Chapter 328 The Stone Group's Fatal Problem
Chapter 328 The Stone Group's Fatal Problem
Alaric restrained his emotions and answered in a low voice.
"Okay."
After he agreed, Cordelia hung up the call.
He stood there holding his phone, tidied up his appearance a bit, then walked back to the Stone Manor.
After Cordelia went upstairs, she found Alaric's changed clothes still in her bathroom. She found a bag to pack his clothes in, then also put the towel he had used into the bag.
After tidying up, she carried the bag downstairs.
Alaric had already returned to the Stone Manor and was standing at the stairway about to go upstairs.
When he saw what Cordelia was carrying, he froze for a moment, immediately understanding what was going on.
His previously joyful mood instantly plummeted.
Cordelia held the bag out to Alaric and said quietly.
"Here you go."
She said softly, holding the items out to Alaric.
Alaric looked at the bag in front of him, let out a slight sigh, and said in a low voice.
"You called me back just to get this?"
Cordelia nodded, "Yes."
"Allegra will be cleaning tomorrow. It wouldn't look good if she saw them."
Alaric frowned slightly, but eventually reached out to take the bag, saying quietly.
"It's already very late."
Hearing this, Cordelia glanced at the time and nodded in agreement.
"It really is quite late. You should head back. I need to rest too."
After speaking, she turned to go back to her bedroom.
Seeing this, Alaric reached out and grabbed her hand.
"Cordelia..."
Cordelia stopped and turned to look at Alaric, her eyes showing confusion.
Alaric looked at her bright eyes, but ultimately suppressed what he wanted to say, saying lightly.
"Good night."
Cordelia responded, "Good night."
Alaric sighed quietly to himself, then let go of Cordelia's hand and turned to leave the Stone Manor.
Cordelia stood at the stairway watching Alaric's departing figure, silent for a long while.
When Alaric left the Stone family estate, Bruce hadn't left yet.
Bruce was leaning against Alaric's car in a dejected manner. Seeing Alaric come out, he perked up a little.
"What happened on the yacht today?"
Bruce knew Alaric had also been invited by Gabriel.
Why were all the people who attended the yacht party tonight hinting at him when they came back?
Something must have happened on the yacht, which is why those people were reminding him that Evelyn and Gabriel had a thing.
Alaric looked at Bruce's current dejected appearance, walked over, and said in a deep voice.
"Cordelia had a bit of a situation. Ms. Evelyn Stone is fine."
Hearing this, Bruce frowned tightly. After a long while, he finally spoke.
"Is Gabriel really interested in Evelyn?"
Alaric looked at Bruce's current lack of confidence and patted him on the shoulder.
"Their relationship is complicated. She won't choose Gabriel. You should deal with Daisy's problem first before coming to find her."
It had been a long detour on the road to her heart.
Seeing Bruce like this now, he couldn't help pointing it out.
Evelyn demanded loyalty from her partner.
Bruce supporting Daisy and that girl was a severe blow to her self-respect.
Hearing Alaric's words, Bruce took a deep breath, his eyes showing some confusion.
"What's their relationship?"
Alaric looked at Bruce's dejected state and said lightly.
"Gabriel's stepmother is Tessa."
Hearing Alaric's words, Bruce paused. After a long silence, he finally said.
"I see."
Bruce was well aware of Evelyn's hatred for Tessa over the years.
If Gabriel were Tessa's stepson, then Evelyn really wouldn't accept him.
Seeing that much of the worry had disappeared from Bruce's face, Alaric reminded him lightly, "Offer the Lynn family some benefits, get them to send Daisy abroad so she won't be here to irritate Evelyn. Maybe then you'll have a chance to talk."
Hearing this, Bruce's eyes showed some hesitation.
"Evelyn clearly knows Daisy poses no threat to her. Since Daisy came back, I've never done anything inappropriate."
"Since the beginning of this year, she hasn't cared about the engagement at all. I've been planning the wedding entirely by myself. From the wedding dress to the outfits, she hasn't even opened the catalog to choose styles."
Bruce said with a self-mocking laugh, his eyes fixed tightly on the door of Stone Manor.
"Evelyn is just an emotionless monster."
Hearing these words from Bruce, Alaric's eyes darkened slightly.
"If she really didn't like you, why would she have dated you for so many years?"
"Bruce, you've gone too far."
Robert stood to the side. Seeing Alaric about to leave, he immediately opened the rear door.
Alaric bent down and got in the car.
Bruce stood nearby, watching Alaric get in the car, his face grave.
"Evelyn is so proud; only when her defiance is broken will she stay by my side."
Just like three years ago, when the Stone Group had problems, Evelyn chose to get back together with him.
"Alaric, we've been friends for so many years. I hope you won't interfere."
Bruce's eyes showed determination and ruthlessness.
Alaric, already in the car, heard this and his eyes grew somewhat heavy.
He stared at Bruce with a grave look, silent for a long while, then earnestly advised.
"If you choose to fight against her, you'll never have a chance."
Bruce stared fixedly at the room on the second floor where Evelyn lived.
"Right now, I have no chance at all. Only if the Stone Group has problems will she choose to rely on me, just like three years ago."
Alaric frowned, his voice carrying a warning tone.
"The factions within the Howard family are eyeing your seat with predatory intent. If you keep focusing on the Stone Group, you're bound to trigger retaliation."
"No matter how heartless Evelyn is, she's never gone after the Howard Group."
Bruce couldn't hear Alaric's advice at all right now.
"As long as I have a hold on her and she marries me, I'm willing to pay any price."
Alaric frowned and said in a deep voice, "Bruce, don't drive her into a corner. If you two are going to fight, whether it's you or the Stone Group, I won't interfere, but..."
Bruce interrupted Alaric in a deep voice, "Stop it. I will definitely get her back to my side, and she'll come back on her own."
As he spoke, he pulled out a cigarette from his pack, put it in his mouth, lowered his head to light it, looked darkly in Evelyn's direction, then walked toward the shadows. Soon after, he drove away from the Stone Manor.
Alaric watched his retreating figure and frowned.
Robert stood by the car. Seeing Bruce's car leave, he immediately bent down to look at Alaric in the back seat and asked.
"Mr. Hughes, should we give Ms. Stone a heads up?"
Bruce had dated Evelyn for many years and understood her personality. He must know the Stone Group's current fatal weakness.
