Chapter 25: 25
"That miracle they're not arguing," I said and Matt got up from his seat, as Evan started walking towards the gym building that consisted of three floors of just that.
"Matt told me what happened with your grandfather. I thank him for helping you," he patted my head and I smiled at my friend, "We'll try to be friends again."
"Yeah, this weird discord was pointless," the blond denied, before inviting us into the place.
"Matt has a membership, so he helped me pull one out for both of us, how about that?" said Evan, as he swiped a card through a small step and it opened just for him, then he handed it to me and I did the same before Matt.
"I don't know if I can come every day," I assured, "I have a lot of things to do."
"That's understandable, but the membership is counted the moment you swipe the card, so don't worry about being charged without using it," Matt reassured me.
We went up to the second floor, where there were already quite a few people in their respective spaces working out and others had someone telling them what to do.
I tried not to notice the sweaty bodies of the men who were present, and even some of the women who I mistook for men because of their haircuts, as it made my hair stand on end.
I was already a sexually active woman again and the desire was inevitable, as well as the urge.
Evan and Matt put me to warm up with them, as I couldn't do anything without getting my muscles ready first.
"I want to lift weights again," I said and he looked at me in surprise.
"Are you sure, you haven't done it in months."
"Yes, I want to, will you help me?" he nodded and tightly placed the belt on my abdomen. I lay down on one of the machines, where he put small weights, as if I was a novice and lifted it with no problem.
However, the next ones were more difficult, since I had lost the habit, but I could do it a little at a time.
Matt was watching me from afar with an amused smile, as he knew I was grimacing like a little girl.
"One more," my friend said and I hit him hard, until it fell into his hands and I fell to the side of the device where I was supposed to lie down, tired.
I lay on my back, sweat running down my forehead.
"Well done, little girl," Evan said, before giving me a high five and at the same time helping me to stand up.
My arm muscles were burning, "I'd gotten a little lazy," I said and the blond came over to tease me, clearly.
"Do you have a man in you or something, Amy?" the man asked with an incredulous smile and my friend encouraged, "What strength."
"Yeah," said Evan, "I wouldn't recommend hand to hand fighting with her, she's got a heavy hand."
"Does the voice of experience speak?" I looked at my friend with obvious amusement. We let out laughs all three of us, before drinking.
Matt finished doing a leg sequence, to help Evan do the same thing I was doing so Evan didn't end up with a weight on his neck, so I took advantage of the space to venture around and people-watch.
As well as being watched, clearly.
The pressure belt I had on my waist I wanted to take it off, so I was going to take advantage of it to do some more force.
I noticed that on the sides of the gym, there were mirrors, where people looked at each other while they were practicing as if they were inspiring themselves with what they were achieving.
I had stopped going to the gym with Evan after I had gone into a crisis, not knowing what to do about college, the people I had been involved with at the time, and my family. As time went on, my career had become so difficult that I was already questioning whether to continue with just one of the two.
I saw one of the same ones I had lifted with Evan lying in an open space, alone, so I decided to give it a try. The strange thing about it for me was that people stayed with their stuff all over the place, you didn't know what belonged to whom.
I looked down at my hands wrapped in gloves that uncovered my fingers, before placing them on the metal and taking a deep breath, before taking the momentum I needed to pull it up my legs and then my shoulders, but then my heart stopped as I saw in front of the mirror a man more than two heads behind me looking back at me through it as if I had just summoned the Devil himself.
From surprise I let go of the device, which gave a thunderous sound in the open space, but no one cared, as there was too much noise around even with music.
My pulse stayed at the beginning of the race, why I lost it as soon as those deep black eyes determined me with severity under the bushy eyebrows of the red-haired man who began to intimidate me with his appearance.
Why wasn't I able to move?
He was just standing there as if I had just done something to him and I didn't understand what was wrong, but my body didn't react to my reason.
I could feel the warmth of his body on my back and I couldn't ignore that he had Asian features, as well as long wavy and straight hair.
"Amy, come on, let's go for a little run," Evan called, snapping me back to reality. I watched him from afar talking to Matt, intending to come looking for me and I didn't want him to see me in that strange situation.
I simply walked away from the man, after giving him an impatient glance in the mirror.
I walked over to my friends quickly and with a jerk I took off my belt, which rang loudly as well. I felt like I was coming back to life after that.
If Lucas had seen me, he would have gone crazy.
I was definitely going to tell him about it, why I loved to make him scream with everything that happened in my life that was explosive to him, like experiences he shouldn't forget for the world.
Clarifying that this only happened when they were men.
"Little girl, next time you're going to use a barbell, make sure no one is using it," Evan pointed out, taking me by surprise.
