Chapter 31: Why Should I Give You My Work?
Elara was doing my makeup while chatting in my ear.
I had to admit, her makeup skills were quite good.
After putting on makeup, I felt like I had a completely different face.
Elara clapped her hands. "Ms. Martinez, you look so beautiful. If you weren't sick, you'd definitely be prettier than Aria even without makeup."
Although I didn't respond, which woman in this world didn't love beauty? However, in the face of life and death, it was clear that staying alive was more important.
I asked, "What time is the appointment with the Sullivan Group today?"
Last night, Ryan called me and asked me to come to the office today, but he didn't tell me the time. I assumed it was in the afternoon.
Elara replied, "It starts at 2 PM. Mr. Martin asked me to bring you over at 1 PM."
I nodded. "Is the design proposal ready?"
Elara said, "It's ready, Ms. Martinez. If any modifications are needed, I'll make them."
I took a look. Elara's professional skills were indeed strong. There was basically nothing to modify.
I remarked, "It's good. Whether any changes are needed will depend on the people from the Sullivan Group."
Elara breathed a sigh of relief and leaned in. "Ms. Martinez, do you think the people from the Sullivan Group will give us trouble this time?"
I asked, "Why?"
Elara explained, "Actually, this isn't the first time the Sullivan Group's representative has come. Last time, Mr. Phillips had Aria receive them. I don't know what happened, but the representative left with a gloomy face. I heard that the Sullivan Group has a new representative this time. I just don't know if they'll be dissatisfied with the Phillips Group because of what happened last time."
I blinked. "Nothing should happen. We just need to do our job well."
Elara nodded. "I understand, Ms. Martinez. I just don't know what Mr. Phillips sees in Aria. She's not capable, and has a bad temper, yet Mr. Phillips always protects her."
She snorted, "Last time, the Sullivan Group was already dissatisfied because of the design draft, and he still had Aria receive them. She messed it up again, but Mr. Phillips didn't punish her, just gave her a mild scolding."
"There's no reason for liking someone. Henry likes her, so he sees everything good in her," I said lightly, but couldn't help thinking about the past.
Love was something that never made sense.
Elara muttered, "I don't want Aria to affect our entire team's efforts."
I revised the design draft a bit more. Time passed quickly, and soon it was afternoon.
Elara and I arrived at the office early. The representative from the Sullivan Group hadn't arrived yet, and Ryan handed me the documents.
The representative sent by the Sullivan Group this time was Marc Murray. I had interacted with him before. He was a straightforward person, not bound by formalities, and had a strong sense of justice.
I guessed Quinn specifically sent him to help me.
Ryan had reserved a meeting room for us. Besides Elara and me, there were other members of the design team.
To my surprise, Aria also came. She walked up to me and extended her hand, looking down at me. "Amelia, give it to me."
I raised an eyebrow. "What?"
Aria said, "The design proposal and draft. I'll handle the liaison this time. You just need to listen."
I smiled, "Why should I give you what I made?"
Aria said smugly, "Because I'm your team leader now, and you have to listen to me."
Before I could speak, Elara couldn't help but retort, "Aria, what right do you have to take Ms. Martinez's work? Have you ever made a proposal? Drawn a design draft? Participated in any of it? You haven't done anything, yet you shamelessly come to steal Ms. Martinez's credit. Aren't you disgusting?"
Others also started talking, "At first, I thought she just had a twisted worldview, being a homewrecker. Now it seems she's just morally corrupt, always wanting to take others' things. It's really unlucky to encounter her."
"Isn't it? I heard Ms. Martinez was working on the design draft even while sick. And what about her? She clings to Mr. Phillips all day. It's shameless."
