Chapter 610: Discussing Previous Schemes
Miguel's face turned ghostly pale as the students grilled him in front of everyone.
Charles stepped up behind Grace, his icy stare locked on Miguel, making him feel like a trapped animal.
But there was no way out—students surrounded him on all sides!
One of the students yelled, "What are you waiting for? Apologize to Ms. Windsor!"
Bianca stormed over, hands on her hips, and shouted, "You're such a jerk! Say sorry to my mom! Or you're not going anywhere!"
With Grace, Charles, and an angry Bianca closing in, Miguel was completely lost.
By now, their commotion had drawn a crowd, with people gathering to watch the drama unfold.
Among the onlookers were familiar faces and strangers alike. But with Charles there, no one dared to step in.
His ally Flora was nowhere to be found, and he hadn't seen her in ages.
After all, he was connected to Kismet, so why should he apologize?
His eyes darted around, his face changing colors, and suddenly he shouted to the crowd, "Help! They're gonna hit me! All I said was her painting skills weren't good enough, and now they're gonna beat me up!"
Just as he was shouting, Charles moved in with a cold, menacing look.
Charles, tall and imposing, took just two strides to reach Miguel, radiating a chilling aura that could scare anyone stiff with just a glance.
Miguel, terrified, clammed up and stood frozen, his face drained of color.
Charles' intimidating presence silenced the crowd, and no one dared to step forward to help Miguel.
Feeling cornered, Miguel suddenly collapsed to the ground, his mind racing with Kismet's previous warnings.
Kismet had told him that Charles was the most powerful man in Silverlight City, and his Montague Group was way more influential and wealthy than several Adams Groups combined.
Despite his young age, Charles' decisive actions made him a force to be reckoned with, feared by all businesses in Silverlight City, including the Adams family.
Miguel, regretting his earlier words, immediately begged for mercy, "Mr. Montague, I won't do it again. I was wrong. I shouldn't have said that. I really thought Grace couldn't paint anymore. Please forgive me!"
Charles ignored his pleas, his cold expression unchanged, and demanded, "I heard you helped Mrs. Adams plot against Grace?"
Miguel nodded frantically, throwing Kismet under the bus, "Yes, yes, she told me to do it! It was all her idea!"
Charles' handsome face darkened, and he coldly asked, "Tell me, how did she instruct you?"
Miguel, terrified, turned even paler.
Grace, not wanting to dredge up the past, quickly said, "Forget it, it's been a long time. Don't ask."
She didn't want to cause trouble for Charles, as the Montague Group and the Adams Group had a partnership, and she didn't want old issues to mess with their collaboration.
Moreover, revealing Kismet's schemes to the crowd wouldn't be good.
Charles, however, ignored her and coldly pressed Miguel, "Speak!"
Miguel swallowed hard, shrank his neck, and quickly said, "After Grace painted that ink painting at Mr. Adams' event, you and Miss Adams were still engaged. Mrs. Adams wanted to teach Grace a lesson, to make her back off and stay away from you. She found me and told me to spread rumors about her painting, to shame her out of the art circle. Once, when Grace was dining alone, we pretended to run into her and humiliated her publicly. That's all we did."
After finishing, Miguel tried to defend himself, "Mr. Montague, I swear it was all Mrs. Adams' idea! It wasn't my intention! I didn't do anything else!"
His words left the crowd in stunned silence, their eyes wide with shock.
Among the onlookers were Asher and Jerry, who had just come out of the venue, and coincidentally, Jeffrey and Flora also emerged.
Jeffrey's face darkened upon hearing Miguel's words, his grip on his cane tightening.
Flora's face turned pale.
Miguel, still sitting on the ground like a dog, looked at Charles with pleading eyes, hoping for mercy, having confessed everything.
Charles coldly looked at him, squinting slightly, "I'll give you two choices: leave Silverlight City and never let me see you again, or I'll take care of your future, but you'll wish you were dead."
Miguel didn't hesitate, "Mr. Montague, I'll choose the first option. I'll leave immediately, and you'll never see me again."
Charles snorted coldly and signaled to the two students blocking Miguel's path.
The students understood and stepped aside.
Miguel seized the opportunity, scrambled to his feet, and ran away, disappearing in an instant.
Charles turned his cold gaze to Grace, his expression softening into warmth.
He smiled at her, holding Yosef and her hand, "Let's go eat."
Grace nodded, "Alright, after all this, I'm really hungry."
Before leaving, Grace turned to the students who had exposed Miguel, smiling, "Don't worry about this. You were misled by others. I won't blame you. Just focus on preparing for the upcoming competition."
The students, still anxious, worried that Charles would come after them next, finally relaxed at Grace's words.
Grace and Charles walked away, followed by their two children.
The crowd slowly dispersed, chatting about the recent drama.
"Miguel looks decent, but who knew he'd do such things."
"I always thought he was Miss Adams' lackey, but he's so malicious!"
"And Mrs. Adams, how could she do that? Using Grace's bad painting to force her out of the art circle and humiliate her, that's too much."
"Mrs. Adams did it for Miss Adams, right?"
"Miss Adams and Mr. Montague's engagement was fake, and Miss Adams said it was for the Montague Group and the Adams Group's partnership. Do you think Mrs. Adams didn't know it was fake?"
"If it was fake, why did Mrs. Adams make things hard for Grace?"
"Keep your voice down. Mr. Montague is so outstanding, Miss Adams must like him! Mrs. Adams probably wanted Miss Adams and Mr. Montague together."
The gossip was carried away by the wind as the crowd dispersed.
Asher and Jerry exchanged a glance and left with cold expressions.
Only Jeffrey, with a dark face, and Flora, pale, remained.
Feeling Jeffrey's cold anger, Flora quickly explained, "Grandpa, don't be mad. I didn't know about Miguel's actions. You know what Grandma is like! Miguel must have done it on his own and blamed Grandma!"
Jeffrey snorted coldly, glaring at her, "Stop talking. If you're lying, don't ever come to the Adams Villa again!"
