Chapter 30: Episode Thirty

Chapter Thirty

Diana’s POV

Monday morning came too soon and I found myself sitting in my economics lecture trying not to fall asleep

Professor Grant was going on about supply and demand curves but his voice was like white noise in the background of my pounding headache

I should have known better than to drink that much at the party. My body wasn’t used to alcohol and now I was paying the price

I tried to focus on the board where Professor Grant was writing formulas but the numbers kept blurring together. I blinked hard and forced myself to sit up straighter

That’s when I felt eyes on me

I glanced to the side and saw Selene staring at me from three rows ahead. She had turned completely around in her seat with a nasty smile on her face

Professor Grant had his back to the class as he wrote on the board so he didn’t notice

“Well well well,” Selene said just loud enough for the students around us to hear “Look who finally decided to show up” I ignored her and looked back down at my notebook

“I heard you went to Kieran’s party Saturday night,” she continued, her voice was dripping with fake sweetness

“Must have been quite the event”

A few students nearby turned to look at us. I could feel their eyes on me

“So what if I did?” I said quietly without looking up

“So what?” Selene laughed “So you were there whoring around like you always do. Trying to get into Kieran’s pants now that Professor Blackwood is bored of you” My hands clenched around my pen and something inside me snapped

I was done. Done being quiet, done letting her say whatever she wanted and I meant it for real this time

I looked up and met her eyes “At least I got invited, unlike some people” Her face turned bright red, there was gasps here and there and a few snickers “What did you just say?”

“You heard me, you’re just mad because Kieran didn’t want you at his party, but he wanted me there”

“You little bitch” she hissed

“Is there a problem back there?” Professor Grant finally turned around from the board

“No sir,” Selene said sweetly turning back to face the front “Just asking Diana about the homework assignment”

“Then ask quietly please, you’re disrupting the class”

“Yes sir. Sorry sir” Professor Grant went back to his lecture. Selene waited exactly thirty seconds before turning around again

This time her smile was gone, her face was twisted with anger

“You think you’re so special don’t you?” she hissed through gritted teeth “You think because Kieran feels sorry for you that means something? He’s just being nice to the poor little scholarship trash” I laughed in her face and rolled my eyes

“Believe whatever helps you sleep at night Selene” I could see literal smoke puffing out of her ears

“I’m going to make your life a living hell for this” my brow quirked up in mockery

“You already tried that,” I said, my voice was steady and calm “Remember how well it worked out for you last time?”

Her eyes widened. I could see her remembering

Remembering when I slapped her, when I fought back and didn’t back down

“You wouldn’t dare do that again”

I leaned forward slightly “Are you sure about that?” She was swelling and I swear i thought she would burst any moment “One hundred percent, you don’t have the backbone” she taunted, I allowed myself to smirk, even though I was certain I looked anything but that “Try me then, go ahead and get physical. See what happens”

For a moment I thought she was actually going to do it

Her hands clenched into fists and her whole body tensed up like she was about to lunge at me

But then something changed in her expression thr gills in her head were turning and I knew she was calculating

She remembered what happened last time she tried to hurt me. She remembered that I didn’t just take it anymore

Without another word she turned back around in her seat

I sat back and took a deep breath, my heart was racing but I felt good, strong even

Karina purred inside me, she liked it when I stood up for myself. When I showed my teeth

The rest of the lecture passed without any more incidents. I actually managed to take some notes even though my head was still pounding

When class finally ended I packed up my things and headed for the door. I was halfway down the hallway when my phone buzzed in my pocket

I pulled it out and saw a text from Calum

Come to my office. Now

My stomach did a flip. What did he want? Was something wrong?

I texted back

I have another class in fifteen minutes

His response came immediately.

Skip it. Come now

I stared at my phone for a moment. Then I changed direction and headed toward his office building

When I got there I knocked on his door

“Come in”

I opened the door and stepped inside. Calum was sitting behind his desk looking at something on his computer. He didn’t look up right away

“Close the door,” he said

I closed the door and stood there waiting. My heart was beating faster now

Finally he looked up at me, his expression was unreadable

“Sit down Diana”

I sat in the chair across from his desk “Is everything okay? Your text sounded urgent”

“Everything’s fine” He leaned back in his chair and studied me “I just wanted to see you”

“You wanted to see me? That’s why you told me to skip class?”

“That and something else” A small smile played at his lips “Do you remember what we talked about yesterday? About what you owe me?”

Oh. Oh no

My face went hot

“Yes”

“Good” He stood up and walked around his desk

“Because I’ve decided what I want”

“What do you want?” My voice came out quieter than I intended

He leaned against his desk right in front of me, close enough that I could smell his cologne

“I want you to come to my room tonight,” he said “After everyone’s asleep, and I want you to let me show you exactly what you owe me for scaring me half to death Saturday night” My breath caught in my throat. The way he was looking at me made my skin feel hot all over

“Calum we’re in your office”

“I know where we are” His hand came up to touch my face “I’m not asking for it now, I’m telling you what I want tonight”

“What if I say no?”

“Then you say no, I’m not going to force you Diana” His thumb brushed across my bottom lip “But something tells me you’re not going to say no”

He was right, I wasn’t going to say no

“Okay,” I whispered “Tonight”

“Good girl” He smiled and stepped back “Now get out of here before someone notices you’ve been in my office”

I stood up on shaky legs and walked to the door. My whole body felt like it was on fire

“Diana?”

I turned back to look at him

“Wear something nice,” he said “Or better yet. Don’t wear anything at all” My face burned even hotter. I left his office without saying another word

As I walked down the hallway I couldn’t stop thinking about tonight. About what he was going to do to me. About what I owed him

And goddess help me but I couldn’t wait to find out.
