I lay on my bed purely naked, biting my nails nervously.

Our clothes were everywhere, on the floor, the couch, the bed….

Jack stirred beside me and smiled at me.

‘You did this,’ I pronounced.

His eyes widened ‘I did this? Common Tess, we are both adults here, and nobody forced you to do anything.’

I huffed ‘You forced me’

‘When did I ever do that?’

‘When you wore that annoying look on your face and said some fancy words just to get me to fuck you.’

He chuckled, ‘And it worked. You couldn’t resist my charms, it’s not my fault that you were all over me.’

I raised a brow ‘All over you?’

He nodded, ‘Yes, you didn’t hesitate when I kissed you to kiss me back fiercely, and then, you rode me like a tall horse.’

‘A tall horse, really?’

He laughed ‘I know it might not be the perfect example to use, but believe me, you are fucking awesome on top’

I winced and turned away.

‘What? Did I say something wrong?’

I snapped ‘How are you so comfortable with this? Don’t you have any emotions? Don’t you think about Shirley at all?’

He frowned ‘Tess, we had a good time. I had the best sex ever, and I’m not going to feel bad about it.’

‘At the cost of someone else’s happiness?’

‘What about your own happiness? What about my happiness? We deserve to be happy too.’

I blinked. ‘You are unbelievable, and I don’t know why I keep doing this with you.’

I jumped out of bed and started picking up my clothes from the floor.

I felt a slight pain in my neck, and I touched the area.

‘Sorry love, I couldn’t really control myself. I gave you a couple of hickeys’

My eyes widened ‘Hickeys? Why the fuck will you do that?’

He yawned ‘Because the sex was too good’

I gasped and started putting on my clothes quickly while he stared at me.

‘Can you just stop looking at me?’

‘I can’t look away when there is a gorgeous woman in front of me.’

I opened my mouth to respond to him, but my phone started ringing.

I sighed and grabbed it, but the name of the person calling me threw me off balance.

‘It’s Shirley, fuck!!! What do I do? What do I even say? Wait a minute, do you think she knows?’ I asked, panicking.

Jack sat up ‘Just calm down, Tess, and stop spiraling. Shirley doesn’t know anything because if she did, she would already be here, cutting us open.’

My heart was pounding. I knew this was a fucking mistake. I knew it.’

‘Just pick her call.’

‘And say what to her, huh?’

He blinked ‘She is your friend, just ask her how she is doing. Have a normal conversation with her.’

‘I might spill everything.’

‘You won’t. Take a deep breath and answer the call. If you don’t answer, she might worry.’

I swallowed and stared at the phone vibrating in my hand for a second until I finally answered the call.

‘Hey girl,’ I said, my voice quite hoarse.

Jack started laughing, and I immediately flashed him a warning look.

‘Hi Tess, what’s up?’

‘Nothing much, just doing my thing. What about you?’

‘I’m good. Can we meet up, please? Chloe invited me to hang out with her, and I want you to meet her.’

I scratched my head ‘Oh. Uhmm, where are you guys meeting?’

‘At the eatery in the park. Please dress up quickly and try to be on time. We are meeting there by 5pm’

I nodded ‘I will be there’

‘Okay, see you soon,’ she said excitedly and hung up.

I threw the phone on the bed and folded my arms.

‘What is it?’ Jack asked, very concerned.

‘I’m leaving soon, so dress up and leave.’

He stood up from the bed. ‘You are meeting her?’

I nodded.

‘Are you sure you can handle it?’

I threw my hands in the air in exhaustion. ‘I don’t know, Jack, I don’t think I’m that courageous to tell her that I have been fucking her ex-boyfriend.’

‘That’s my girl.’

‘I’m not your girl,’ I fired back at him.

He chuckled ‘Okay, I know it won’t be easy for you, but you can do this.’

I rolled my eyes ‘Just leave. I don’t need your damning courageous words.’

‘As you wish,’ he said, winking at me.
