Chapter 56

Asher returned home later that night in fury. He was too annoyed to notice the figure sitting on the couch in his living room.

Only when he was about to walk past the couch, he heard someone call out his name softly.

“Asher,”

Asher stopped for a second, he cast her a single glance and raised a brow at her.

Agnes gently stood to her feet. She noticed the foul look on his face aside from the bruise on his nose, he looked visibly annoyed.

“Are you alright? I've been waiting all day for you to come to me. But you didn't even spare me a look until I stopped you.”

“I'm not in the mood. I'd like to be alone in my room tonight. Goodnight.”

Agnes stood there bewildered and speechless at his words and irritated tone. She wasn't even given a chance to say a word to him before he walked out on her.

This was the first time that he behaved so cold with her.

“Asher!” She called and took two steps forward to go after him but she stopped midway when he didn't turn back to her.

Her heart sank to the bottom of her stomach. She hugged her arm feeling her heart ache so much. Asher changed drastically after meeting Olivia.

He no longer cared about her feelings like he used to do in the past. It's been a long while since he touched her and whenever she makes the move on him, he brings up one excuse or the other.

“Fuck it!” She cussed out, her voice breaking into the living room.

Agnes didn't realize that she was crying until a tear drop rolled off her cheeks and dropped on her hand.

Her confrontation with Olivia wasn't enough to get all of Asher's love, affection and attention back.

“I'll have to kill the bitch. I don't fucking care how but I'm gonna do it. I've been with you too long to let you go, Asher. You're fucking mine!”

Meanwhile at Asher's room.

Asher picked up the bottle of whiskey and turned a little amount into a glass cup. He placed the bottle down and left for his window.

After his meeting with Fred this afternoon, he already concluded that Olivia needs his help to tackle her power greedy uncle and his wife.

She was all alone in this world, all she wanted was love yet he used it against her. He has never felt so bad in his entire life.

He spent all his years hating on someone who wasn't at fault. She also lost her parents at such an early age and must have gone through hell without them by her side.

He punished her for a crime that she didn't commit and now he couldn't get her out of his thoughts no matter how hard he tried.

Asher brought the glass to his lips and gulped down a mouthful of whiskey. The liquid burned deep into his throat as it glided down to his stomach.

He sighed and lifted his head up for a second.

“What have you done to me, Olivia? Why can't I get rid of you from my head?”

He stood before his window for a long while occasionally taking a sip from his glass and refilling until his gaze became hazy.

He cleared his throat feeling tipsy.

Asher reached for his phone in his pants pocket, he scrolled through it until he found what he was searching for.

It was a picture of Olivia which he had taken a day ago at the conference meeting. He just couldn't help but capture her that day.

“Look at you, smiling so much whereas I can't even get a good sleep. I smell you on my bed, I see you in my dreams. You are always everywhere but you don't want me as much as I want you.”

He brought his phone to his chest and shut his eyes.

“I can't deal with this pain anymore. I'm sorry for putting you through a lot—”

Asher heard his door open, he tried to turn around only to stagger but he was quick to stabilize himself.

His eyes fell on the blurry image rushing to him. Soon, the image started getting clear until he recognized who it was.

A broad grin appeared on his lips.

“It's you. I was just thinking about you, Olivia. I—I c—can't stop thinking about y—you.” He stuttered swaying from side to side until he fell on his knees.

Agnes eyes were filled with tears as she clutched him to herself. Her heart broke with each words he uttered.

She couldn't picture her life without him in it. She has invested all her time and effort into their relationship to let another woman take her place.

“A—Asher.” She whispered, hugging him closer.

She noticed that he stopped moving and soon the glass on his left hand rolled off and the ehiskey spilled on the floor.

“You can only belong to one woman, Asher. And that's me. Olivia is and will always be your enemy, remember that. Her family is responsible for the death of your parents. Don't be fooled by those emotions—”

“I love you.” Asher whispered in his drunken state only for Agnes to gulp down.

She brought her hand to her lips to muffle the squeal that threatened to break out of her throat. This was the height of it all, Olivia must go in order for her to remain with Asher.

“You don't mean that, you're drunk. I know you love me. You really do, Olivia was just a passing phase in your life and you've successfully gotten rid of her. She's your bitter past, the reason you're an orphan.”

Thereon, Agnes made a silent vow to herself. She must teach Asher how to hate Olivia once more and also get rid of Olivia.

And for that to happen, she needed to create a big rift between them. Something that would break Asher and also reveal the type of person Olivia truly is to him.

“I'll make the bitch suffer.”
