Chapter 267: Chapter no 97

“No, no, no,”

Shaking her head when blood flowed and he threw up more blood due to his body ceasing function gradually.

“Sir…? No, no,”

The outcome to the dangerous and sinful life he led sank in and there was no escape from the inescapable outcome that had chosen him as its prey.

He mouthed, connecting his eyes intensely with his lover, “I love you,” And fell on his knees.

“NO!!” Gasping, she ran to him, gripping onto him firmly.

Tears filled her eyes, clutching onto him with all her might as the sobbing of indescribable despair left.

“Mark! Gracie! Please do something!”

“Ye- yes,”

“Fuck, there was only one good rival and that asshole shot him,” Sebastian snarled.

Glancing at the change in the air as everyone gathered around their boss.

“Is- is he going to be okay?”

Zariah cried painfully, rubbing his hands, kissing them followed by salty tears that rolled down.

Cursing her fate that collided their worlds once and stole it cruelly from her.

“So.. this is it.. Huh?”

“Shut up! No, it’s not!” She yelled.

Holding him with her remaining energy, mind barely in its sense as his blood coated her clothes.

The sound of her wails echoing in the warehouse, chest constricted, senses blurred, vision lost.

His state implanted a traumatizing memory into her core, the one she might never be able to eradicate till the end of her breaths.

“Can I at least have a… dying wish?” Nathaniel growled in pain.

Tracing his hand on Zariah’s face, ignoring the futile attempts Mark was making to save him he whispered weakly.

“Spare Zariah… and Cinzel’s family… don’t hurt them anymore,”

“Tsk, there is nothing left anyways,” Sebastian scoffed.

“Shit, shit, no, no, no,”

“Mark, please, do something, please,” Zariah begged, holding Nathaniel’s face, removing hair from it, breathless, devastated, not caring about anything.

“I am trying! Nothing is working!”

“Nathaniel, you can’t die! What am I supposed to tell Cinzel?!” Prince panicked, holding his other hand with tears filling his eyes as well.

He forced a fragile smile, sparing a glance at Prince. He knew Cinzel’s marriage with him was the most relieving thing.

“She… has you…”

“Sir, please, you said you wanted me to move on! You have to be here to witness it!” He laughed weakly, blood trailing down from the corner.

He knew Elton will manage himself somehow except for a certain black-eyed girl.

Unfortunately, for his beloved who had none and was weeping endlessly, resting her forehead against him when nothing was working.

“Nathaniel, please, don’t leave me. Who am I without you? I live by your name, my love, you can’t leave me, please,”

“Zari…”

“Nathaniel,”

“I… have lived a horrible… miserable.. Life… the only good in it… was falling for you… you are my first… last… and only love,”

The second his lips pursued the faintest resonance, holding his hands out, surrendering openly they shot him.

The bullets might be released from the gun to end Nathaniel but the one who found her soul leaving her body was Zariah.

“NATHANIEL!!”

Horrified, she ran mindlessly, holding Nathaniel in his arms before he could fall on the ground.

Her hands embraced him like a home he urged to return for eternity.

Breaking into an unendurable sobbing, she fell to her knees, her fingers twirled around his bloody body agonizingly.

Everything was perishing in one moment, she was losing her cognition. One moment it took for the gloom to consume her.

“No, no, no, please don’t leave me…”

Begging, tears rolled down without any intention of stopping, holding onto her beloved.

Breaths unstable, shaking ferociously by the blood gathering around her.

“Nathaniel, please, please, you are all I have, you can’t leave me, I beg you, stay, stay, stay,”

“This is it,”

The final enunciation was made.

That was truly it.

The plan they intended to carry out when he faked his execution but his power was unshakable back then and the second they found him weakened.

They use this chance and-

“The era of the Plague Doctor ends todays,”

Sebastian announced harshly, putting his gun back, retreating with Zaviyaar and Asad.

“SHUT UP!! IT’S NOT!!”

But, he held her wrist, shaking his head in denial.

He couldn’t waste the scant heartbeats left in violence or resentment. All she desired was her proximity that stiff her.

“Nathaniel… please, please, don’t leave me,”

Narrowing her eyes, shaking violently when his pool of blood gathered in her dress as the realization of his fleeting moments sank in.

She liberated the unstoppable scream, etching her incomplete love in the skylines.

“NOO!!”

Before his eyes could close, he remembered every moment he shared with Zariah…

Her smile.

Her laugh.

Her breakdowns.

Her love.

Her wrath.

Her, in, every, way.

All on his hazy mind was his Zariah who clutched onto him agonizingly, liberating the deafening screams of her life.

Ache restricting her voice but unshackling her grief, she sobbed miserably, her soul overwhelmed with sorrow, cursing the fate that stole him away.

“NO, NATHANIEL!!”

His lips curled upwards, bringing his blood hand to intertwine fingers, failing to release a merest resonance.

Still mesmerized at her one glimpse, thinking sincerely-

‘I fell in love, madly, passionately, desperately, endlessly and it was the only feeling that kept me alive when I lost my family.

Although the one I fell in love with was dead inside, a robot, a hollow person yet she filled me.

Her existence gave me reasons to move forward, to live, for her, to save her, to love her, to marry, her, her, her, only her, existed for me to the point I became a blind worshiper.

So I did everything I possibly could for the one I adored more than my pathetic life…

I saved Zariah, gave her a new life, made her an ace, gave her my companionship too, I gave her love, affection and now my legacy too…

I completed all her wishes… I did it, I was relieved, I had no regrets.

So, in the end, if my life is lost, in love, then what is sorrow?’

Carrying these thoughts and her images as his final moments, his eyes were affixed on the terribly sobbing woman, holding him desperately.

Accepting the cruel outcome of such a horrendous life.

His body eventually turned cold, eyes capturing her features as the last sight on his mind.

Cradled in the arms of his beloved, he found redemption in death, plenish with solace to know that-

By her name, he lived, and by her name, he took his last breaths.
