to face Victor and his lawyers, and they were ready to fight for their love and their future.

The trial lasted for weeks, with witness testimonies, cross-examinations, and heated arguments. But in the end, justice prevailed. Victor was found guilty of fraud and breach of contract, and Emily and Ethan's marriage was reinstated.

As they walked out of the courthouse, hand in hand, Emily felt a sense of relief wash over her. They had won, and they had proven that love could conquer even the most challenging obstacles.

But the victory was bittersweet. They had lost a sense of security and trust, and they knew that they would always have to be cautious. But they also knew that they had each other, and that was all they needed.

"We did it," Emily said, leaning into Ethan's shoulder.

"We did," Ethan replied, kissing the top of her head. "And we'll always do it together."

However, their victory was short-lived. As they reached their car, a group of men surrounded them. Emily's heart raced as she recognized them as Victor's goons.

"What do you want?" Ethan demanded, taking a protective stance in front of Emily.

One of the men sneered. "Mr. Black sends his regards," he said before lunging towards Ethan.

Ethan managed to take down two of the men, but the others overpowered him, and Emily was left defenseless. As she saw one of the men reach for her, she closed her eyes, bracing herself for impact.

But the impact never came. Instead, she heard the sound of flesh hitting flesh and opened her eyes to see a figure in black taking down the remaining goons.

"Are you alright?" the figure asked, extending a hand to help her up.

Emily nodded, still in shock. "Who are you?"

"I'm a friend," the figure said, before disappearing into the night.

Emily and Ethan exchanged a bewildered look. They didn't know who that person was, but they knew that they had been saved. And whoever it was, they were grateful.

As they drove home, Emily couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. Victor was still out there, and they didn't know what he was capable of. They needed to be more careful than ever.

The next few days passed without any incident, and Emily and Ethan started to let their guard down. But on the fourth day, as they were having dinner at a restaurant, they heard a loud explosion outside.

People started screaming and running, and Emily and Ethan knew that they had to get out of there. As they made their way toward the exit, they saw a man in a mask blocking their path.

"Move," Ethan said, trying to push past him.

The man laughed. "You think it's that easy? Mr. Black sends his regards."

Emily and Ethan exchanged a look, their hearts sinking as they realized that Victor had found them. They had nowhere to run and no one to help them.

But just as the man was about to attack them, a group of people in black appeared out of nowhere, taking down the attacker and whisking Emily and Ethan to safety.

"Who are you, people?" Ethan asked, panting and out of breath.

"We're the Black Knights," one of them said, before disappearing into the night.

Emily and Ethan were left standing there, bewildered and amazed. They didn't know who these people were, but they knew that they had just saved their lives.

As they drove home, Emily couldn't shake off the feeling of dread. Victor was still out there, and he was more determined than ever to destroy them. They needed to find a way to stop him, and fast.

The next few days were a blur of activity as Emily and Ethan worked tirelessly to track down Victor and bring him to justice. They gathered evidence, spoke to informants, and even went undercover to get closer to him.

Finally, they found what they were looking for. They discovered that Victor had been involved in a massive fraud scheme, and they had the evidence to bring him down.

As they walked into the courthouse once again, Emily and Ethan knew that this was it. This was the moment that they had been working towards. They were going to make Victor pay for what he had done.

The trial was long and grueling, but in the end, justice prevailed. Victor was found guilty on all charges, and he was sentenced to life in prison.

As they walked out of the courthouse, Emily and Ethan breathed a sigh of relief. They had won, and they had finally put an end to Victor's reign of terror.
