Chapter 26: Chapter Twenty-Six

We walk down to the conference room that we had just eaten dinner with, I notice that there is still a little bit of nibble-food lining one side of the room as we walk into the room.

“Falencia!” I hear Addam call from behind me.

I turn towards his voice and notice that he is walking towards me. “Hey!”

“Wow, you look…” He trails off as he takes in my appearance from head to toe, his eyes wandering down from my face down and slightly lingers on my breasts and gulps slightly. “Absolutely beautiful.” He finishes.

I giggle and feel myself start to blush. “Thank you.”

“So, you’re ready to enjoy your night?” He asks putting his arm around my waist and pulling me closer to his side then whispered, “is everything alright?”

I nod to him “yeah, everything is fine, I just need to talk to our group for a few minutes.” I say as Fenirick, Berik, Thelma, and Drake come up to us.

“Alright, let’s all sit down at the table and chat for a minute.” Fenirick states as my uncle and cousin come up.

“Is everything alright?” Torsten asks.

I nod “everything is fine, I just want to talk to my group privately before I head out to the dance.

He smiles in understanding. “Is there something I should be aware of?”

I shake my head at him “No, but when there is, I’ll let you know.”

He smiles dejectedly and nods in understanding “alright.”

I close the door, shutting myself and my group behind the soundproof doors. “I got a note, it was slipped under my door.” I say as I take the note out of my clutch and show it to everyone. “it says something about there being traitors within your pack, I’m taking it that there are more than one, since that is what the note implies. I don’t know who it is, but I have a few theories.”

Fenirick and Addam look at me with worry evident on their faces. “Are you sure that we should be going through with going to prom? If there’s danger this close to home, maybe we should skip the dance and just start your training and road trip a little early?” Addam asks.

“Honestly, Cherie, Freyja, and I discussed this as well. We’ve decided that if we were to skip town so quickly would look suspicious and we could end up attracting unwanted attention to ourselves, so instead of acting rash and showing that we know that whoever is following us, looking for me, and thinks that they know who I am is actually who I am, that we know that they’re onto me or that I am in fact who they think I am. If that makes any sense at all.”

Berik nods, “It does, but honey, are you one hundred percent certain that this is the route that you want to take?”

I swallow the thick saliva that is sitting in my throat down and nod “yes, I am! I firmly believe that if we were to leave now, we would alert the people who are looking for me to my location and then it would be highly possible that I would end up in their clutches without any real possibility of learning what I need to learn and everything.”

“I don’t blame you for wanting to play it safe, but again, are you one hundred percent that this is the best option?” Nik asks.

I take a calming breath and let it out shakily “I don’t know for one hundred percent certainty that this is the best option and/or route to take, but in all honesty, I don’t know what the best option in this scenario is. I just feel like this is the right way to go.”

“We will honor your wishes and continue going through with this plan of yours, I just hope that we aren’t making a huge mistake and end up getting you hurt or worse.” Fenirick responds.

“How about this? Us kids go to the prom and have a wonderful time, you adults go ahead and start stocking up the RV’s with everything that we’ll need for our road trip, Berik can call the school tomorrow and explain everything and we can just have our diplomas emailed to us or sent somewhere. Once we come back from the dance, we’ll all go to our respective rooms and get ourselves ready to disappear into the night, that way everyone still gets to go to the dance and have a good time, but we can leave late enough to where no one is watching us.” I reply, taking a deep, centering breath.

“I really could use you as a strategist in my pack, you seem to have a knack for figuring out moves and scenarios.” Fenirick states smiling proudly.

I smile as we all start to stand up and move towards the door “Maybe I can be a consultant or something of that nature.”

He smiles at me and nods “I like that option.”

“Well, now that we have all these matters figured out, I think it’s time we head to the dance and have a wonderful night, what do you guys say?” Addam says.

“I like that idea, especially since it’ll be our last time seeing Falencia and everyone for who knows how long?” Nik says as he hugs Cherie from behind.

I smile at the new couple “Weren’t you informed?”

Nik looks at me confused “Informed, about what exactly?”

I smile at him “you and Cherie are coming with us. Berik already talked with your mom, she doesn’t know the real reason we’re leaving obviously, but she’s been made aware that you’re going on the road trip with me. Berik talked to her about it when we first started thinking about it, before the whole truth about me came out.”

Nik smiles wider and nods his head as he places a soft kiss upon Cherie’s head as we file out of the room. Coming face to face with Torsten and Ryker. “So, what’s the plan?” Ryker asks as we head out the front door.

“We’re heading to the dance now, again, if you want to accompany us, Ryker, you’re more than welcome to come.” I tell him, trying to see if my gut has anything to give me on whether I should or shouldn’t trust my newfound family, but unfortunately it’s being as quiet as a mouse and decide that I’ll just have to figure it out on my own.

“I know you don’t know us and you don’t know whether or not you can truly trust us, but I hope that in time, we can prove that you can.” Torsten says.
