Chapter 55 CHAPTER 55

Chapter 55 CHAPTER 55
LYRA ANDREA SILVERTONGUE
“Lyra!”
Camile yells at me, seconds before consciousness snaps into my mind. My eyes are steady on her blue ones, and yet, there’s a blur in the spaces between me and her. Like my mind keeps going back to the open fields where I was getting slashed by that brown eye’s boy.
“Are you alright? You’ve been staring at the podium for a very long time, and would not respond to your name,” Camile says, but I ignore her and snap my head backwards.
I can see his brown eyes staring into my green ones as blood drips down his nostrils. There’s a slight smile stretching across his face, like he enjoyed every moment that had led up to this moment.
“That’s Walker,” Camile mutters.
“A Were-siren,” I complete the sentence for her. “One of the Dothar, no doubt.”
Her eyes widens as she shifts her gaze the boy behind us, and then back to my green eyes.
“It all makes sense, now,” she whispers. “He must have pulled you in when he called your name.”
I nod my head and turn my neck to a side, just to see a girl with purple eyes staring at me. And if eyes are swords, then hers will have strike me down by now.
I’m about to tap on Camile’s shoulders when a particular scent wraps around my nostrils. The light reflects on her pale skin, and heightens the color on the flesh.
Clarisse.
“Can we talk?” She mutters, and a growl rumbles Camile’s chest. “It’s important, Lyra.”
“No, Clarisse,” I retort. “You and Emily were preparing me as a lamb for slaughter. I don’t think I want to talk to you.”
Clarisse is about to respond when Head mistress Edwina says something that has the entire dining hall facing me.
“The names of the representatives for this year’s competition are;
The Alpha Brothers.
Duncan.
Adam.
And Lyra Sunstone.”
“Wait, what?”
Camile retorts, and Grimhowl erupts.
“How does a wolf-less girl help us in this tournament?” Someone raises her voice, and for the first time in my life, I agree with her.
“She might not have a wolf-spirit,” Professor Edwina, responds. “But she has the stamina, and Charisma for one. After all, she did draw blood from Kyle Silverback in the Arena during training hours.”
The hall goes into a frenzy, and my eyes and ears cannot believe the words pouring out of the headmistress’s mouth.
“That’s not good, Lyra,” Clarisse responds, and she doesn’t even need say it in the first place.
“That’s very bad,” Camile retorts, and the light flashes from my eyes.
I shut my eyes and open them again, hoping this reality will blend into something else. But the second those eyes give way; everything remains the same.
“I had underestimated you,” a voice echoes behind me, and it’s none other than the Were-siren. Before I can turn, he’s standing beside me. “You’ll surpass your sister, Lyra. Gives us a chance.”
He puts his palm on the table before me, and the moment he lifts his hand, there’s a card on it with the face of three distinct wolf.
“There’s a location at the back of the card. Be there at twelve.”
The moment he takes off, Kyle and the others walk up to me.
“Did you do this?” Kyle’s voice rips the roof off my head, and I knot my brows at him.
“You think I want to be involved in one of your stupid games?” I retort, and watch the tight muscle of his face relax like he just remembered something he shouldn’t have.
“Don’t worry, we’ll be gentle with her,” someone from the Lycanschool retorts, and I see their eyes bleed into red. “We’ll take good care of her for you.”
There’s a sinister smile on his face, and something tells me it’s not because he actually knows who I am. Kyle’s chest rumbles, and the that tells me all I need to know.

ECHO XANDER SILVERBACK
It doesn’t take long for me to knock some sense into Zayn’s head when my fist connects with his jaw. But surprisingly, Zayn doesn’t fight back. He only winks at Lyra, and takes his boys away with him.
We all turn to Lyra, and she knots her brows at us.
“This isn’t the time to treat me like I’m your little princess,” she retorts, and goddess, something about the way she calls herself a little princess makes the muscles between my thighs to go hard. “I can take care of myself.”
The heart rate of my brothers tells me I’m not the only one going crazy for this wolf-less Omega. And moreover, we all want to protect her badly than she knows.
It’s a bit ironical to realize that a less than a year ago, we were quite certain she wouldn’t survive the first month in this Academy, only for her to go toe-to-toe with Kyle and hold her own, even though my brother was holding back for reasons that are now obvious.
“We’ll meet with the headmistress and get this matter sorted out,” Kyle mutters, and her green eyes has never been fiercer, and burning with fury at the moment.
“You’ll do no such thing, Kyle,” her voice erupts over in my eardrums, and the weight of it pulls me closer, like something within her as gotten more powerful. Maybe, that’s because she is the Elder one, even though Kyle doesn’t believe in it.
“The game is no place for a woman, Lyra,” I respond, trying to come to terms with the wolf-less Omega, only for her to shift her eyes to me, and goddess, those green golden colors can make me get on my knees, just to be acquainted with the taste of her lips, once more.
“That is not for you to decide,” she responds, and I hear Dom’s growls reverberating within his chest.
“Don’t be a stubborn wildflower, Lyra,” Dom utters, and the look on her face is enough to deliver the message across.
“I’ll contest in the games,” she responds, staring at Dom right in the eyes. “And I’m not your wildflower.”
The only person to not utter a single word ever since we walked into this dining room is Lucain. And that’s because he is yet to tell who he came to know who she truly is before the rest of us could come up with such knowledge.
“You don’t understand, Lyra,” Emily jumps in. “This competition is purely brutal. Trust me, there’s nothing beneficial from dying with these beasts out there in the battle fields.”
Emily and Clarisse try to sway her from taking up a representative role in the competition, but when I return my gaze on the green-eyes girl, the tight spaces of her face give me the answer I already know within me.
It’s like she has sign a death note with hades himself, and isn’t going back on her words.
“The Academy chose me to represent, and I won’t back down from it,” she retorts, and that’s how I know she had already made up her mind.
“We hear you, Lyra,” Kyle responds, “You are welcome to participate if that is what you want.”
There’re a thousand things wrong with what he has just said, but the thing that shifts my attention completely, and have me second guessing my won play in all this is the sound of his voice.
“What in the seven is that?”
