Chapter 525: Come to Uncle
"Here."
Milton Charlotte lifted his chin, "Right behind you."
I craned my head back and saw Andy not far away.
His tiny body, also strapped to a chair, twisted his little head to look over at me, "Mommy, I'm okay."
My eyes instantly warmed up.
It's this time of the day, and he's a child, and he's still comforting me in turn.
I looked at him from head to toe several times to make sure he was truly fine before I let out a slight sigh of relief and began to survey the environment.
It was in a place that resembled a rotten building, surrounded by so many similar houses, and outside, it was already dark.
Where we were, it wasn't the first floor, and all around, only one side had a concrete wall, the other three sides were completely unprotected.
Walking on the edge, you could fall off without looking.
Everywhere was dusty, with a few incandescent lights held by random wires.
As far as the eye could see, there were roughly seven or eight men guarding us.
Not at all the same number as when we were kidnapped.
Milton Charlotte should have left more than half of his men out on watch patrol.
This makes it just that much harder for Myron Baron and the others to get us out.
"Yorlien Green."
Milton Charlotte smiled evilly and raised an eyebrow, "Guess, will Myron Baron come to your rescue?"
I curbed my inner worry and gave him a faintly sidelong glance, "That depends on what you want."
"Don't pretend you don't know, it makes it less fun." He rested one hand on the back of his chair and looked askance.
"Want AI technology?"
That's what I seem to have heard him say before I passed out completely.
Milton Charlotte licked the back of his tongue and hooked up one side of his lips, "You're telling me that the technology he put his life on the line to keep would, now, be used to trade for your mother's and son's lives?"
"It would."
I spoke ambiguously.
If the AI technology was still in Myron Baron's hands, I was pretty sure that he would.
But I wouldn't tell Milton Charlotte that the AI tech was in Nathanael's hands and that Myron Baron didn't have it at all.
Milton Charlotte doesn't know about it anyway, so that way, Myron Baron can think of something else.
If Milton Charlotte knew that Myron Baron didn't have anything in his hands, then he could do anything.
Like death.
I can't take that gamble, much less with Andy.
Milton Charlotte nodded and raised her hand to look at the time, "I really let you guess, he should be almost here, at this moment."
"Young Master Milton, someone is here."
Milton Charlotte had just finished speaking when his men came up to report.
"How many people have come?"
"It's the same as what was said on the phone, only two people came, him and the president of ... the Lora Group."
At those words, I snapped.
Nathanael...
What he came for.
Milton Charlotte lit a cigarette, "Things are getting interesting, let them come up."
The henchman took the order and shouted downstairs, "Let them up."
In the gap between them coming up, Milton Charlotte swept a glance at me, her eyes became sinister, and asked towards a tattooed man who had been standing in the corner, "Is everything ready?"
"Don't worry young master, everything is ready."
The tattooed man had his hands behind his back and smiled with ambition, his head hanging slightly as he replied.
Prepared?
Prepare for what?
I didn't have time to think about it as Myron Baron and Nathanael walked up one after the other.
Myron Baron's face was grim, and when he saw that Andy and I were fine, he looked at Milton Charlotte with cold eyes, "I brought you what you asked for."
As the words left his mouth, he raised his hand, holding a file bag in his hand.
It's the same one I gave Nathanael when I went to Kashiwagoe Hotel.
"Stand still."
Milton Charlotte's hand shot out, pointing at the spot at the top of the stairs, defensively, "Just stand there, and don't take another step this way."
Myron Baron looked at him askance, the mood in his eyes obscure, his voice cold, "Stuff, you don't want it?"
"Of course I do."
Milton Charlotte pointed down at the tattooed man, "You go, bring the stuff."
"Milton Charlotte, your abacus is really loud, just like this, you want to take the stuff from my hands?" Myron Baron looked at him with a smirk, but his tone was cold and bone-chilling.
"What do you want?"
"Release the people, we only came with two people, and there's no way we can just take them away, the stuff will definitely be given to you."
Myron Baron negotiated with him methodically.
Only, he was nervous, and only I, could tell.
Milton Charlotte sneered, "Do you think I'm a stupid X? don't even want it."
"This thing, then."
Myron Baron raised the file pouch, "You don't want it either."
With that, he took out a lighter and made a gesture to light it.
"Myron Baron!" the moment the flame was about to touch the file pouch, Milton Charlotte abruptly stood up from her chair, "What are you doing? If you destroy the technology, I'll have the mother and son buried with it!"
Myron Baron turned off the lighter, his brows slightly knitted, his voice slow and deep, "How can I believe that you will release my wife and child if I give you the technology if you don't show some sincerity?"
"I release."
Milton Charlotte spoke in compromise, his eyes scanning back and forth between Andy and I, "But only one person can be released first, wife, child, you choose."
I glanced at Andy and tilted my head towards Myron Baron, the moment my eyes met, agreement was reached.
Myron Baron spoke in a hushed voice, "The baby."
I breathed a sigh of relief.
"Mom!"
The ropes are untied from Andy's body, but he won't do it, running over to me and hugging my legs.
Myron Baron beckoned to him, "Andy come here ..."
"No way."
Milton Charlotte backtracks again midway through and looks to Myron Baron, "Kid go over, you hand, deliver the information."
"Okay."
Myron Baron didn't hesitate.
Andy more and more reluctant, "I don't want, I want to be with mom and dad ..."
"Andy, come to uncle."
Nathanael spoke in a warm voice, coaxing him.
He was still wearing the same suit from the afternoon, a light color, and I've always felt that light colors suited him well.
It set off his warmth and kindness even more.
Just like the impression he has left in my mind over the years.
Andy hadn't been too close to him since that time in Ocean City earlier, so naturally he wasn't going now.
Nathanael is not annoyed, his tone is more and more patient, "Before uncle came over, he saw Isabelle, she is waiting for you in the car right now, crying very hard, don't you want to go and coax your sister?"
"I ..."
"Baby, go to your uncle, mommy and daddy will be fine."
I didn't want to hold him up any longer, lest, once again, Milton Charlotte backtrack.
Myron Baron, controlling his tight emotions, smiled gently, as a way to make Andy think, it's no big deal, and then, purposely asked, "Andy, are you scared?"
"Not at all!"
"Then come to Uncle Nathanael, and Daddy will take you and Mommy home by giving them this."
Myron Baron's agitation worked better for him.
Moreover, Myron Baron was a superman-like being in his heart, and he tilted his little head when he heard Myron Baron say that and asked, "Really?"
"Really."
Myron Baron gave him a definite answer, and he completely compromised, hanging his little head, "Alright then, Andy doesn't give mom and dad any trouble."
