Chapter 20
"It's from the hospital, I have to go," I said to my friend and he immediately stood up, trying to catch up with me.
"Are you going to think about it, tell me what if," he tied himself to my insistent arm.
"I don't have it in me to leave my grandfather alone, to go fulfill the whims of a crazy man. I'm not going to risk it being dangerous," I denied, but I knew from his squeals, he wouldn't leave me alone.
"Amy, please have mercy on me," he threw a tantrum and I rolled my eyes.
"No, Lucas, besides, if you want another sex toy, it can't be me. I'm dating Kyllian, remember," I looked at him and he sighed.
"I forgot to tell her that," he bit his fingers and I snorted, "Maybe she wouldn't have been like this if I'd told her you already had someone."
"Or maybe he wouldn't have cared," I took a deep breath, as we walked back to campus to catch the first bus leaving to go to the hospital to see my grandfather.
"What if you told Kyllian?"
I stopped abruptly.
"Are you crazy," I looked at him with wide eyes, "What do you think he'd say if I told him I was the girl the crazy psychos were looking for, why I helped a drunk not fall into a drunken coma and now he threatened my best friend and who knows how many others, so he could see me," I asked, putting all the reasons together to give him to understand that it was a lousy idea.
He remained silent, motionless. He was lost in thought for a moment, while I watched him with my arms folded.
"I don't know, if you put it like that, it does sound like a bad idea, but what else can we do?"
I snorted, "Don't you think he would ask me to report that to the police?"
"Report it?" she covered her mouth, "That far?"
"He threatened you, Lucas, what do you do when a stranger threatens you like that, without even knowing you, look what he did to get information," I pointed out obviously.
"I don't know," he said and I went on my way, "Wait, would you seriously report him, you didn't even see him."
"I know what it's like...," I paused, "Well, a little, I remember it dimly, I was drunk."
"That's why, what if you try to find out what he wants?"
I rolled my eyes for the umpteenth time in the hour.
"How could you ask me something like that, it might be a trap, she might want to kidnap me," I said with obviousness, "She's not even from the university,...," he tried to speak, but I interrupted him, "And even if she didn't have those intentions, what would Kyllian say if she saw me with another man?"
He snorted, "Amy, you're not husbands, you're not even a couple, what can he say; 'Oh, the girl I'm sleeping with cheated on me with someone else'," he said the last, trying to mimic the masculine voice of the aforementioned, "That's stupid."
"Cut it out, you're sounding a little out of tune," I denied, "I don't know you."
"We're young and you're wasting those attributes on a college kid who's about to get the fuck out of here," he said and I tried not to freak out at everything he was saying. I didn't know whether to laugh or get mad at him.
It was clear that I cared little for Kyllian's opinion, but I enjoyed spending time with him, even if it was nothing more than fun.
At least I hoped it was and there were no hidden agendas that I couldn't identify, for having let so much time go by without being with someone.
"You're so rude, and I have to go to the hospital now," I said, but a voice interrupted us.
"Amy, Lucas," she said in her high-pitched voice, and I wished I had been swallowed up by the earth.
"Gwen, hi," I smiled, as my friend fell silent. To our misfortune he was accompanied by Matt, who gave us a pleasant smile right away.
"Hi Amy, and Lucas, right," she pointed to my friend and he nodded like a zombie.
"Were you two arguing," the redhead looked at us side by side, so my best friend and I looked at each other sideways.
I knew that if Matt wasn't there, he would have told her by now; nosy asshole. Just like I almost always told him when I was fighting over her and why I kept treating her, even though she did everything to ruin me. He knew I used her to maintain neutrality in my life, but I couldn't stand it.
"Just friend incordialities, nothing serious," I downplayed, as she must not have known that we were fighting over why an unknown man, who to her was a Greek God of crazy piscopaths, wanted to see me at the college anniversary party.
Starting with the fact that they couldn't know it was me and clearly at that party, they might know. It wasn't a good idea to give in to the man's threats, even if I was curious about it.
"He seemed very serious," he commented, trying to free something from our mouths and I wasn't planning to say absolutely nothing. Starting with the fact that his tongue was poisonous and he would use any information in his hand to ruin whoever it was, on the sly, pretending it was someone else.
Poor Matt, who had his arm wrapped around her waist as overprotection, didn't know what harpy he was messing with. However, it wasn't my problem, nor anyone else's but theirs.
Fortunately I didn't live off other people's worries, at least not the ones that didn't matter too much.
I liked the blond guy, even though we had no more than an acquaintance relationship thanks to Evan belonging to his group, but getting into his friendship range was more complicated.
But if I started to think about how Gwen had gotten into a more important area, such as being his outgoing, I questioned what things she would have had to do to get his attention.
Or the blond just got careless and let himself be subdued by a sexy woman.
All in all, it hadn't worked out with anyone.
"She's just a complicated woman," Lucas said, smiling forcibly as he hugged me by the shoulders and I gave him a dirty look out of the corner of my eye.
To my misfortune, Kyllian was just leaving the university with his friend Tomás and he saw us clearly in front of him, since we were standing in the middle of the campus as if we were people with nothing to do.
"Your worthless comes there," the brunet whispered in my ear and I rolled my eyes.
He wasn't going to leave me alone, that was final, until I gave in to his whims.
"So they are," Matt commented at last, before Kyllian almost stepped over the two of them to get to me.
"Hey babe," he said and gave me a sudden kiss on the lips, right in front of them and I went kind of blank.
"Hello?", I said in the middle of my surprise and Lucas gave an uncomfortable, somewhat creepy look.
How was it possible that I had first encouraged myself to get carried away with Kyllian, causing my grandfather to worry, and then I was pushing him away like poison?
Why?
Because of an unknown man who had made him wet himself, while threatening him.
Matt and Gwen acted like they hadn't seen him, and I didn't know how to tell him in a good way not to act like he was my boyfriend, why it was awkward.
It had been so long since anyone had seen me like that, it was honestly more of a surprise to me, than it was to them.
"Well, it's nice to meet Amy's new boyfriend in this peculiar way," Gwen commented.
"He's not her boyfriend," Lucas replied so quickly, that I was left with the word in my mouth.
I wanted to run out of there as fast as I could and disappear. It had been less than a month since I had met the brown guy and he had already been labeled as something that wasn't even close to what we had; in short, we were just fucking.
There wasn't that confidence to show that way in front of others.
"Amy, you said you were going to the hospital didn't you," cut like an edge to Matt's good mood, looking at me and I nodded, "I'm on my way there too, can I give you a lift?"
I looked at Lucas and he nodded with a smile, "Relax, I have another class in ten minutes. Call me later, okay?"
"Okay," I gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"I didn't know you were going to the hospital," Kyllian said.
"Yeah, my grandpa's there," I saw out of the corner of my eye Matt kiss Gwen goodbye and walk away toward the parking lot. I knew he had a car, but I had no idea what it was. I couldn't let him out of my sight, "I'll talk to you later, okay?"
I patted his arm and ran after the quarterback.
