Chapter 49
Asher arched a brow as Jade walked to where he was standing. He was certain that she was here to make her comeback at him.
“I really don't want to get myself involved in your couple's fight. It happens and—”
“Shut the hell up.” Jade interrupted in a firm tone. “And besides nothing romantic can happen between me and him. I hired him specifically for Olivia and a lot of things can happen between a bodyguard and his boss.”
Asher ran his tongue over his teeth trying to mask up the pain and anger he felt after she spoke. He pulled his gaze off her and took a short look at his wristwatch.
“I assume you stopped me to have your glorious shine. But I'm running late to a meeting and you're wasting my time.”
“It's about Olivia.”
Asher's face relaxed immediately after hearing Olivia's name. His brows knotted and he took a step closer to Jade.
“What about her?” His tone was rather impatient.
Jade exhaled deeply. This was the perfect time to tell him everything he needed to know so that he'd stop trying to get back at Olivia for something that she wasn't responsible for.
Just when she parted her lips to spill all the tea, she remembered that Asher was still a suspect for the death of Ryan.
She paused her lips and took one step back with a small shake of her head.
“No,” She whispered and smiled softly. “It's fine.”
Jade didn't give him a chance to speak, she took another step back before turning away from him.
All Asher could do was to stare at her moving back. He had a feeling that Jade had something important to tell him about Olivia but stopped at the last minute after recollecting something.
He turned away and began heading to the exit with the thought of Olivia being in actual danger messing with his head.

The board members finally came up with a date to Introduce Olivia as the current sitting CEO of Reynold's group.
The rest of her week was about to be cramped with a lot of signing and planning to be done. The only time she'll be able to get some things for herself was today.
“You can just let me handle it. I know your taste in fashion.”
There was a painful smile on Olivia's face as she lifted her head to Alice sitting before her and then to Jade and Aiden standing next to the door in the office.
“Unfortunately, the only person who knows my taste in fashion is no more. Pops knew everything about me down to what underwear I prefer wearing. It's so sad that I'll never be able to see him again.”
Alice caught Olivia's hands on the desk and squeezed on it gently. Her eyes filled with worry and concern when she caught the tears threatening to fall off the latter's eyes.
“It's okay, Olivia. You and I know that grandfather is in a better place and he's watching over you and I. You were lucky enough to have spent enough time with him before he was taken away from us.”
Olivia forced a smile on her face and gently retracted her hands. She sniffed, stood to her feet and picked up her purse from her desk.
“You can wait right here for us—”
“Oh no, I want to come along. There's really nothing to do in here.”
“No! You're not coming along with us!” Jade fired back at Alice.
“She's coming with us, Jade.” Olivia cut in sharply. She took a glance over to her cousin sister and smiled. “Come on, Alice. I'm sure that you'd probably want to get something good to wear for my big day.”
Jade heaved a frustrated sigh. She couldn't believe that Olivia was actually walking straight into the carefully laid up trap that Alice and her scheming parents had set up for her.
“Fuck this.” She cussed loudly before leaving the office.
Behind her was Aiden closing up the gap behind her.
“You seem jealous of the pretty lady. Are you feeling insecure?”
Jade scoffed and stopped on her tracks. She turned to him with her head tilted to the side.
“What exactly is wrong with you? You think I'm feeling insecure about that scheming bitch? You give me more reasons to snap your neck off your body every fucking minute, Aiden.”
“And you give me more reasons to hate people and most especially you. You just can't stand ladies prettier than you are.”
A slanted grin crawled up Jade's face.
“At least you admit that I'm pretty. I hope you never forget it, loser.”
The drive to the mall was longer than it should be with the tension in the car. Jade didn't miss a chance to throw awful gazes at Aiden and Alice.
The car felt stuffy for her and all she wanted to do was to escape this devastating silence burning in the car.
“I don't think your assistant likes me, Olivia. Maybe i shouldn't be here—”
“Oh, you're smart enough to decipher it. Why don't you just jump out of the car then? Do us all a favor.” Jade scorned, she noticed Olivia staring at her but she chose to ignore.
“You don't have to worry, she has a problem with every living thing.”
Jade rolled her eyes and remained quiet for the rest of the journey.
They finally arrived at the mall. Since they were all going to be present at the event Olivia was organizing, they had to get a new set of wears for the event.
Jade was finally able to breath with Alice out of sight. She walked into the ladies section going through several collections of dresses and purse.
Just when she spotted a shiny black silk dress, she made an attempt to reach for it only for Alice to appear out of nowhere and pointed to the mannequin.
“I think I want that one.” She said softly, fsving the sales manager.
“How do you sleep at night knowing fully well what your parents did? And you're about to do the same to the innocent olivia.”
Alice smiled at the sales manager who left with the piece to get it packaged for her. She then turned to Jade with a smug look on her face.
“I sleep pretty well, servant. Just because she brushed you up doesn't give you the right to speak to a lady like me.”
“Yes, a lady who has known poverty all her life.” Jade made a clap back which rendered Alice speechless for a while. “You've been familiar with suffering all your life even though you had the last name of a wealthy man. It's just a pity”
Anger consumed Alice deeply that she was forced to raise her hand ready to strike Jade on the face only for the latter to hold her hand back and ram her hand into Alice's face.
Alice was left speechless. She lifted her head to Jade in shock with her hand pressed firmly against her cheek.
“If you dare try to raise up your hands at me, I'll send back whatever remains of you as soon as I'm done with you.” Jade warned. “You might have fooled Olivia but you're never going to fool me. Do you get that?”
“What is going on here?”
Olivia's voice broke into the room. Immediately Alice rushed to her cousin's side feigning tears.
“I was only trying to—”
“I slapped her. And I have no regrets doing so.” Jade confessed and left the section to them.
