Chapter 244

Jaselyn's POV

"Jas!" Rion's voice broke through the haze, and he rushed into the room, a tray of food in his hands. He saw the broken mirror and the fear on my face, and his expression turned to one of concern. "What happened? Are you okay?"

I crawled out of bed and ran into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably. "He's here, Rion. Zane's here. He won't leave me alone."

Rion wrapped his arms around me, holding me tight as he whispered soothing words in my ear. "It's okay, Jas. He's not here. He's gone. I'll prove it to you." He gently released me, moving around the room, opening closets and checking behind furniture, showing me there was no one else there. "See? He's not here. It's just us."

I took a shaky breath, trying to calm myself as I watched him. His presence, his voice, it all helped to chase away the fear. "He's dead," Rion reminded me softly, coming back to my side. "You killed him. He can't hurt you anymore."

I nodded, my body slowly relaxing as the reality of his words sank in. "Please don't leave me again, Rion," I whispered, my voice trembling. "I'm scared."

He pulled me into his arms, holding me close as he wiped away my tears. "I promise I won't leave you alone again," he said, his voice filled with determination. "I'll protect you from everything, Jas. Always."

He kissed my forehead, his lips lingering there for a moment before he pulled back, picking up the tray of food he had brought in. "Let's get you something to eat, okay?" he said gently, guiding me back to the bed.

As I sat down, he carefully fed me, his touch tender and loving. After eating as much as I could handle, he had me lay on the bed and he patted my hair. His voice was soft as he hummed a soothing melody, lulling me into a sense of calm. Slowly, my eyes grew heavy, the exhaustion of the past few days catching up to me. Before I knew it, my eyelids closed and everything went dark…..

Rion’s POV

I watched as Jaselyn finally drifted off to sleep, her breathing evening out, her face relaxing as she found some measure of peace. But my heart was heavy, the weight of her pain pressing down on me like a physical force. I brushed a strand of hair from her face, my hand trembling as I fought back the tears that threatened to spill over.

Seeing her like this, so broken and fragile, tore me apart. It was like a knife twisting in my gut, a pain that I couldn’t escape. I had failed her. I had let that monster get to her, hurt her in ways I couldn’t even begin to imagine. And now she was suffering because of it, haunted by the ghosts of what he had done.

I cursed Zane’s soul to burn in hell, wishing I could bring him back just to kill him again, to make him pay for every tear Jaselyn had shed, for every moment of pain she had endured. He deserved nothing less than eternal torment for what he had done to her.

But wishing wouldn’t change anything. Zane was gone, and Jaselyn was still here, still hurting. I had to focus on her, on helping her heal, on getting Celio back from Isla and making sure that witch paid for her part in all this. I had to be strong for Jaselyn, to be the support she needed to get through this.

After making sure she was deeply asleep, I carefully slipped out of the room and quietly closed the door behind me. I leaned against the wall in the hallway, my mind racing with everything that had happened. I needed to do something to help Jaselyn, to make her feel safe again. But I wasn’t sure where to start.

I took a deep breath and pulled out my phone, dialing the number for the doctor who had been treating Jaselyn. I needed answers, needed to know how to help her. The phone rang a few times before she answered, her voice calm and professional.

“Alpha Rion,” she greeted, “how can I help you?”

“Doctor, it’s about Jaselyn,” I said, struggling to keep my voice steady. I told her everything, from Jaselyn's kidnapping to how I found her.

“She’s… she’s not doing well. She keeps seeing Zane, even though he’s dead. She thinks he’s still here, that he won’t leave her alone.” I confessed, my voice breaking.

I love her so damn much and this is really hard to bear, it's so difficult to hold it together. I wonder how she must be coping.

There was a pause on the other end of the line, and I could hear the doctor’s concern. “Alpha, it sounds like she’s suffering from severe trauma and PTSD,” she said gently. “The things she’s been through, they’ve left deep scars on her psyche. These hallucinations, they’re a symptom of that. Her mind is trying to process what happened, and it’s causing her to see things that aren’t there.”

My heart sank at her words. I hated seeing Jaselyn like this, so broken and afraid. “What can we do to help her?” I asked, desperation creeping into my voice. “I can’t stand seeing her like this. She needs to feel safe again. Is there anything we can do?”

The doctor hesitated before speaking again, her tone cautious. “Therapy would be the best option, Alpha,” she said. “It would help her process what happened, but it will take time. There’s no quick fix for trauma like this. It’s a long road to recovery, and she’ll need all the support she can get.”

I closed my eyes, feeling a wave of frustration wash over me. I wanted to help Jaselyn now, to make the pain go away, but I knew the doctor was right. Healing would take time, and there were no shortcuts. Still, I couldn’t shake the feeling that there had to be something more we could do.

“Isn’t there anything else?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper. “Something that could help her feel better, even if just for a little while?”

The doctor was silent for a moment, and I could sense her reluctance. “There is one option, but it’s not a permanent solution,” she said carefully. “We could use hypnosis to make her forget the kidnapping incident, at least temporarily. It would give her some relief from the memories, but it’s not without risks. The memories would eventually come back, and they could be even more frightening when they do because they’d be scrambled. We also can’t guarantee that she won't forget other important things. It’s a very risky procedure, Alpha.”

I felt my stomach twist at the thought. The idea of making Jaselyn forget what happened, even for a little while, was tempting. She deserved a break from the pain, from the fear. But the risks… I couldn’t put her through that, not without being sure it was the right thing to do.

“It seems you have another difficult decision to make, Rion.” Diete began, stirring within me. “Will you let logic or emotions rule? What will

it be: hypnosis or therapy?”
