Nelson's POV
Dumbfounded,my eyes flickered as I stared at Conri, so many thoughts traveled through my head and I was still trying to figure out if he was lying or not. The whole explanation wasn't making total sense to me and it seems very unbelievable.
"You are making this up Conri" I let out adamantly, unable to believe him.
A look of surprise appeared on his face, his brows furrowed at me, "You don't believe me Nelson?"
"Of course I don't!" I asserted strongly, shaking my head, "How do you expect me to believe such a ridiculous lie? Huh? Tell me!" A sharp pain struck me so hard reminding me of the situation I am in. I tightened my eyes as I bit my lower lip trying to hide the pain from Conri.
"You still need to rest," he said with an expressionless face.
"I am fine," I noted sternly.
"Still as stubborn as always. Your idea led you into this situation and now that I am telling you who your savior is, you think I am making this up. Why on Earth will I make such a habit?"
"You did, Conri! Stop lying, I am not stupid!' I quickly replied as a feeling of great uncertainty filled me, "I have always known that you wanted me for Melissa, you have always spoken good about her wherever we are together, do you think I am crazy enough to know that she saved my life? Someone that can't even save herself? How the hell is this possible?! Speak up and tell me! She isn't a werewolf, and before you walk up to me telling this cock and bull story, let me ask you, if it's true that she did save me, how the hell did she figure out where I was or know that I am in need of help? How did she even leave the pack without any of the guards noticing, this is very unbelievable Conri, next time, you better check your story well before you try to throw them at me!" I said pouring out my heart.
At first, Conri didn't say a word, he watched me with keen sharp eyes, a disappointed look on his face.
"You are scared Nelson," he said to my surprise.
Slowly, I gazed at him with a narrowed gaze feeling very puzzled, "Scared? Why on Earth do you think I am scared? For what exactly am I afraid of?"
"You are afraid to admit it that indeed Melissa save your life, your ego will be so badly hurt by it, that's why you are trying hard not to believe this, I know you too well Nelson, your facial expressions never lies to me man" he raised a brow affirming strongly while I stared at him shocked at his words.
I scoffed.
"You are a joker Conri"
"I am not"
"Yes you are" I glanced at him and a smirk appeared on my lips, "You saved me not Melissa. I have watched Melissa almost get killed twice and she didn't do anything to save herself other than to stare at her killer with scared eyes. Someone who can't Ave herself, how is it possible for her to save me…"I chuckled, "Don't take me for a fool Conri, I might be injured but that didn't affect my brain"
Conri didn't look pleased at my words at all.
"Why do you think I am making this up Nelson?"
"I do because you are Conri,it's so obvious,stop the lies"
He took some steps closer to me, "You just believe me, the news is all over the pack. It's best you find a way to thank her for saving your life and stop doubting my words…."
The door of the room opened and footsteps were heard. I narrowed my gaze and was surprised to find Viviana who had a worried look on her face.
"Oh dear" she said quickly, taking a seat close to me,her eyes scanning my body as she held my hand looking deeply concerned.
"Thank goodness you are alive Nelson, when I heard the news, I rushed down here only to find out that you are still unconscious. You are awake now…"she passed, glanced at Conri who stood watching us without saying a word, "I was so scared when I heard what happened to you down the woods. I warned you Nelson, I talked you into going there alone but you insisted and went there on your own accord. Now, see the result of your stubbornness, a decision that almost made me lose the love of my life"
I smiled hearing her words but I couldn't help but feel a weird feeling which overwhelmed me the moment she held my hand. My eyes left her face and rested on her fingers which stroked mine gently, I couldn't let go of her hand, I held onto it wondering why I felt so strange.
"I am fine Vivinana, you don't have to worry yourself about me. All thanks to Control who saved me, you can never lose me Viviana, never! You are for me and I am for you too. We are both for each other and this a relationship that is meant to stay for life, wipe that worried look off your face and your gratitude should be on Conri who is indeed my Beta and savior"
A frown appeared on Viviana's face, "Conri saved you?" She asked with a squeezed forehead.
"Sure he did" I nodded, "He is right here, you can ask him" I pointed at Conri who still didn't look happy.
Viviana gazed up at Conri and back at me, her forehead furrowed In confusion, "Conri isn't the one who saved you Nelson,your savior is no one else but Melissa, the news is all over the pack" she pointed out with so much seriousness.
My jaw dropped at her words, never have I seen Viviana so affirmative about something and not just anything, but a topic that has to deal with Melissa whom I know she despises so much.
"Melissa?" I muttered finding it difficult to let the words out.
"Yes! Melissa! The news is all over the pack that she saved you by finding you before Conri did…" a look of jealousy appeared deep inside her eyes, "Now, the rest of the pack is saying so many good things about her, finally, your human bride has won the hearts of your subjects leaving me with pure nothing"
I looked up at Conri who gave me the 'I told you look' shocked, I sat still very dumbfounded concerning the revelation.
I know Viviana too well, she can't make this up not regarding the fact that she hates Melissa. Or did Conri convince her into this? No way! Not possible! Right from our childhood days, they have never been friends. I know that Conri doesn't support my affair with Viviana even with my intended marriage with Melissa whom.sue sees as her rival.
"I guess you now believe me no huh?" Conri broke the silence raising a brow and I looked at him.
"I told you minutes ago who your savior is but you totally rejected it seeing it as something impossible, something I came up with but now,I am sure that by hearing from your lover's mouth, you can affirm that this is nothing but the truth" I heard Conri say but I was lost in thoughts, my eyes flickered around non stop and the whole thing was about to drive me crazy.
I could still feel Viviana's thumb caressing the back of my hand, it felt so warm but that still didn't matter at that point but at the realization that indeed, Melissa did save me.
"This is impossible" I muttered almost in a whisper but my words were clear enough for them to hear.
"Not possible!"
"Who is she?"
"Come on! Tell me who the hell she is and how she saved me! This is ridiculous!" I poundered out very pissed as I tried so hard to maintain my posture.
"She can't even save herself! How was she able to find me!"
"She is a human! An ordinary being with no Werewolf powers like us! How was she able to know the location I was and we are not even in good terms for her to save me? What made her do so?..." I stared into Viviana's angry eyes,"How is this possible? It's so hard to believe, Melissa didn't save me! An ordinary human can't, it's a complete disgrace to my ego as the next Alpha of the pack!" I blurted with so much anger, my blood ran violently through my veins.
"You have to calm down Nelson" I heard Conri say, Viviana didn't say a word but watched me. I know how angry she is about this fact but she is trying to keep still because of the presence of Conri and at that moment, I totally thanked him knowing how paranoid Viviana is.
Taking a deep loud sigh, I was about to lose it and my head began to pound so loud inside my head due to the excessive thinking of the truth.
"You need to rest, we will talk better later"Conri said and without waiting for a reply, he left me with Viviana who looked like she was about to explode her heart out.
"Nelson, you…"
"Enough Viviana!" I quickly cut her short, "As you can see, I am not in a good mood for any words right now. I will have to fix this as soon as I am out of this mess,yes I will,I will!.
