Chapter 23
Marcella
I paced back and forth in the lavishly decorated living room of their mansion, my feet almost stomping against the marble floor. Siting and pacing was the only way I could wait for Killian to come back. The grandfather clock on the mantle chimed twice, signaling the time to be two o’clock. My heart raced like a stallion let loose in the wild, practically leaping out of my chest. The thought of Killian, Jonah, and Dom, out there, fighting their enemies, sent chills down my spine.
I stopped, my body going rigid as the sound of slamming doors echoed through the mansion. My grip on the armrest of the plush sofa I had been sitting in tightened. Heavy footsteps reverberated throughout the hallway, growing nearer and louder. My breath caught in my throat, my green eyes wide with fear.
The front door flew open and in walked my husband, Killian, followed by Jonah and Dom, each with grim expressions etched on their faces. I didn't care about the blood stains on their clothes or the smell of gunpowder and smoke that clung to them. All I cared about was that he was alive.
I bolted from my spot and threw myself at him, my arms wrapping around his broad chest, relief washing over me like a tidal wave. He groaned in pain, drawing my attention to a gash on his arm, and I gasped, my filling with tears. "Oh my God, baby, you're hurt!"
Killian stiffened but didn't let go of me, instead turning me towards the source of the commotion behind him. My jaw dropped, and my heart dropped even further. It was my sister, Alexandra, the traitorous bitch, who had sided with our enemy, Tony.
"Marcy," Alexandra whined, her eyes brimming with unshed tears as Jonah held her tightly. "Please, help me."
Anger unlike anything I'd ever felt before surged through my veins, overpowering any ounce of love I still harbored for my sister. Alexandra had betrayed us all, slept with the enemy, and now she expected mercy? Fat chance.
I marched towards her and without any hesitation my hand smacked across her face. "No," Marcella spat, her voice cold as ice. "You brought this on yourself, Alexandra. I tried to save you, but you wouldn't listen. Now you can rot in the hell you created for yourself.”
With that I left them standing there, ignoring the wails from her, I walked to my room and slammed the door shut. I was done being the good one. I was done letting everyone fuck me over.
I collapsed onto the plush bed, tears streaming down my face as I tried to calm my racing heart. Betrayal and hurt consumed me, but with every tear that fell, a part of me also felt a sense of relief. Relief that I no longer had to pretend to care for someone who had turned against us.
But then the guilt set in. Alexandra was still my sister, no matter what she had done. And as much as I wanted to hate her, a part of me still loved her. It was a confusing and conflicting feeling that left my head spinning.
"Marcella," Killian's voice broke through my thoughts, soft and gentle as he sat on the edge of the bed next to me. He reached out and wiped away my tears with his thumb before cupping my cheek in his hand. "You did what needed to be done."
I shook my head, unable to formulate coherent words. My emotions were too raw and tangled up inside me.
"I know it hurts," he continued, his voice filled with understanding. "But she made her choice, mia belleza. She chose Tony over us."
His words hit me like a punch to the gut, reigniting the anger within me. How could she betray us like this? We were family.
I wiped my face with my hands and turned my attention to my husband. I was hurt and I had to take care of him "Tell me what you want?" I asked, my voice muffled by his shirt.
Killian's arms wrapped around me tightly, comforting and strong. "All I want is you," he murmured, pressing a kiss to my forehead.
After a few moments, I pulled away and took his hand, leading him towards the bathroom. "Sit," I told him, pointing towards the toilet seat. He obediently sat down which was my first clue to his tiredness.
I rummaged through the medicine cabinet for some antiseptic and bandages while Killian watched me with weary eyes. My heart ached at the sight of him injured and exhausted from yet another dangerous mission.
"This might sting a little," I warned as I poured antiseptic over his gash. He winced slightly but didn't complain as I carefully cleaned the wound and bandaged it up.
"How did it go?" I asked softly as we made our way back to our bedroom.
"It was a success," Killian replied wearily. But he said the next words with a small satisfied smile on his face "But we got a couple of good surprises when we got there.."
My eyes widened at his words. “What surprises?”
“Mateo, Tony's nephew and right hand was there, naked with your sister. We got them both.” I inhaled sharply at his words. He nodded and carried own. “And Dom found out much evidence that can help us with Tonys end. That too collected by his dear nephew. He had plans to take his uncle out and rule as the new Don.” Killian laughed at his own words.
My heart sank at this news but also felt relieved that it will finally be over. "Its ending soon?"
"Yes," Killian groaned. He gripped the back of my neck and pulled me in for a hard kiss. "But we are never ending, you get me? You are mine.."
I let out a small sigh of relief before pulling Killian and finishing wrapping him up. It turned out, the bullet just mildly grazed him so the stitches were not needed.
I took off his clothes slowly and started to remove mine., all the while feeling his hot gazed moving over me, I grinned at him, amused by his reaction. “Not today Mister. Today we take care of you.”
He pulled me towards him with his arm around me. “That is also a way to take care of me.” I laughed at his words and pulled him towards the shower. Making sure not to wet the bandage.
Once we were clean, I pulled us into bed and snuggled against his warm body. We lay there in comfortable silence for a while before Killian spoke again.
"I'm glad Alexandra didn't cause any more harm."
I stiffened at the mention of my sister, still feeling anger and betrayal towards. “We will not talk about her.”
He was silent for a few seconds but I guess my words weren't enough. “I have to make a decision. And I don't want to hurt you.”
I turned my back to him not wanting to think about her or what he was implying. It was too much. I heard him sigh and move. In the next second he was wrapped around me and felt a light kiss on my head and then my neck. “You are my everything Marcella.”
My breath hitched at the pure heaviness of his voice behind his words but before I could reply, he was snoring softly in my ear.
And my reply floated in the wide air. “You are my everything too Killian.”
