Chapter 60: I Came at the Wrong Time, I’ll Leave Now

The ambushing bodyguard passed out right on the spot.

The handsome guy's fierce counterattack stunned the other bodyguards who were about to rush in together. They stopped in their tracks without thinking.

Vivian saw her chance while the handsome guy was off guard for a second. She scrambled up and tried to run.

But the black-haired handsome guy grabbed her with a quick backhand, like picking up a chick. He clamped one hand on the back of her neck and slammed her right back down.

"Let go of me! You jerk! Do you know who I am?! My brother is Ethan! He won't let you get away with this!"

Vivian struggled in shock and fury, kicking and flailing with her hands and feet.

"Tsk, so noisy."

The black-haired handsome guy frowned like she was annoying him. Then, right in front of Sophia's wide-eyed stare, he picked Vivian up by the whole body and swung her like a handy weapon at the bodyguards who were still frozen.

The bodyguards didn't even have time to react before they got beaten down hard by their boss turned into a weapon.

"Ah! Don't hit! Miss!"

"Get out of the way!"

"Watch out!"

The handsome guy fought with a wild, no-holds-barred ferocity that almost scared the bodyguards out of their minds.

They almost swung back on instinct, but when they looked closer, they froze up and didn't dare fight. They couldn't even dodge fast enough!

In the small space, it turned into total chaos with screams everywhere.

The black-haired handsome guy's moves flowed smoothly. As he dodged and weaved, Vivian's shrieks mixed with the bodyguards' cries of pain. It was noisier than an early morning market.

Sophia stared with her eyes bulging, her jaw nearly hitting the floor.

This... this actually worked?!

This way of doing things was way too... wild!

And he did the whole thing with just one hand? His other hand stayed in his pocket?!

In less than a minute, all five or six bodyguards were on the ground, groaning in pain and unable to get up.

Vivian had been swung so dizzy she was like a dead fish. The handsome guy tossed her casually onto the pile of human punching bags. She dry-heaved, too out of it to speak.

The handsome guy brushed imaginary dust off his hands, smoothed his perfect black hair, turned to Sophia, and flashed a super smug grin.

"How about it, babe? Wasn't brother pretty cool with those moves?"

Sophia was speechless.

Cool! Super cool! Cool enough to split the sky! Cool in a way that pisses off heaven and earth!

That fighting skill, that quick thinking, that... creative way of using a "weapon"! It took cool to a whole new level. She almost wanted to clap and cheer right there!

But one thing mattered more right now.

"Handsome guy... who, who are you?"

The black-haired handsome guy's grin froze for a second, like he was surprised. He switched back to his cocky look and was about to introduce himself when a low, icy voice came from the door.

"Tyler Drake."

Just those words made the guy who'd been all powerful and swinging wildly stiffen up. He shrank his neck, his smug smile vanished, and he turned around like an obedient kid, standing at attention for the door.

"Heh heh, Arthur, you're here! Look, I got it all done! Mission complete!"

Tyler rubbed his hands and gave a fawning smile toward the door.

Sophia looked over and saw Arthur standing there, not sure when he'd arrived.

He first checked Sophia and saw she was okay. He let out a slight breath of relief, then turned to Tyler.

"I sent you to rescue her, not to put on a circus show."

"This is... getting the job done quick and efficient."

Tyler muttered under his breath. After catching Arthur's icy glare, he patted his chest and promised.

"Don't worry, Arthur. Leave the cleanup to me! I'll make this place spotless—no ant will spot anything wrong!"

With that, he got right to it.

He pulled a bundle of rope from who-knows-where and tied up the people on the ground into one long line in seconds. Then he dragged them out like a giant trash bag.

The door shut, leaving just the two of them staring at each other in silence.

Arthur walked slowly into the room.

The sharp gasoline smell made him frown just a tiny bit, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes.

He went to Sophia, squatted down.

"You okay? Hurt anywhere?"

Sophia finally snapped out of that wild chain of action. Looking at the familiar face in front of her, her nose suddenly burned.

If Arthur hadn't sent help in time, that crazy Vivian might have lit her on fire by now!

Even if she didn't burn to death, she'd probably end up disfigured, with bad burns, half-crippled...

Any of that would be worse than dying!

"Mr. Mitchell..."

She opened her mouth to say she was fine, but her voice came out choked.

The calm in Arthur's eyes turned to panic in an instant.

"Don't be scared. It's okay. I'm right here."

He quickly untied the ropes binding her.

With the ropes off, the bright red marks on her wrists stood out even more.

Arthur's eyes darkened. He reached out carefully, avoiding her injuries, and pulled the still-shaking girl into his arms.

"Don't cry. It's okay. It's all over... I'm here. No one can hurt you again."

His familiar scent wrapped around her completely. Her tight nerves finally let go, and the tears she'd been holding back poured out.

She buried her face in his chest and started sobbing quietly.

Arthur felt the wetness on his shirt. His eyes got even colder.

"Don't cry. You're safe." He soothed her softly, over and over.

After a while, Sophia calmed down a little—from full-on crying to quiet sobs.

Arthur pulled out a handkerchief and gently wiped the tears from her face.

Sophia suddenly felt embarrassed. On impulse, she buried her face in his arms again.

Arthur paused for a second, then hugged her tighter.

"It's fine. Stay in my arms as long as you want."

His soft words made her ears turn red instantly.

She tried to sit up straight but felt him holding her firmly.

Now it was awkward.

Pushing him away would make her look heartless.

But staying snuggled in her boss's arms? That looked all kinds of wrong.

Sophia figured, setting aside any funny business, she had to be the most pathetic secretary on earth—crying in her boss's arms like this.

Right then, the door got kicked open from outside.

Sophia jumped, thinking it was Vivian's second wave of goons.

But a loud voice boomed from the door: "Sophia, don't be afraid! I'm here to save you!"

It was Penelope's big mouth for sure.

She marched in all bold and ready for action. But the next second, she saw the two hugging tight—and Arthur's super handsome face, which was clearly pretty gloomy.

Penelope's brain did a quick 180. She threw both hands up high.

"Sorry! Bad timing. I'll get out now!"
