Chapter 132

She went on to explain that we will be split into groups, and whichever group we fall into is the dorm we are going to stay in. She also explained that this was also going on in other dorms and there are high chances that our new dorm mates would be from other dorms.

"One more news," she said. "Your maids will be taken away from you."

That announcement made the hall noisy again. Miss Miranda raised her hand and silence returned.

"You can go around with the basket," she told the two women with her.

The women took two baskets and began to walk around with them so we could pick a paper from each. The first basket was the one that was brought to our side. Ashley, Pearl, and Tiffany were allowed to pick from the basket, but when I tried to pick, she stopped me.

"It's not for you," she said and walked away.

I stared at her in confusion. Why am I choosing from a different basket?

"Do you think he is the one who made that rule?" Tiffany whispered to me.

"Maybe he is," I whispered back. "But I can't say."

The woman with the other basket walked to us, and I tried to pick from her basket, but she stopped me.

"This is not for you either," she answered and walked away.

I moved backward a bit almost losing my balance. It was becoming scary, and it wasn't funny anymore.

Tiffany held me quickly. "Are you okay?"

I nodded feeling so tired. I was scared of the unknown.

"You can open your papers now," Miss Miranda said and everyone began to open their papers. "Group one should fall to the right and group two to the left now!"

Everyone began to move quickly, and in less than two minutes, five other girls and I were the only ones left in the middle.

Miss Miranda spoke to the other two women and they each went to join a group. Miss Miranda announced that for the six of us left, she would be our dorm master. I was very happy to be in her dorm, although my friends belong to different dorms.

Each of the women led their group out of the hall leaving the six of us and Miss Miranda. She asked us to follow her to the other halls.

By the time we were done moving from one hall to another, we were about twenty-five girls.

Miss Miranda had a brief meeting with us before sending us to our different classes. I walked into the class feeling down. Miss Miranda's words had touched me and I could tell that my stay here was going to be hectic.

"Karen, over here," Ashley called out to me.

I smiled weakly at her and walked towards her. As I walked past some students, they began to murmur.

"Isn't she one of the abnormal students?" One of the students asked.

"You mean the students with abnormal powers?" Another asked.

"They are called the Unusuals and not abnormal students as you think," a student answered. "You shouldn't call them that."

"Whatever," the first girl said. "I heard they are very dangerous. You can't speak or make friends with them."

"Isn't that her friend?" A boy asked. "I don't think she knows who her friend is yet."

I took a deep breath. I still don't know why I was asked to join the students with abnormal powers.

Miss Miranda only told me I had to join because I am a werewolf and not a Demon. Pearl is a werewolf too, but she was allowed to join other normal groups, while I was treated as not being normal.

I ignored the students' side talks and walked up to Ashley. Ashley did not say a word to me. She only held my hand and placed my head on her shoulder, while caressing my hair.

I closed my eyes feeling better. She does know what I need right now.

"Another abnormal student is in our class!" Someone yelled and I opened my eyes.

It was a female student I had noticed while we were with Miss Miranda. She was so quiet and stayed a distance away from us despite being part of us. I was drawn to her the moment I saw her but her attitude made me stay away.

She walked in quietly, ignoring every word said by other students. She went to the last seat at the back and sat down.

"She does know her place," a student said.

"Unlike the first one who thinks she can sit anywhere she likes," another answered.

They were talking about me; I knew that but I ignored them.

A boy stood up and walked up to Ashley. "I don't think you know yet. Your friend is an abnormal stu..."

"And how is that your business?!" Ashley yelled at him.

He smiled. "Hey, chill. I am just trying to help you."

"You can as well help yourself," Ashley answered.

"I guess you are weird too," he murmured walking away.

How long would Ashley be able to stick with me?

"Thank you, Ashley," I whispered.

She smiled. "I might not be able to protect you in your dorm but every other place I can, I will."

I smiled again. Is this what it feels like to have a friend who can protect you?

Ashley reminded me so much of Luella and I began to miss her. I remembered I had her necklace in my bag. I thought about holding it once more when I returned to my room.

Ashley tapped me. "What are you thinking about?"

"A friend I miss. She used to be my best friend before I left my Pack."

"You must miss her so much to remember her."

I nodded. "You reminded me so much of her."

"Can you tell me what she is like?"

"She... "

"Good morning students." I looked up to see a woman in glasses, holding some books.

"Good morning, ma'am," we answered.

She introduced herself as Miss Rita, our mathematics teacher and also our homeroom teacher. She asked us to introduce ourselves and the group we belong to.

I felt uneasy about it and wished I did not have to say it.

She also asked us to tell her what powers we possess. That made matters worse because I do not know what powers I possess.

One after the other, every student stood up to say their names, the group they belong to, and what their powers are.

For all group one, they had only one power, though it differed between them, and for group two, they had either two or three. Some group two members are also hybrids.

When it got to my turn, I stood up and everyone began to laugh. I was scared and angry at the same time but I kept my cool. I went on to introduce myself and my group.

The woman stared at me strangely but quickly concealed it.

"What are your powers?" She asked and I shook my head.

"I don't know."

The students began to laugh again, and I felt like the ground should open up and swallow me.
