Chapter 51: CHAPTER 51

LYRA ANDREA SILVERTONGUE

Running and screaming vampire isn’t something I would have put on my bingo card for the year. I’ve heard stories of girls from this Academy ending up dead with two large, and long puncture mark on the side of their necks.

It never comes across my thoughts that it will be my Professor for Dark Arts putting girls under such predicaments.

The slashes on my arms and legs as I speed through the thick forest feels like tiny knifes are being used to dissect my skin bits by bits. The cold doesn’t help either, and I feel my skin getting numb by the seconds.

Making it into the open fields feels like an achievement, and never do I once stop turn and see if someone, or probably him is after me. But the minute I snap my neck backwards; I come colliding with something in front of me.

Someone, instead.

Dense muscles covered in blood and red eyes that feels like they are gradually losing its warmth and fire. The both of us takes to the ground, but when I concentrate my gaze on him, the sharp edges of his jaws makes mine drop to the ground.

“Echo?”

Before I can say another word, Echo’s jaws wrap against mine as he claims my lips with his tongue. The sudden attack on my lips, sends jolts of electricity flying through me, and leaves me gasping for air that refuses to come.

His lips taste like salt and iron, and that’s because of the blood in his mouth.

“Lyra?”

His voice is soft and weak, as opposed to the harsh growls him and his brothers make. But nothing beats the hard pounding of my chest against my ribcage.

Seeing him has my pulse pacing within my veins. It feels like a long-lost part of me has suddenly been restored, and I’ve been made whole again.

“Lyra?”

A voice calls out a distance ahead of us, and the familiar sound of it has me getting off the ground. I lift my eyes to see three naked men standing in front of me, their body soaked in blood as the silver moonlight dance around their exposed skin.

The hard line of their muscles that has the cold atmosphere shifting to a burning surface and firing down their skin. But when my eyes drop lower, goddess, I almost forget how to breathe.

And to think they aren’t even hard, yet, the unmistakable size of their cocks is enough to split me into half.

“What are you doing beyond curfew?” Kyle asks, as Dom and Lucian take Echo off the ground.

A swallow slides in my throat because I know there’s a punishment for staying beyond the normal hours. But the look on the boys tells me they aren’t about to rat me out to some bunch of school authorities. That’s when my mind takes me back to the real reason I had bumped in Echo in the first place.

I turn back to see if I might catch a glimpse of Professor Damien, but the shadows in the darkness appears as if they had been there right from the beginning of time.

Dom tilts his head at me like he’s trying to understand the unspoken words coming out of my mouth. That’s when it occurs to me that I need to give them a reply.

“Professor Damien… He’s something else,” I respond to Kyle’s question, but it only knots his brows, further. Lucian has taken Echo to a direction that looks like its heading to their dens, but the way Echo’s lips wrapped against mine is the only thing filling my thoughts at the moment.

“What happened to Damien?” Dom retorts, and I close my eyes, allowing myself a lungful of cloying air before responding to that question.

“He’s a vampire,” I mutter, pointing my finger to the woods from where I was coming. “I saw him sucking the blood out of a girl.”

Kyle turns to Dom, and then back to me.

The way his eyes dances at me from head to toe, tells me the level of craziness he believes I’m going through at the moment.

“Damien is a wolf, Lyra,” Kyle utters. “Unlike you, he has a wolf spirit, and everyone with one can sense it. Smell it.”

Ouchh.

Talk of rubbing salt on injury.

“I know what I saw, Kyle,” I fire back. “That girl may be dead for all we know.”

Kyle lets a rumble leaves his chest so I know he’s done with the games. He takes a step closer, and goddess, the frame of him and his height eats up the light from the moon in front of me. But what my eyes falls on is the length dangling between his legs.

“Go to bed, Lyra,” he murmurs, and I have never felt like running my fist across his face.

He leans and breathes in the air around me, like he’s savoring the surrounding scent, right before walking past me, down the lane Lucian and Echo took earlier ago.

Dom follows suit, but before he walks pass me, his right-hand brushes against mine, and the spark that runs down my spine is enough to light the bulb in my dormitory.

The Alphas takes their warmth with them, and as soon as they leave, the cold winds fire back heavily on me. taking one more look around the vicinity is enough to tell me the four corners of my dormitory is the safest I can be at the minute.

The walk back to my den isn’t a quiet one, but the voices within my thoughts are loud enough to make someone a few feet behind me feel as if there’s another walking beside me.

One thing I acknowledge with the Alpha guardians is that if professor Damien does not have a wolf spirit, they would have figured out that by now. But the vivid memory of what I saw in the woods, makes me argue with the truth in their statement.

Unless, he is somehow a wolf, and a vampire.

“A chimera.”

A voice echoes within my subconscious, and it pauses my feet at the front of my dormitory.

A feeling claws at the back of my neck as if someone, or something is watching me, but when I turn, the hallway is empty without a single soul in sight.

Yet, the feeling is like when I was in that basement with Jade’s clone, but a bit more intense and different from what I had felt.

I raise my hand to know on the door, but it opens before I get the chance to. The first person I see behind them has my brows knotting together, as an unwelcomed heat washes beneath the fabric of my skin.

Adam.

ECHO XANDER SILVERBACK

The air is different from the ones down at the goddess forsaken place. This air smells like freedom, and the greens tells me one thing; I’m back at the Academy.

But even the air here doesn’t take long before it shifts into something else.

Something alluring. Like chocolate draped in strawberry juice.

Something that reminds me of… her.

I can hear a heartbeat pounding heavily in my eardrums as it beats against its own ribcages. I can hear footsteps picking up the pace, and it boldly approaches the direction in which I’m standing.

Before I can fully turn to receive the incoming passenger, she slams heavily into me, and the impact collides with my broken body and bones, and sends both of us crashing to the ground.

The second my eyes come in contact with those emerald eyes, I crash my lips directly into hers before my mind can register the action my body is undergoing.

Goddess, her lips taste like everything I have ever imagined and dreamt off. The feeling of her cold skin beneath the palm of my hands makes me want to wraps her around my arms till the freezing touch of her flesh disappears, leaving only the warmth between us.

She pulls back, and I can see the dazzling light glimmering from her eyes. Her slightly parted jaws that keeps begging for the corners of my tongue.

“Lyra.”

I cannot believe the sound of my own voice as her name pools out of my lungs. It’s soft as a sheep’s wool, and it’s sink into me like woven silk.

“Lyra?”

Another voice calls out her name, as the harsh sound of it tells me who that is.

It’s none other than Kyle.

But the minute her name leaves his throat, a sudden darkness creeps into the corners of my sight, and the last thing I see is the pale skin of her face as the moonlight lowers its light on her, right before the darkness swallows me whole, and everything becomes black.

“Echo?”

A voice reverberates in my subconscious as I try to make of the sound of it.

The person calls again, and this time around, the voice is more saturated than before. It doesn’t take me anything to know that is Lucian’s voice.

I try to open my eyes, but the light puncturing through the open spaces makes it difficult for me to see the face staring down at me.

“The bastard is awake,” Lucian thunders within the mind-link, and a slow smile stretches slightly across my face.

My eyelids open to vast light in the room, and I have to groan and murmur at the sudden brightness in it. I open my eyes, and there are different eye colors all staring at me like I had recently died and came back from the grave.

But the minute my memories of when I was in that dungeon comes pouring into my head, the bright atmosphere of the room changes its color instantly to a very dim blue.

Kyle is the first to break up the silence when he notices the sudden changes in my facial structures.

“What is it, Echo?” he asks, and I have to shut my eyes for a second.

“We were played, Kyle,” I retort, and the three of them stare at me in confusion as I struggle to sit erect on the bed.

I can feel my bones shifting, and trying to balance into each other. Feel my beast surging within to keep me from falling deeper into more life-threatening shits.

I lift my eyes to my brothers who are waiting with their cocks in their hands like it’s a do or die affair for them.

“What do you mean, played?” Dom retorts, and saliva rushes down my throat as I demand for a glass of water.

Lucian rushes and brings me a glass as I gulp its entire content in one go.

I take a lungful of air before facing them once more.

“We never did stop anything, guys,” I mutter and their brows knots in further confusion.

“How?” Lucian retorts.

A drag in another air and spread my jaws apart.

“Killing Jade didn’t stop anything,” I respond, and the silence that follows is loud enough to puncture my eardrums.

I shift my gaze to Kyle, and the way the muscles of his face is relaxed tells me he is unfazed by what is spilling out of my mouth. He must have sensed it coming.

He must have known.

The darkness is still coming. And we murdered an innocent girl.
