Parker’s POV
“Mom, let’s talk some other time, I need to go to work now,” I said to my mom over the phone,” I knew where this conversation was heading but I was not ready.
“Come on son, I need to have grandchildren, just let me set you up on a date, you are not getting any younger, you are one successful man.”
“Mom please, I am not a kid that you will set on a blind date, I am old enough to find myself a wife,” I replied getting out of the house and entering the car so I could go to work.
“Then find one, if you don’t, expect me in the country soon and I will force your ass out till you finally get someone, is that clear?”
“Mom, remain over there when I am ready to find a wife, I will get one.”
“Really? Don’t tell me you still have your heart kept for a dead girl, come on, she is dead and out of this life for good, she will want you to be happy.“
“Mom, please, not this morning.” I ended the call and took a deep breath in the process, Jane might be dead to everyone, I am not crazy, I know she is out of this world for good but in my heart, she is alive and I can never love another the way I love her.
I have seen so many ladies but none can ever replace the spot reserved for Jane, no one.
Gosh, I don’t need to start thinking about the past this morning, I need to get myself together and focus on work, I have so many things to do and the search of finding the perfect PA is not going as well as planned at all. I wonder the ones they will be running an interview for, they will always make a mistake and I will sack them immediately.
I stopped by the coffee shop as usual and got my favourite coffee as I drove off to the company.
I was holding my coffee when a lady accidentally ran into me pouring the coffee, luckily it didn’t splash on my expensive suit, but who the hell is the bitch that dares ruin my favourite coffee? Does she have a death wish?
My anger faded off immediately after I locked eyes with her, those eyes, were special, it’s just exactly like hers, who on earth was this lady?
“Are you okay?” I questioned, the only person that brings this side of me is no more, how come she was able to turn on my switch just like that?
“I am okay sir, I am sorry, I didn’t look at where I was going and I ruined your coffee, can I please get another one for you?”
“No, you don’t need to.” I insisted politely but I was paralyzed by her eyes, is she the one or just a coincidence?
“Please, I insist, I actually came in here for an interview to become a PA but I was not granted an audience, I felt so sad because I really needed this job, so I was lost in my thoughts, that is how I mistakenly ruined your coffee.”
“OH, it’s no problem, you can get the coffee.” I finally gave in for her to do what she felt like doing.
“Okay thank you so much sir, I will be right back, I know of a place that sells the best creamy coffee.”
“Hold on, who are you? How on earth did you know I love creamy coffee?” What if is she? Does she have a twin? That’s impossible, I know them so well but she is dead, maybe this is like her look-alike though the body size and others are different, but the eyes, I can’t forget the eyes at all.
She explained saying she saw the coffee that poured and then I allowed her to go get the coffee.
Immediately she left, I said to Ruth, “My office now.”
“Yes, boss.” I walked to my office with Ruth walking behind me.
I took my seat and Ruth started pleading,” I am so sorry sir, we know how you hate female PAs, there was a mistake with the interview request, but don’t worry when she returns, I will tell her to leave at once.”
“Don’t do that.”
“Sir!!!”
“Are you deaf?” I yelled at her.
“No sir, I am so sorry sir.” She pleaded.
“What do you know about her?” I asked and Ruth told me the details about her based on the application she submitted.
“So her full name is Calista Luella.”
“Yes sir.”
“Calista, Cali!!!” I kept calling her name and I walked to my window looking at the beauty of nature out there.
“What do you want me to do sir?”
“Ruth, what do you think of a change? Isn’t that perfect?”
“Sir??”
“You are so foolish, I mean in this company, changes are allowed, like allowing a female to work as my personal assistant, after all the guys are not doing great at it.”
“You mean, you will employ her?”
“Exactly what I just said,” I added.
“Should I tell her when she returns that she has gotten the job already?”
“No, she has gotten the job but she must not know, tell her she is going to have her interview done by me.”
“Okay boss, I am so happy, thank goddess you finally had a change of heart, most of the workers were thinking you were gay, it’s such a relief.”
“What did you just say?” My mood changed at once.
“I mean, I will tell her sir, I will start leaving.”
“You better.” She took her leave.
This is crazy, and so annoying, how on earth will they say, I am gay? Like who does that? Take a look at me, I am super handsome and girls are flocking around me, so why will I be attracted to a man like me, this is crazy, so crazy.
Gay my foot, I saw Asher's mother call, I know why she is calling, maybe my mother already talked to her, can’t these ladies give me a breathing space about the marriage talk?
