Chapter 22: A Wife's Thoughts

His wife wasn't as stupid as Eric wanted to pretend that she was, having smarts better than the both of them combined.

Sitting on the edge of the tub in the bathroom, Sierrah cleaned herself up from another bout of intimacy. Gnashing teeth at the thought of her husband and his persistent treatment of her these last months. Granted the terms of their marriage were rocky, more often than not they were yelling and screaming. Even during all the stress of their strained marriage, the sex still remained great. Most of the time anyways.

Just like him, she couldn't help thinking about the increased volume of sex the last couple of months. The level of intimacy lately resembled the beginning of their marriage. No, that wasn't entirely true either. If truth be told they had more sex now than they ever did in the beginning. When they first married they were lucky to have sex four or five times a week possibly, but now the two of them were having sex dozens times a week. Several times a day even. Hell, since last night alone it was four times.

The only other time that she'd ever seen him so hopped up was their wedding night, so horny he'd barely been able to wait for the honeymoon night. Of course, that was only after months of them making out and hopping them both up, as she was determined to go to her marriage bed a virgin. He'd been so eager to have her that once in the hotel he'd been like a madman as he practically ripped her clothes off and had fallen into bed. That night they'd had sex five times.

Sierah pursed her lips, so if months of teasing had gotten him that excited on their wedding night, what had compelled the drive in his lust now? Sierrah had a pretty good idea she knew exactly what was going on with him lately, as there could only be one reason for the rise in his sex drive. A woman. A woman who wasn't his wife. Sierrah had long since suspected her husband hadn't been entirely faithful to her, the drastic changes in him the last several months were proof.

In the beginning, it'd been subtle, always getting home later from work, supposed business meetings until the dead of night, the constant fighting and insults. Yes, it was most definitely safe to say that Eric had found another woman but judging by his reactions with her it hadn't become physical. At least they hadn't had sex. No doubt that stupid little homewrecker was holding out on him, probably attempting to drive the man too insane he'd do anything to have her. Haha. Bimbo, you have no idea who my husband is.

No matter his claims to the slag he was trying to woo, the second she didn't give him what he wanted he came right home and between his wife's supple thighs. The wife who gladly made love to him every time. His affair was something she'd been suspecting for months now, that was unintentionally confirmed when he came home with lipstick on his collar. Just because she knew it was happening didn't mean she had the proof.

Going out to stand beside the crib where her one-year-old twins slept, she tried to assure them she'd do anything for them, but could only take so much.

While clear across the city in New Castle, Paige slowly pushed up in bed, to find she was stretched out on the bed. A frown lifted the corners of her lip. She clearly remembered having fallen asleep on the couch, unable to get comfortable enough to sleep in the bed.

So how?

How had she gotten upstairs?

Her mind spun as she tried to dredge up memories from the night before, but couldn't formulate an answer. She couldn't remember waking up. Finally shrugging up she must've slept walked back to her room, Paige slowly bounded out of bed and moved to her bag. She changed into a pair of blue jean shorts and a v-necked top, to help combat the heat of the city.

Prepared for the day ahead, Paige slipped out her bedroom door silently and trotted down the staircase to the first floor. In the kitchen she reached for the frying pan from the cabinet, placing it down on the stovetop with a clatter. The pan was a parting gift from Amber, having given it to her when she left the house, at the discovery of no dishes. Paige then cooked the only thing that was inside the house this morning, thanks to a trip to the local market. Eggs.

Noah walked into the kitchen a couple of minutes later at saw he was putting two plates of eggs down on the table for breakfast. He scrunched up his nose as he glanced around the room, but neglected to notice what he was looking for. "No coffee?"

"Sorry," she grimaced, hating the thought she'd have to go without, having always dealt better when she started her day off right. "I didn't have time to run to the market this morning. It's obvious you didn't do much cooking here before I came along. I have some pans and kitchen utensils that came last night, but I forgot about a coffee machine and haven't been able to get groceries."

He waved aside her concern, "I completely understand. If you have the time use the card I gave you to purchase the stuff that we need. If you can't make the time then Saturday will be fine. We'll just make do until then."

The two of them sat down at the table to eat the breakfast she'd prepared this morning, neither seemed open to chatting. Noticing as Noah move the food around on his plate, Paige frowned. "I'm now realizing that I don't know a whole lot about you. Namely, what you like to eat."

He chuckled, a little embarrassed, "I've never been much of a fan of scrambled eggs, though I do love a good omelet."

She stood up. "I can make you an omelet."

Waving aside the suggestion she'd made right then, not wanting her to go through all the hassle, he took a bite of the scrambled eggs she'd made him. Noah bobbed his head, moaning, "Man that's actually pretty good."

She beamed. "Thank you."

Noah liked how her dimples deepened in the curve of her mouth when she smiled so big like that, seeing that smile made him feel warm and cozy on the inside. He suddenly jerked his gaze away from her, grunting, "You're welcome."

When the both of them had managed to finish their morning meal, Noah rushed to finish getting ready for work, while she cleaned the dishes. By the time she had finished cleaning up from breakfast he descended down the stairs, then together the two of them made their way outside. Her eyes zeroed in on the Rolls Royce that was parked out in front of the gates, it identical to the one she'd seen on the first morning.

Shrugging it off, she focused on him. “Will you be home for dinner?”

Scrunching up his face as he thought about his plans for the day, not remembering having anything planned for the night, he bobbed. “I should be.”

“Okay, I'll see him after work.”

Then the two of them climbed into their receptive vehicles, then went their separate ways as they headed off to work for the day. Upon her arrival to Magicka it was to discover Amber fast at work ringing up the customers in the store, so she headed to the table to the side. Given that no one else seemed to be in the store Paige set out all of her supplies, getting to work on some designs that she'd wanted to make.
