CHAPTER 51
CHAPTER 51
The next morning..
Asher sat before the long dining table staring into space. Before him was a white cup of coffee which had steam oozing out of it.
He sat there in pure silence while his mind spiralled and traveled across the events that has been going on in his personal life.
He strived so hard to take down Ryan Reynold after harboring hatred against the old man for years. He hated the fact that he allowed his own grand daughter get everything while he was left with nothing but suffering and hate.
But all that changed the moment he found his way into Olivia's heart. Even though she grew up in wealth she still craved to be loved.
He used that to his advantage, courted her, made her fall in love with him and dumped her. She must have been heartbroken and devastated by his actions.
And he should have been happy that he finally got what he wanted but here was sitting before a table in a lonely house drinking black coffee.
“Darn it.” He cussed and picked up the cup of coffee off the table. “I hate her.”
That has been his mantra. That was the only way he found a little amount of peace.
Olivia has been glued to his mind ever since he left her. He knew his actions were almost unforgivable but deep down he wanted her to accept him.
The sound of heels drawing close to where he sat made him frown a bit. No one was home other than him since Agnes was currently on a vacation.
He turned his head to the entrance only to arch his brow in surprise.
“Babe?” Asher called out in surprise as he placed the cup back on the table.
Her vacation was supposed to last for a whole week.
“You came back early.”
Agnes sighed hard. She turned to the servant walking behind her with her luggage.
“Take my things to our room.” She ordered and turned back to Asher.
“Oh, baby. I missed you.”
She encircled her hands around his neck, hugging him from behind. She planted a kiss against his left cheek.
“What happened? Did anything happen over there?”
Agnes detached herself from him with a shake of her head. She took the next seat to him.
“My friend and her boyfriend broke up. And we had to cut the trip short. I can't imagine what she must be going through at the moment.” She thought aloud. “I don't even want to think about it.”
Asher’s smile froze for a second. If ever a time comes when he'll have to part ways with Agnes, she'll be broken badly.
He couldn't even tell her that another woman was occupying his thoughts without doing much.
He thought he loved her but that didn't seem like the case anymore. When he closes his eyes at night or in the day, all he sees is one woman.
Olivia. The same woman that he's supposed to despise.
“That’s awful. Go get some rest, I'll be leaving for the office shortly.” Asher said with a small smile on his face.
He made an attempt to rise up to his feet only for Agnes to hold him by his wrist.
“Asher.”
He looked down at her before sitting back down on the wooden chair.
“Tell me,” He urged.
“You know you don't have to go over to her company again. You've gotten your shares and your revenge on her. Now it's time to focus on your parent's law firm.”
Her words were partially true. His former self who hated Olivia would have readily agreed to her words but right now things were different.
He wanted to be so close to Olivia. He wanted to have a glimpse of her every now and then. He wanted more!
Asher slowly retracted his hand from her grip and almost immediately Agnes eyes fell on her hand hanging in air.
“Uhm..that’s not possible right now. There's still some—”
“Really? You suddenly don't hate the sight of her anymore. Don't tell me that you're already getting soft.”
Asher went loss for words, he brought his wrist up to look at the watch around his wrist.
“Uh.. I'm already running late, Agnes. We'll have a proper conversation when I'm back.”
He didn't wait for her response before rushing out of his house. Once he got into his car, he heaved a deep sigh.
.
.
Back at Jade’s apartment..
Aiden watched with interest as Alice moved around the kitchen without breaking a single sweat.
The tantalizing aroma from the breakfast she was making reached his nose. He was too engrossed admiring the beauty making breakfast to even notice the person standing behind him.
“I wonder what the bitch is up to.” Jade scoffed as she pulled one of the chairs out.
The chair made a loud screech on the floor and it had Aiden turning. Gradually, the little smile on his face died down when he spotted Jade sitting one chair away from him.
“Of course. It's just you and your jealous spirit.” He said in-between a loud snort.
Jade pretended not to have heard him. It was too early to be entangled in one of their banters.
“Hmm. What's for breakfast?”
The two turned their heads to see Olivia pulling out a seat opposite them. They saw her smile freeze a little.
Olivia's brows creased slightly. If these two were sitting before her, who the hell was in the kitchen making breakfast?
Her head flung to the open kitchen only to catch the back view of Alice stirring something in a bowl.
Olivia's eyes fell back on Jade.
“What the fuck is she doing in there?” She snapped in a lowered tone.
“Trying to win you over I guess. We are about to have breakfast made by the daughter of the people who wants us both dead.”
“And you allowed it?” Olivia whispered back leaning slightly over the table.
Her lips pulled up into a wide grin when she saw Alice approaching the table with a bowl on her hands.
“Alice, I had no idea that you can cook.” She faked a gasp. “And I don't think it's right for our guest to cook while we have two other people who are capable of doing so” Olivia's said through clenched teeth with her eyes fixated on Jade.
Alice chuckled innocently and placed the bowl of salad on the table.
“Mum taught me how to cook. We didn't have cooks or servants who helped with the household chores and cooking so mum and I did most of it.”
Olivia forced a smile.
“So what are we having for breakfast? It smells so good.”
Alice beamed. “It’s one of your favorite. And I'm sure that you're going to love it.”
Alice left for the kitchen afterwards only for Olivia to fall back into her seat with a deep sigh leaving her lips.
“Great. We are about to eat the food cooked by our enemy. I'm sure Pops must be dying to see me.”
“Well I don't want to die. So I'll skip breakfast. I can't trust her.” Jade whispered.
Aiden arched a brow at the back and forth whispering between the two. He didn't care if the food was poisoned or not, he still wanted it.
“Good. More food for those who actually wants to eat. And just so you know, even though you're not eating with us, it's still your turn to do the dishes.”
That was it.
The last thread holding her sanity intact snapped. She launched an attack on Aiden trying to claw his face out with her fingers.
“I’m going to kill you!” Jade yelled.
Olivia sat there watching them struggle with themselves.
“I’ve never met a more troublesome pair than you both.”
