Chapter 100: Dying Time
A cold wind blew bitterly, chilling Matt and Evelyn’s bones. They are surrounded by raging vicious werewolves who happen to be in their wolf form, ready for attack. Overhead, dark clouds blotted out the moon from time to time, casting the centuries-old cemetery into an inky blackness. This is how far they could get, running away from the werewolves.
Scott is nowhere to be found. He has gone after Dan. No idea his daughter was snatched from Dan by an unknown enemy.
“Dan!” he yelled all fired up in anger. He scans around with his eyes. It’s very easy for vampires to see in the dark. “Show your ugly face and hand over my daughter, unharmed!”
Scott paused for a moment and paid close attention to any heartbeat besides Dan’s. He heard a racing heartbeat. It raced faster than normal. He could tell whose heartbeat it was.
“That’s it,” he said, moving one and a half times faster than the theoretical maximum for a human speed.
He moved faster than the eye could see and stood by an oak tree. He focuses his gaze on the path ahead. His gaze was drawn to his daughter. She wasn’t in a good spot. She was used as a shield by Dean while speaking to his brother, Dan.
He moved faster than the eye could see to make a save. He didn’t see what was coming to him. Before he could get to Dean, Jasmine intercepted him and knocked him off the ground.
Scott was prone to the ground and lifted his face toward Mary, “Are you alright?” he asked. A whimper of pain was felt. He couldn’t move a muscle.
Jasmine has her hand buried in his chest. She was gripping her heart and any wrong move from Scott would result in him losing his heart.
Instead of answering Scott, Mary cried out. “Please, spare my father.”
Dan is still bargaining with his brother to let go of Mary. Dean’s grip on Mary’s throat was so firm that she couldn’t move lest her neck get snapped.
“For altering the curse of the moon, tell me why I should spare her and not kill her?”
Dean’s eyes hardened with hate toward his brother. He grunts and bites his bottom lips. Thanks to Mrs. Willie who extracted the venom from him and Jasmine but too bad they didn’t meet up to stop the spell.
“Look around you, Dean,” Dan said. “This forest is surrounded by werewolves who could transform at will.”
Dean’s eyebrows scrunched together. “No thanks to you, brother!”
“Just leave my daughter out of this,” Scott gasped. Jasmine is toying with his heart and would rip it off if he makes any move to fight back. “She has nothing to do with this.”
“She has everything to do,” Jasmine said, scowling at Scott. “She broke the fucking moon curse, Scott!”
“Brother, if you kill Mary, I am coming for you with all that I have!” Dan threatened. His face was beginning to turn red as he continued to burn with rage. “Unhand her and I will spare you!”
Dean breaks into a silly laugh repeatedly. “Spare me?” He chuckled, rolling his eyes on Dan. “No brother, you will be in the box soon.”
Dan’s jaw clenched. He couldn’t believe his brother was not remorseful for dangling him for twenty years. Instead, he throws another threat to his face. The more he stared at Dean with hostility, the larger he grew with rage. Making a move now would be a death sentence to Mary.
“Let her go now or…”
Dan's words were driven back to his throat as he felt a wild headache. His brain was beginning to fry, forcing him to slump on his knees. When he looked in the direction he was hearing a low chant in ancient Egypt, he made a profile of Mrs. Willie.
Her hands were extended toward Dan as she continued with her chant.
Dan cried out in pain. Whatever Mrs. Willie was doing to him was making him weak too. He tried to drag himself up to his feet, but he couldn’t. The more he tried to get to his feet, the feebler he became.
He forced himself to squeeze out a few words. “I will kill you, witch…”
“No, brother,” Dean said. “You are not going to kill anybody. You are going back to your coffin.”
Jasmine’s cheeks flushed with excitement. “I love this,” she said. She has been waiting to dagger Dan and lock him back in his coffin. Slowly, she pulled her hand off Scott. “Tonight is your lucky night.
For a moment, Scott thought he was free from Jasmine but as he dragged himself up to his feet, Jasmine snapped his neck and gestured for Dean to give her a handkerchief to wipe her hand off Scott’s blood.
Mary cried out. She pants heavily. Her heart is heavy seeing her Dad, slump dead. She thought for a moment what she had brought upon her family, making her mother a widow.
Jasmine noticed the look on her face. She smirked slyly. “Don’t worry, your Dad isn’t dead. He’s just unconscious,” she said to Mary. “But for you, you will be dead soon.”
Mary continued to believe otherwise. ‘Who could survive a neck snap?’ There were a lot of things she did not yet know about vampires. Neck snapping didn’t kill them. Only a wooden stake to the heart, fire, decapitation, and powerful witches could kill them.
Dean pulled out a handkerchief serving as his suit pocket filler and threw it toward Jasmine, while still gripping Mary with the other hand. “Catch!”
Jasmine wipes her hand clean with the blood stain from Scott. He tossed the handkerchief away and moved behind the oak tree.
When she came out, she dragged a coffin with her. “Time to rest again, brother!” she chuckled, scoffing at Dan.
There was nothing Dan could do. He’s helpless. Mrs. Willie isn’t letting go of her magical torture on him. He has already started bleeding from the nostrils, ears, and eyes as his eyes gleamed with horror. Jasmine approaches him with a daemon dagger.
