Chapter 119

I woke up feeling no pain, and my wounds were completely healed, but I decided I wasn't going to go for breakfast.

I wasn't ready to face them yet. I wasn't ready to hear them mock me.

Kath came at six to clean the room and when she saw me feeling okay, she couldn't hide her surprise.

"Did you heal up?"

"I guess I did. Let me have the food timetable so I can fill in what I want for breakfast."

I wasn't going to tell Kath how it happened which was the reason I changed the topic. Kath seems to have understood that too; she did not try to press further. Instead, she handed over the timetable to me. I filled it up and handed it over to her.

"I am still going to have my breakfast in the room."

She nodded and left the room. While I waited for Kath, I decided to call Pearl and ask if they had left the house already.

"Yes," Pearl answered. "We are on our way."

"Hi, Karen," I heard Evelyn's voice.

"Hi, Evelyn. It's been a while."

"Yeah, I know," Evelyn answered. "We will be seeing you in a few hours."

"I can't wait to see you two," I answered.

"I heard you got a punishment," Pearl said.

"How did you know that?"

"I told them," I heard Nathan's voice. "Lucian told me."

"Hi, Nathan."

"Hi, Karen. Do you feel better now? He told me you got flogged."

I rolled my eyes slightly. "Yes, I was. And trust me ..., it wasn't a pleasant experience."

"I can tell. But do you feel better now?" Nathan asked.

"I do. The pain has subsided."

"Good to hear that," Nathan answered.

I went on to talk to Pearl about what had happened; Nathan did not tell her much about it.

"So what do you plan to do?" She asked.

"Get revenge?"

"You really need to do that," Evelyn answered and I smiled.

We all seem to be getting ruthless now.

"Any plan on how to do that?" Pearl asked.

"I don't have any plans yet, but trust me, I am going to give them the taste of their own medicine."

Although I have completely healed up, I cannot forget what I went through for the few hours the pain lasted.

"That sounds like Lucian. Are you already becoming like him?" Nathan asked.

It sounded more like a joke; I smiled. "I guess I am."

Pearl and I talked about a few more things before I finally ended the call. I dropped my phone on the table and picked up a book to read, while I waited for Kath's return.

I heard a knock on the door and that made me drop my book.

"Kath? You can come in."

"It's not Kath. It's Ashley," I heard.

Ashley? Why is she here?

"Can I come in?" She asked.

"Sure, you can."

The door opened and Ashley walked in. She waved slightly.

"Hi."

"Hi." I waved back.

"I couldn't come to see you yesterday. How are your wounds?"

"Thank you, Ashley. I feel better now. Do you want to stay for a few minutes?"

She nodded. "Can I?"

"Of course you can. Come sit with me." I gestured.

Ashley moved closer to me and sat down. I stood up from the bed to offer her something to drink.

"Would you like some juice?"

"You seem to have healed up completely," Ashley said. "You are standing upright."

I nodded. "I..."

I heard a knock on the door. "Kath?"

"It's Tiffany. Can I come in?"

Tiffany?

I smiled. "Sure."

Tiffany opened the door and entered the room.

"Oh my darling. How is your..." She paused and stared at me. "Were you not flogged? I heard you were. Why do you look okay?"

"I was just asking about that," Ashley answered.

I explained to them that some werewolves have healing powers and I am one of them, which is why my wounds healed up.

They both expressed their surprise and admiration.

"If I have that, I definitely will go about looking for trouble," Tiffany said.

"I don't think I will want to do that," Ashley said. "Can you heal others too? If you can then that will be what I would use my power for if I have one."

I shrugged. I do not know how Whisper's power works and if it can only heal me and not others.

"I haven't tried it out but I heard some werewolves are blessed with not just healing themselves but also others."

"That is..."

Someone knocked at the door and this time I was certain it was Kath.

No other person would come to see me except Ashley and Tiffany.

"Come in, Kath."

The door opened and Kath walked in with a tray in her hand. Elora and April were with her too.

"It's time for breakfast," Tiffany said.

"I guess we should go," Ashley said standing up.

Tiffany stood up too. "I guess we should."

I stood up to accompany them to the door. "Thank you, Ashley. Thank you, Tiffany, for coming to see me."

"It's our pleasure," Tiffany said.

"We are happy to see that you are okay," Ashley said. "I was worried sick about you."

I was surprised but happy that Ashley was finally warming up to me.

I smiled. "Thank you. And I am sorry I made you both worried."

"Ma'am, we really need to go now," Elora said.

Ashley and Tiffany waved at me and then followed Elora and April out of the room. I went to the door and kept waving at them until they were out of sight.

I returned to sit down but this time on the couch. Kath had already dropped the tray on the table. She opened the plates up.

"You should sit ma'am," she said. "There is going to be an orientation by noon." I nodded. "I am leaving now. I will be back in an hour to clear up the plates."

"Are you not going to stay with me?"

"I can't. I still have a few things to do," she answered.

"How about you have a few bites before leaving?"

Kath smiled. "That won't be necessary. Thank you for your kind gesture though. I really have to go now."

Kath left and I was left in the room alone. I began to eat the food and when I was done, I arranged the plates into the tray and then tidied up the table. I picked my phone up and began to play a game.

Kath returned an hour later just like she said. She thanked me for clearing the table for her.

"That is the least I can do," I answered and she smiled.

"You can rest until ten. I will be back to get you ready for orientation."

I nodded. "Thank you, Kath."

Kath left, and I went to lie on the bed. I wanted to take a short nap, though I wasn't feeling sleepy, but with Tiffany and Ashley showing up thirty minutes later, I couldn't.

We sat down on the bed with a plate of cookies, cups of juice, and legs crossed, to listen to Tiffany's love story.
