Chapter 101: Make Him Pay
Chapter 101: Make Him Pay
Braton
I was completely shell shocked and speechless as she stood in front of me, demanding the gun in my hand and wanting to be the one to end Andrew's life.
"Why?" That was the only word that I could find at the moment.
"Because, I need to. I feel so angry." Her words were heartbreaking and anguished as she ball her fists, trying to find placement for the rage she felt against the man who shot Lucien.
"He tried to take Lucien from me and I want to end him for it." Her eyes cut over to Andrew and her words made my blood run cold.
She glared with more hatred, more rage than I had ever seen in her. I had witnessed or caused nearly every emotion imaginable within her but this was new, this was dark. Part of me wants to deny her, knowing that Lucien's mission in life seemed to be preserving the light within her but I wasn't Lucien. I understood her bloodlust and I couldn't deny her the satisfaction.
Everyone was waiting for my reaction in silence, watching me with heated stares and trying to anticipate my next moves. My eyes locked with my mother's for a brief second and she gave me the smallest nod of her head. I lifted my arm and flattened my palm, allowing her delicate fingers to grasp the gun and take it from me. My eyes were glued to her, studying her every move and reaction to the weight of the gun in her hand. I watched for hesitation, for fear but saw only anger and determination.
She carefully guided the barrel towards Andrew who was losing a large amount of blood already and barely conscious. Her arms were extended and I saw her check the safety with her thumb, walking herself through every instruction I had ever given her about firing a gun. Her soft sweet hands were positioned perfectly around the gun, holding it firmly in place. I had halfway expected her to be shaking or scared but she was calm and collected. No, she was pissed.
Positioning myself behind her, I placed my hands on her hips, gripping them tightly and pulling her until her back was flushed with my chest. She pressed herself against me, drawing off my strength and darkness as she readied herself to pull the trigger. I lowered my head and whispered words that only she could hear.
"Make him pay for what he did, Sophie. I am right here with you and I fucking love you."
My words caused her to relax slightly and I felt her lean against me, wanting my physical support as much as my emotional support as she moved her fingers to the trigger.
"Look at me," She snapped at Andrew who was still barely clinging to conscience.
"I said, looking at me!" She yelled again.
Andrew flopped his head up at her, looking at her through black eyes and a swollen face. No one in the room thought she was going to be able to follow through with it, including myself. She was too pure, too compassionate to carry out such a vicious task. She was everything that was good in the world and we all expected her to show Andrew mercy at the last second but the bastard made one final mistake. He looked up at our furious Sophie with the gun in her hand and he smiled. That asshole fucking smiled.
Without hesitation, she pulled the trigger. Six loud pops in rapid succession hitting Andrew in various places across his chest and abdomen. His body shook with the impact of each bullet before he slumped forward, letting the entry wounds drain the life from him in a matter of seconds. The room was quiet and everyone took in what they had just witnessed as her shoulders rose and fell with heavy breaths.
I didn't know what to feel, I was furious and terrified of what I had just seen but I was so damn proud at the exact same time.
"Cut this mother fucker up and send the piece to any family he has got left." I said to the guard as he moved to pick up the trap.
"No, enough. This ends now. You said it yourself: it is an endless cycle of killing and revenge. Just put a stop to it, Braton and let this be the end, please."
Our girl still got some light left in her after all.
"Boss?" The guard called, wanting confirmation of my orders.
"You heard her, do what she fucking says. Get rid of this piece of shit."
I gently took the gun from her hand and replaced the mental with my own blood stained hand. We had never wanted Sophie to be a part of our dark world, but in this moment, I realized that it was inevitable. She was baptized in darkness tonight but still managed to maintain pieces of her tender heart.
"Let go change so we can see our Lucien." She said as she tugged at my hand.
I followed her up the stairs and into the house as she led me towards my large master bathroom to finally change and wash up. Every step she took became a little shower and uncoordinated as we reached my bedroom and I realized that she was crashing from the adrenaline that she had been running on for the past few hours. Bracing her weight on the dresser, she held herself up and let out a shaky breath as the events of the night came crashing down on her.
"Easy, baby." I said quickly, grabbing her side so she didn't collapse.
My eyes were glued to her and I readied my hands to take her weight as we made our way into my bathroom. Once she had made it to the sink, I quickly turned the walk-in shower on and let the hot water run while I helped her out of her dress. I unzipped the back and let it fall to the floor, unclasping her bra as well but quickly realizing that the thong she had gifted her with at the beginning of the night was nowhere to be found. She caught me staring and gave me a small smile.
"They are in Lucien's pocket." She said.
"Of course they fucking are." I scoffed, shaking my head at Lucien's insatiable need to pleasure her. It was something I understood fully and didn't blame him for in the least.
I helped our blood covered girl into the shower and undressed as fast as I could, wanting to join her beneath the scalding stream of water as quickly as possible. She was dazed with a glossy eyed expression as she stared down at the dried blood that covered her hands and arms. She rubbed at the dark red stains on her flesh once or twice, watching as the water that pooled near the drain turned pinkish red.
All of a sudden, her breathing picked up and she started to scrub harder at her flesh becoming more and more panicked with every pass of her hands. She clawed at her skin in an effort to remove the blood, unable to pull her eyes away from the stained spattered mess. She is going to hyperventilate and I am not good at this. What would Lucien do?
If Lucien were here, he would comfort her. He would know exactly what to say to calm her down and make her feel less panicked but I am awful at this shit.
"Calm down, Sophie. Everything is okay." I tried to force my voice to be less deep and gritty, trying to make it sound soothing instead of intimidating but it wasn't working.
She stared down at her body in horror as the dried blood slowly started to rinse away but it wasn't leaving her skin as fast enough. The sight of Lucien's blood all over her arms was too much and she finally processed what had happened that night.
"It is everywhere," she said frantically as she scrubbed and scratched at her own skin, breaking the skin with her nails.
"Sophie, stop it. You are going to hurt yourself. It is okay."
"It is not okay, none of this is okay." She wailed, becoming more and more panicked with every rapid breath she took in.
I tried to be gentle with her the way Lucien was and reached for her hands but she pulled them away, too desperate to get the blood off than to allow me comfort her. She was scratching and scraping her skin with her nails as she sobbed now in a full blown panic attack at the sight of his blood. My attempts at being gentle and comfortable were failing and she was about to hurt herself or pass out.
Fuck it, I can't be Lucien. I don't know how to be him, I am going to have to help her the only way I know how and that is just going to have to be good enough for now. Taking hold of both of her wrists, I gathered them in one of my hands and held them firmly to keep her from tearing her own flesh with her nails.
"Stop moving, Sophie." I ordered.
