Chapter 56 Dream Wedding {Part 1}
Katelyn almost didn’t recognize the bride who stared back at her from the mirror. She was going to be his in a few minutes and no force in this world would be able to stop it. She wore a floor length satin white gown that completely covered her feet. The veil she wore on her head was long enough to drag behind her. Her hair had been pulled up into a donut bun fashion, with two tendrils of hair suspended from the side of the hairline. The makeup was simple – A touch of blush with cherry red lip gloss.
She wore blue diamond earrings and a small emerald pendant around her neck to match with the engagement ring he gave her.
Her heart thumped wildly against her ribcage as she stood behind the small room’s curtain that separated her from the inside of the church. It was a ventilated room, but still she felt mildly claustrophobic because of the tension that coursed through her veins. She was beyond happy, but she also wished that she could control the uneasiness of stage fright.
He father was also present with her in the room, his face proud with many unfathomable emotions. The old man was inexplicably happy when he learned that Kate loved Marcus. He never thought that he could get to see the day where he gave away her daughter to someone whom he trusted enough to keep her safe.
His little treasure was ready....to be someone else’s....
A gentle music of the orchestra began playing on the outside, indicating that it was time for her to go.
“Ready sweetheart?” Winston asked as he stood up from the chair and walked towards her while wiping away tears of joy.
“Yes....” she whispered with a soft sigh.
“Let’s go” her father said after placing a kiss on her forehead.
Taking a few deep breaths to calm her racing heart, she hooked an arm around her father’s elbow and stepped out of the room by parting the faded blue curtain.
The moment her bare feet touched the plush red carpet that led her to the alter, goosebumps broke out on her skin at the unearthly feeling.
The whole church was finished with natural stones and was decorated with white and red rose flowers for the occasion. Dark corners of the church were illuminated with fairy lights and her eyes sparkled when she took in the mesmerizing aura that was contained inside the little space.
Most of the people who stood up to greet the bride were familiar faces because they were her father’s men and the maids of the mansion. The people who truly mattered. Their pleasant smiles welcomed her as she took each step forward.
All the world disappeared from around her when her eyes fell on him. Quisito was already waiting for her at the altar, donning a black tux, with a smile on his face.
God.... that smile!
Butterflies wreaked havoc inside her belly when she closed the distance between them. When she reached the altar, her father let go of her after giving her a hug.
Quisito extended his hand towards her to help her get on the slightly raised platform. With a trembling breath, she placed her tiny hand in his and stepped up on the altar. His mere contact with her skin gave her the confidence she needed as she smiled back at him nervously. But he could read her like an open book.
“Nervous?” he asked softly.
“A little...” she whispered back while squeezing his hand.
“You are gonna be okay...” he assured with a wink making her heart jolt in her chest.
He was definitely going to be the death of her...
He didn’t let go of her hand and kept it entwined with his when the priest started the wedding ceremony. They turned to face each other while holding each other’s hands in the middle, when it was time for them to be declared as husband and wife.
“Do you, Marcus Don Quisito take Katelyn Winston to be your lawfully wedded wife?” the priest asked.
“Yes, I do” Quisito replied while looking into her eyes, his heart beating in unison with hers.
“Do you, Katelyn Winston take Marcus Don Quisito to be your lawfully wedded husband?” the priest asked.
“I do...” she answered while gazing up at his hypnotic blue orbs through her long eyelashes.
“If you have any vows prepared, then you may say it now” the priest instructed.
They haven’t rehearsed anything in prior, so what ever they were about to say came straight from their heart.
Marcus was the first one to go.
“I have never met someone as charming, funny and kind as...you. You have brought immense joy and peace into my life that no other thing on this universe can provide. I will love you and cherish you until death parts us forever. And if can, I will come back from the dead to watch over you. Kate... you are the most beautiful girl on the planet and I am the luckiest man to have you princess...”
Kate blushed and at the same time she had tears in her eyes because what he just sent her to cloud nine and beyond. How on earth can someone love someone this much?
It was her turn.
“I have imagined a thousand ways on how my marriage would take place and I never thought that I would get to marry the love of my life. When you walked into my life, you brought me two things I craved for the most – Happiness and freedom. You showed me how it feels like to be taken care of and how it feels like to have somebody to absorb your pain away like a blotting paper. I don’t know how I survived all these years without you Marcus.... And I can’t wait to spent the rest of my life with you”
She said truthfully and saw how his face lit up with pure happiness and amusement. It was as though he couldn’t believe that she was going to be his wife.
“You are now pronounced as man and wife” the priest declared and it was time for them to share a kiss in front of the world.
The inside of the church wasn’t over crowded, but the outsides were jam packed with bodyguards in black. Four helicopters stood airborne above the roof, incase they face an unexpected attack; And the sound of their rotating blades was irritatingly loud.
But the moment his lips fell on hers, all of those things blurred out. Suddenly she felt like they both were the only people on Earth.
Marcus brought up one hand to cradle the side of her face and pulled her closer with the other hand on her waist as he claimed her plump lips that tasted like strawberries. Putting her hands on his shoulders, she kissed him back, closing her eyes and letting the storm of the act consume her entire being.
It was when they finally parted did they hear the cheers from the crowd present inside the church.
