Chapter 50

Alexa.

I woke up with a banging headache and every joint in my body feeling sore.

I opened my eyes and as the bright light came into my eyes I winced in pain.

I tried to get up but my body was not obliging, I tried to make sense of where I was but I could not make sense of anything.

Last thing I remembered was that I was in the garden getting some fresh air and suddenly something hit my head and I lost my consciousness.

What happened?

What am I doing here? And more importantly why was I on the floor in pains?

I kept asking myself these questions but I had no answer to them, suddenly I heard a voice that drew me out of my thoughts.

“She’s awake?” I heard a voice say.

“Isn’t she meant to be dead?” I heard another voice different from the first one say again.

Why were they questioning themselves? Am I supposed to be dead?

I opened my eyes and looked in the direction the voices were coming from and I saw two men, one hefty and tall while the other short but muscular looking down at me where I was laying on the floor.

Their eyes were dark and had no life in them and I wondered why they had a different eye color. Was something wrong with them?

“What are we going to tell the boss?” The hefty one asked as he faced his accomplice.

The boss? Who was that and why did they want me dead?

“I don’t know man,” the other one replied. “She said she was supposed to be dead and we should get rid of her body so why did she wake up?” He added as he let out a groan.

They were talking about me like I was not right in front of them there on the floor.

I tried to get up once again but my body still was not in accordance with me so I just gave up and lay there in pain.

They kept on talking but I just shut them out, I need to find a way to get out of here and fast before whoever their boss is gets back.

Suddenly, I felt my stomach start grumbling and I raised myself up with my elbows and turned my head to the side as I vomited.

I stared at the contents of my vomit and it looked greenish. What the hell?

I had not been eating these past few days so that might have added to my weakness but now I was vomiting something weird out of my body and I was puzzled as to why.

As if reading my thoughts, the two men spoke up again. “She vomited the poison, how is that even possible?” The short one said sounding incredulous.

“I honestly have no idea,” the tall one replied him also looking at me with surprise. “The boss said she was coming soon but she has not been back since last night, what the hell is going on?” He questioned as he kept looking at me.

I didn’t even care about all they were saying, I was just thinking of how to escape from here and their grasp.

It seem like something impossible to do but I was going to try.

“Brianna needs to get here fast and do something about this whole situation,” the short one let out and I was shocked.

Was I surprised that she was the one behind all this? Absolutely not but I was shocked that she hated me this much and wanted Zade so bad she wanted to kill me.

Where was Zade? Didn’t he know that I was missing?

I began questioning everything, was what I overheard that night when Zade and Brianna even the whole truth, how sure am I that Brianna didn’t make sure Zade said something inappropriate because she knew I was three.

She was a witch after all, she had super senses and must have known. I started crying as I blamed myself, I should have waited a bit longer and heard their conversation to the end but I jumped into conclusion and here I was in captivity now.

“Oh my goodness, I really need to make it out of here,” I whispered to myself still sobbing gently.

“Oh shush, boss said we should never refer to her by her name,” the tall one said to the short one chastising him for calling ‘their boss’ by her name and I rolled my eyes.

This was not the time to be crying but the time to take action and get out of here. I wonder what Brianna must have told Zade about my disappearance.

‘But wait, why didn’t I die if she really fed me poison?’ I thought to myself as I was feeling a lot of confusion.

I also noticed that after I had vomited the contents in my body out, I felt a lot stronger and the ache in my body had subsided.

So instead of the poison to kill me, it just caused a minor discomfort? Weird. Or had she given me something else mistaking it for the poison she had prepared?

I decided to try to escape while they were still talking as they had turned towards each other and were arguing.

“Does it matter? No one is here and therefore no one would hear us,” the short one said countering the other man.

“Yes it does matter, we can never say. Just to be sure don’t slip up next time,” the tall one replied sounding tired of the man in front of him.

“Whatever and why are you telling me what to do?” The short one asked as he rolled his eyes. “You’re not the boss of me,” he added in a malicious tone.

I shook my head as I tuned out their conversation and prayed my body would work with me this time.

I pushed myself up with my elbows and sat up, thankfully I was not feeling any on again and my body had decided to corporate with me.

As I sat up, I looked around for a way to get out of this place and I saw a small opening that led out of this place but to where is what I didn’t know.

I silently got up and tried to walk as quietly as I could and I was almost at the entrance to leave here when suddenly I heard them stop arguing and shout at me.

“Where do you think you’re going?” The asked angrily in unison.

Immediately I heard their voice, o started running. There was not time to be acting slow or trying to beg because I was sure they would not listen.

“This is all your fault, if you weren’t arguing with me she wouldn’t have tried to escape,” I heard one of them say to the other as they ran after me.

I ran as fast as I could trying to get away from them but I was not match for them as they eventually caught up to me and they had advantage because they knew this place better than me.

Before I knew it, air was knocked out of me as one punched me in the stomach and I fell to my knees.

“You should not hurt a woman,” the tall one reprimanded the short one who had hit me.

It was ironic because they were trying to kill me and here he was telling him not to hit me.

“Oh shut up,” he replied him and he tied my hands behind my back roughly as if the punch he gave me was not enough.

The tall one hoisted me up on his shoulders and they headed back to the spot from earlier as I kept twisting and turning trying to break free.

“Would you quit that?” He yelled at me angrily and I immediately stopped. There was no way I was getting out of this anyways so it was pointless.

When we got to the spot, he threw me Dolan on the floor roughly and I was thankful I didn’t break a bone backside of the impact as I winced in pain.

“Please let me go,” I pleaded trying to beg them to let me go even if I knew it was pointless but at least I’d know I tried.

They didn’t pay me any head as they whispered between themselves.

The short one walked to me, a malicious grin on his face which scared the living daylights out of me.

Why was he moving closer to me and what did he want?

As if reading my mind, he bent down to my level and looked me in the eyes.

“You’ve stressed us too much today and we can’t just let you leave you know?” He said to me and his words sounded more like a question that a statement. “Plus we don’t want to suffer the wrath of our boss when she comes back and see that you are not here whether dead or alive,” he added while grinning at me.

His look repulsed my and I scooted away from him as he let out a loud laugh.

“Just get it over with, you’re wasting time,” the tall one said from his back as he looked away.

“Alright,” the one in front of me simply said as he got up and walked away and I sighed in relief.

But before I knew what was happening, I felt a low to my head and I started slipping out of consciousness.

The last thing I saw before my eyes closed was the malicious smile on his face….
