Chapter 295 Moss's Death
Chapter 295 Moss's Death
His subordinate walked forward excitedly. They watched as Ivy pulled a keychain from her pocket. The two men exchanged glances at the sight of the key. That was it—the key to Anso's treasure!
They watched Ivy unlock the heavy door with the key, then rushed forward in excitement.
Inside, everything glittered with gold. Artifacts and treasures filled every corner. The two men looked left and right, thrilled. The space wasn't large, but it was crammed with thousands upon thousands of treasures.
Moss and his subordinate stared at the hoard in delight. He laughed triumphantly. "Hahaha! Starting today, all these treasures are mine!"
The next second, his subordinate cried out in alarm. "Wait, boss! All this stuff is fake!"
Moss froze and whipped around. "How is that possible? How can they be fake?"
His subordinate said in shock, "It's true! Look closely—these ceramic vases might look like master craftsman work, but they're all knockoffs! The workmanship is shoddy! Ivy, you dare play us? You must have a death wish! Talk! Where did you hide the real stuff?"
After Moss recovered from the shock, he immediately drew his gun. He turned to threaten Ivy, but in the next second, the girl before him vanished. She snatched the gun from his hand in one swift motion, then said coldly, "Long time no see, Moss."
Moss hadn't even processed what happened. Suddenly, countless mercenaries and assassins emerged from the walls surrounding the treasure room.
Originally, those walls had been solid. But because Philip couldn't rest easy about Ivy's safety, he'd carved out another hidden chamber behind them.
Now those mercenaries and assassins from the Tengu organization poured out from that underground space.
The already-small treasure room was now packed with mercenaries and assassins, surrounding the entire space like an iron barrel. At the very center stood Moss and his subordinate.
Tengu walked out from the side with a cheerful laugh. He looked at Moss and greeted him casually. "Long time no see, my former boss. Wait, no—both my former boss and my current boss are standing right in front of me. Isn't that right, Ms. Cooper?"
After saying this, Tengu covered his mouth in mock surprise and called out again, "Wait, I should be calling you 'Boss.'"
Hearing those two words, Moss and his subordinate both trembled. They stared in disbelief at the Ivy before them, who looked nothing like Moss.
Moss cried out, "Tengu, have you lost your mind? Blood Dove is dead! What the hell are you talking about?"
Ivy tilted her head. "That's right. Blood Dove did die. But only the body died. Now Blood Dove has been reborn—as me. Long time no see, Moss. You set me up pretty badly back then."
"You made me and my people turn on each other, then left us all to burn in that fire. And now you want to take Anso's treasure? I'd say you're delusional."
Moss stared at the unfamiliar face. But the tone—he couldn't deny it. This was Blood Dove, that untouchable legend, the top-tier S-rank assassin who stood above all others!
But how could she still be alive? And in this form?
He had ten thousand questions racing through his mind, but none of them mattered now. All he could think about was escaping.
He immediately reached for his waist and said coldly, "I don't know what's going on here, but Blood Dove, I need to tell you—I have a—"
Before he could finish, the shadow before him vanished. His subordinate shouted, "Boss, watch out!" But before the words even left his mouth, blood sprayed across the room.
Moss's head separated from his body.
Even Tengu, who had just been talking, hadn't had time to react. It was too fast. Just too fast.
This speed, invisible to the naked eye—only Blood Dove could execute it so perfectly. Even years later, witnessing this skill left him in awe. The former Blood Dove had been the ultimate S-rank assassin, one person worth an army of thousands.
The subordinate, who hadn't finished his sentence, looked at his boss's lifeless body. Blood kept gushing out. Then he glanced at the countless mercenaries and assassins surrounding them. He wanted to resist. But before he could react, that dark shadow flashed beside him like a phantom. In the next second, his entire body was sliced as if by a thousand cuts. In just two seconds, countless bloody holes appeared all over him. He screamed in agony and collapsed to his knees.
Before he could beg for mercy, a blade pierced straight through his jaw. The pain knocked him unconscious.
"Useless trash doesn't need to talk."
In just ten seconds, she'd taken down the leader of a top assassin organization and an S-rank assassin. Her speed shocked every mercenary and assassin present.
And Philip, watching everything through the surveillance feed, sat frozen. Derek beside him gaped so wide his mouth could swallow two eggs whole.
"Good God, Mr. Green! This is terrifying. Ms. Cooper's true skill level is actually like this. I suddenly feel like the fact that she didn't kill us both when she got angry before was way too merciful."
Philip stared for two seconds, then burst into laughter. "Worthy of Blood Dove indeed. This is exactly the person I chose."
Philip suddenly realized he'd been worrying about Ivy far too much. These mercenaries and assassins—they didn't even matter. Because Ivy's abilities were top-tier.
As long as the enemy numbers weren't as overwhelming as that time at his place, Ivy could basically take them all down herself.
He suddenly realized that last time at the Cooper family estate, when Ivy hadn't taken that heavy machine gun and blown his brains out—maybe it really was because of the bond they'd built during their time together.
The thought made him unexpectedly happy. Either way, Ivy clearly had special feelings for him.
After everything was over, Tengu ordered his people to clean up the treasure vault while he whistled and followed behind Ivy.
"Boss, that was way too fast! At least give me a chance to show off. My guys and I set up this whole ambush, waited so long—and you took them down in seconds. Makes us look pretty useless."
Ivy smirked. "Alright, shut your mouth. Just those two? You think I need your protection? I only did all this to save Philip's face."
Hearing that, Tengu immediately raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean 'save his face'? Can't you save a little face for me too? I'm your subordinate, after all! Wait, no—Boss, what exactly is going on between you and Philip?"
"Hey, Boss, don't walk away! Tell me! I'm dying of curiosity here! Even though you've gotten your revenge, I have to say—you're still our organization's boss. If anything comes up, I'm coming to you, Tengu. I'm latching onto you for good."
Ivy quickened her pace in disgust and said, "Get lost. I don't want such a useless subordinate."
