Chapter 133
“ Look here is baby A’s head.” Dr. Rae said happily. He went all over the baby’s body showing us organs and letting us know that everything was developing normally. Then again with baby B. “ Did you want to know the gender of your babies?” he asked.
“ Yes we do!” Faith said excitedly as she sat up on her elbows.
Dr.Rae chuckled. “ Baby A is a boy and baby B is also a boy.”
Faith smiled. “Thank you. I’m excited to go home and tell my siblings and mom is already so excited she’s been itching to buy things.”
Dr. Rae looked at the both of us. “ I’m happy you both made it out of your situation and can finally have a happy life.”
I hugged him and handed him the suitcase. “ We are too and thank you again. This means so much to us.”
“Think nothing of it. I don’t need this. Just seeing you both are doing fine is payment enough. I will need to see her next week for a glucose test to make sure she’s not getting diabetes.”
“ I’ll personally bring her in.” I said. “ I need you to accept this from us. You have no idea what it means to the both of us for you to believe us and see us like this. Surely you have a kid that will be going or is in college?”
Dr.Rae smiled. “ You’ve got me. I have a highschool senior.”
“Take this and pay for their college and set up a trust fund.” I said. Without another question he took the briefcase and nothing else was said.
Once in the truck the girls started talking about names and how excited they were to be able to raise their kids together. I chuckled and pulled Faith closer to me in the seat. “ I love you and I am so happy to have gotten to come here today.”
“Me too.” she said as she kissed my cheek.
Faith’s POV
When we left the doctor’s office we went by to get brand new phones as promised, but the store was closed and he promised he would bring me back in a few days or we could order whatever I wanted and have it shipped to us. As I sat next to Brian and in the truck with the rest of my family I knew that this was the beginning of a wonderful life. I didn’t have any more fears of anything happening to me. I know I had felt this way before when Brian and I first met, but it was different now. There was a certainty that filled my heart and I just knew everything would be okay and it made me feel so alive. We pulled into a Dairy Queen and I knew I shouldn’t, but I ordered everything I wanted plus what I knew the kids would want.
“ You knew I wasn’t kidding when I told you to order everything you wanted.” Brian said laughing. “ They are going to never want to see us again by the time Emily is finished.”
“We don’t have a Dairy Queen where we are and I don’t want to crave something and not have it. I don’t want you to think you have to drive all the way down here to get me an ice cream either.” I said as Brian kissed my forehead.
“You know I would love.”
“I know you would and I don’t want to feel bad if you did.” I said.
“Don’t ever feel bad because I love you Faith.”
“Okay lovebirds I want to order now.” Sebastian said, grinning from the back seat.
Once we all got our ice cream and the extra was put away in the coolers we made our way back home and enjoyed each other's company. I wanted to get home and give the kids their dinner and ice cream. I knew they would love it and I missed seeing their happy faces. As soon as we pulled up the drive near the house the dogs rushed out to greet us followed by Jess and Garret. Brian and Sebastian helped us all out of the truck then got the coolers out of the bed while Jason, Emily, and I made our way inside.
“ Daddy, what did you bring us!” Garret asked excitedly.
Brian grinned. “ When is the last time you had Dairy Queen little man?'' Both Garret’s and Jess’ eyes lit up and they hugged him.
I had not felt this happy in a long time and my heart was so full. I wanted to live in this moment forever. I knew that in a few short hours today would be over and tomorrow would come, but I hoped it would be as special as this moment was right now.
Once the coolers were brought in Emily and I helped put away the food that wasn’t being eaten and she had Sebastian take what she wanted over to her house. When the kids had finished eating and cleaned their mess Brian helped me wipe everything down and go up to tell the kids goodnight.
“Another story!” Jess demanded as Brian finished the second story of the night.
“ Baby girl, I think it’s time for bed. I’ve read you two stories and I promise I’ll read more tomorrow.”
“Awe man, but I’m not tired.” Garret said as he yawned.
“ I beg to differ.” I said as I leaned against the door frame. “Come with me and I’ll tuck you in.” I said, holding out my hand. He reluctantly got off of Jess’ bed and followed me to his room.
“ I love you.” I said before kissing his forehead. “ I’ll see you in the morning and we can have chinese for breakfast if you want.”
He grinned. “ I love you too Faith and I’m so happy to have you back at home.”
“ Me too little man.” I said as I closed the door.
I met Brian in the hallway as he closed the door to Jess and Astrid’s room. “ Did she get tucked in okay?”
He chuckled. “ Yes, but she knows I think the sun shines out of her butt and will do whatever she wants me to. I just can’t help it, she's too cute.”
