Chapter 61: Chapter 61
Caspian POV
“Caspian, are you sleeping with her?”
I glanced at my door, while Grey swivelled around to see who had intruded on our discussion without a knock.
Grey whistled when he saw Elara, and I could almost pick his thought immediately.
“Grey.” Elara greeted him with a brisk nod, while she walked towards my large desk.
Hell, if she wasn't my sister, I might have considered the exact thought Grey had going on in his head.
Wearing my most beautiful smile, I rose to receive her hug.
“Who might you be referring to, kiddo?”
I almost swore I saw her cringe, and that gave me some sort of elation.
“The lady who showed me to my office.” She said,
“Tasha? My secretary?” I asked, clearly astounded.
“Oh. She's even just a secretary. She's a pack of trouble, giving all that directives like she was learning the art of takeover.” She mused aloud.
“Pardon her. She's like that at times. Somewhat authoritative.” I said, motioning her to a seat.
“You still didn't answer my question. Is she one of your conquests?”
Smiling, I said. “As much as Tasha would want that to be true so badly, I'm afraid not yet.”
“Not yet?” Elara drawled incredulously, her beautiful lips pouting upwards in the process. “It means you're considering it.”
“Who wouldn't? Especially with how she looks.” I said.
“Caspian!” She barked. “She's your staff.”
“Who says a boss can't have his way when the staff is willing?” I asked.
Exasperated, she sank back on her seat with a sigh. “Suit yourself.”
“Of course.” I drew sweetly.
“Is this why you came to see your handsome brother?” I queried, my eyes crinkled at the side, glowed with mischief.
“Besides the fact that I hadn't seen you in three days, I wanted to be sure there was no mistake in your instructions to your secretary.” She emphasized the last word…secretary.
Feigning ignorance, I questioned. “Mistake? What mistake?”
“The board meeting. I was supposed to be there, remember? But she informed me I had other things to do instead, which if I still remember how the corporate world works was supposed to be her duty.” She informed me.
“Ah. I see… But you see, as much as I would have loved you to be at the meeting Elara, certain standards cannot be compromised. You were away for three years… or was it four? I needed to feel the board out first to see how they'll react to your returning. And at the moment, they're still under deliberation. You need to convince them a lot that you're not fickle, okay?”
“Um...Whao! I didn't know I was under such ridiculous scrutiny.” She quibbed, her eyes blazing with anger.
“You have to understand, kiddo. Even as the head of the board, I can't do things rashly.”
“So, why didn't you inform me about this new development sooner?” She challenged.
Assuming an hurt expression, I defended myself. “But I did.”
“For godsake, how?” Elara cried, clearly pissed.
“My secretary, remember?”
She slumped into her seat. “Ah. I suppose you did. I might as well assume the office too wasn't a mistake.”
“What can I do, Elara. For now, you work directly under Tasha. It's her jurisdiction. I don't have much to say about the matter.” I let out slowly.
“Just so you know. Not for long. I'm sure going to prove it” She hissed angrily, rising to her feet to stomp out of my office.
While Grey still drooled over the empty doorway which she just escaped from, I noticed how sleazy his gaze had been.
“She's damn hot. Hotter than I remembered.” Grey exhaled.
“Stop ogling my sister.” I snapped.
“As if.” He returned, not taking his eyes off the doorway.
“Grey, I need you to speed things up with the Sussex office. Didn't they say they were sending someone over?”
When he didn't respond, I banged hard on my desk catching his attention finally.
“Uh… what did you say, man?” He inquired.
“Fuck you.” I growled.
“You won't blame me, Caspian. She's gorgeous. Curvy… extremely curvy, with a small waist.”
At his description, my dick immediately hardened, and I swallowed a moan.
Although my erection was perfectly hidden behind my desk, Grey didn't miss the desire in my eyes.
“You want her too, don't you? Even more than your secretary.”
“She's my sister.” I let out angrily.
“If you say that one more time, I swear I'll deck you.” Grey spat
“Inform my club to make preparations for me.” I snapped.
“Does this have anything to do with the bitch you met the last time?” Grey inquired.
“Mind your goddamn business and get out of my office.” I growled.
A smile crept up Grey's face, before he said. “As you wish, boss.”
Then he headed to the door, swung it open to meet Tasha's ashen face by the doorway.
As soon as Grey stepped out, she walked in, and shut the door. However, she didn't do that alone. She pulled the lock in too.
“What's this?” I rasped, fingering the sleeves of my neatly pressed shirt.
I rose to go unlock the door immediately, then, I noticed her eyes. They were on me, but not on my face like she always did fawn on me, but downwards.
“Except you're into men, I'm sure that isn't as a result of Grey being here.” She whizzed softly.
Stopping just short of her. I gnarled. “I think it's time I put you in your place, Tasha. As much as I've overlooked your advances, it doesn't mean you now have the right to speak before I ask you to. Try it again, and I'll fire you.”
She shivered from fear I supposed. But there was something else in her eyes. Determination.
“Not until I've got what I want.” She muttered slowly.
Drawing a frown, I croaked. “What's that supposed to mean?”
“Caspian…”
Blanching from the raw nonchalance I saw from her expression, I raised my brows for her to continue wondering where her boldness suddenly sprang from.
