Chapter 67: Past III

Edward was not the father of my child” Antonia said with shame all over her face.

“Then who’s Skylar’s father?” Meredith said.

“Regaleon, the vampire lord” Antonia replied looking at Meredith straight in the eyes.

As the truth unfolded, Meredith's heart raced with a mix of shock, disbelief, and understanding. The revelation had the power to reshape the course of their lives.

“What!!! You slept with a vampire?” Meredith said with a loud voice.

“It wasn’t intentional M, I had too much to drink in the tavern and he was very sweet to me, we did it and after that night I never thought of it again. Few days later, I slept with Edward and he released inside of me, that was why I thought he was Skylar’s father” Antonia replied and she paused for a while.

“When Skylar turned three, I noticed that he had started growing fangs whenever he was hungry, he was my child and I didn’t want any harm to come to him so I started making him blood meals but his appetite kept growing larger, that was why I wanted to tell you about it so you would tell me what to do” Antonia continued and all Meredith could do was stand and stare because she couldn’t believe all she was hearing.

“I cannot believe you kept all this from me, I am beginning to doubt what our friendship really meant to you but I can tell you one thing, I will protect your son because I consider him mine too, Goodbye Antonia” Meredith said turning to leave.

“Meredith, our friendship meant everything to me, I may not have been the best to you but I know you have been the best to me. Now I know I can rest in peace, goodbye M” Antonia said tears flowing down her eyes and a painful smile on her face.

Meredith walked away without looking back, till she reached the gateway and crossed it.

With her mission accomplished, Meredith felt a sense of peace wash over her. She felt sad with the way they parted but she knew that was the only way to make her rest in peace. As she stood up from her bed she put her face in her hands as she sobbed in both pain and relief.

Armed with the truth and newfound strength, Meredith vowed to protect Skylar and forge a brighter future, free from the shadows of the past and she will make sure he rules over Edwards empire as a payment for what he did to Antonia, her only family.

Skylar woke up from his dream with so much force that Damien had to hold him to avoid him from breaking his back bone.

“Calm down Skylar, calm down, take deep breaths” the physician said as he was there too waiting fir Skylar to wake up just as Damien instructed.

After few moments, Skylar’s breathing was back to normal, he was breathing fine and was very curious about most if the things he saw in his vision.

“I’ll call you back in when something else happens” Damien said.

“When something else happen? What is going to happen?” Skylar said concerned as he wanted to understand what they meant by that.

“These seizures will happen again, your mind is just resting now” the physician replied before he exited the room.

“Why does she call you Regaleon?” Skylar said to his father as that was one of the things he was curious about and since he didn’t have much time before he went back he decided to ask smaller questions.

“Regaleon is a title I answered when I was young and vibrant, cutting down the werewolves into half and being considered the most feared Lord in all factions of all seven empires, those were the days I lived so recklessly now I realize why your mother didn’t want me to father her child” Damien said smiling in nostalgia.

“Well…” he said when his speech was cut short by the vigorous shaking of his whole body, he was going into a seizure once again.

You gave me your word Edward, you gave me your word to give me whatever I want if the power of the stones don’t work” Meredith said.

“No Meredith, you can’t tell me that didn’t work, you cannot tell me that” Edward said as he looked through the window of his throne room in a low voice as he didn’t want anyone to hear their conversation.

“Well, it didn’t work” Meredith said with a cold look on her face to show him that there was no negotiating with her but he moved to negotiate anyways.

“What if I get you the half of the stones power?” Edward said and Meredith paused for a while thinking about it carefully, she imagined how powerful Skylar would be if he had the power of all four stones.

“If it doesn’t work this time, you know what I’ll do” Meredith said.

“But I thought this was the end of …” Edward was talking when she cut him off.

“Nothing ends this until I get what I want” Meredith said, turned and walked away.

Edward was devastated and he needed to look for a way to make sure that he get those stones and he found the perfect plan. Edward convinced Meredith to make him sick with the common flu to make him convince the alphas that he was at the point of death.

Edward brought the matter to the council and they all kicked against it because they saw him as a selfish person, he went to the edge to force them to do it but still there was no good result.

Meredith grew impatient and when she asked Edward he couldn’t provide and reasonable explanation as to why he couldn’t get the stones for her so she made his sickness worsen, she made him very sick that he was unable to move around like every other person.

Edward announced his heir and when Meredith heard of it she was troubled and was prepared to do anything to make Skylar an alpha. She used a drug on Skylar which made him very hungry for blood, he wasn’t aware that he was a vampire until that night and he went on a killing spree thereby making himself almost a thousand soldiers of human hounds.

Few day later, Edward dies and Skylar returns home to take his self proclaimed place as Alpha, he sends assassins after Edgar and they succeeded in their mission. On the name day ceremony, he was proclaimed as alpha and king of the red stone pack. Meredith felt a rush of joy and peace full ehe heart when she saw him sit on the throne.

But her peace was short lived when she found out Edgar was still alive, she used her magic to put the idea into Hayley’s head to make Skylar bring her as a witch to help him perform the spell to make Edgar never change back to his human form.

Skylar and Edgar were not relations by blood so all she could do was make his wolf grow smaller and weaker as she bought time to find a way to end him completely, she was very much eager to find Edgar and in the process she found Elaine too and she tried to use her magic yo extort the great power Elaine exuded but she couldn’t.

Meredith sought deeper as to why Elaine was able to block her magic, so she searched more about her and found out that she was the chosen one by the gods since after Darius to help another war to come and the man she shall be consummated with, will be the greatest werewolf warrior to ever walk the surface of the earth.

She wanted to make sure that this girl marries Skylar because she wanted him to even be more powerful than he already was so she decided to track down Elaine. She tracked to a small human village just outside the borders of the White stone pack house and she told Skylar.

Skylar sent men after Elaine and wanted her to be brought to him at all cost, he sent them everywhere in the four lands and finally they found her in her aunts place in the white stone pack house.

They offered her aunt a deal to pay her if she gives Elaine up, Meredith put her under a spell to make sure she accepted and she did immediately. Elaine heard of it and before they could realize it, she was already on the run and the human hounds chased her down till she fell into the waterfall and was found by Edgar.

Skylar woke up again this time, in a less violent way.

“Meredith did all this for me?” Skylar said not able to believe it as he though that all his schemes worked out because of just how smart he was, he never knew that there was someone behind all of it.

“Meredith is the only person your mother had all her life, she was the only friend and family your mother could trust” Damien said.

“Edward killed my mother, I cannot believe that I lived with the man that murdered my mother, he acted so innocently and told me a whore bore me. He made me feel so little in front of himself and his perfect son, but now I know the truth, I am their better and I always will be” Skylar said with a smirk on his face.

“Yes son, you always will be” Damien replied as he held his arm firmly very delighted that finally has the chance to be with his son.
