Chapter 521: What You Wish to Hear Me Say
Seeing that the man was still unsure, I simply changed the subject, "What did Yale mean by what he said at night?"
"What words?"
"What he and Nathanael said, how Nathanael utilized ... something in the first place, I heard the feeling, as if it has something to do with me?"
Myron Baron sniffed, his eyes paused for a moment and rubbed my head, "Nothing of the sort, go to sleep."
I heard him say that and didn't think much of it.
After finding a hair dryer to help him dry his hair, I went to bed with him.
This night, he slept uneasily, and circled me in his arms the whole night, as if he was afraid I would leave in the middle of the night.
The next day, in the afternoon.
I was dressed in a simple and generous outfit, ready to go out.
"Mom!"
Andy popped off the couch and ran towards me, "Where are you going?"
"Mommy's going to ..."
"Mommy's going to dinner with Uncle Nathanael!"
Andy looked at me with grumbling little eyes and interrupted, "Why are you going to dinner with him?"
Needless to say, he must have secretly heard us in the backyard last night.
I don't know who he's like, he's been sensitive and witty since he was a kid.
Being asked by him like this, I was a bit at a loss as to how to explain to him, and could only squat down and coax him nicely, "Uncle is going abroad, so mommy is going to go and meet him, and will be back after that."
"Then I'm going too!"
He looked like an overseer.
I was helpless, "Andy, no, mommy will be back soon."
While I was convinced that Nathanael was simply calling me for a meal, I never felt comfortable taking Andy with me.
Andy, however, refused to do so, and jumped headfirst into my arms, hugging my neck and not letting go, "Andy's going to go, he's going to go, mommy can't have dinner with Uncle Nathanael alone!"
"Uncle Jerome will be there too ..."
"Liar, it's not like Uncle Jerome is going to eat with you guys."
He was clever, though.
Jerome's main purpose was to keep me safe.
I had a bit of a headache and didn't know what to do when there was a sudden darkness to my side, it was Myron Baron coming down from the den, followed by Yale and Johnathan.
"Sister-in-law, bring a baby, Nathanael shouldn't say anything." Yale said lazily.
"That's not what I'm worried about."
"Security, you don't have to worry about that either, we have Jerome on the road, and we'll bring someone to follow in secret. And Kashiwagoe Hotel, it's our turf, Nathanael can't mess it up."
Johnathan also spoke up.
Obviously, they had made full preparations and deployed over at Kashiwagoe Hotel.
However, I still didn't want to take Andy at risk, even if it was one in a million.
Picked Andy up and said to him with a stern face, "Andy, be obedient, this time mommy can't follow your temper."
"Mommy, take me with you, okay?"
Andy saw that the trick was useless, and then changed to pampering.
I almost soften, Myron Baron put his hand over, and directly fished Andy out of my arms, "Mommy is going to do something very important, you follow daddy, we will follow mommy at the back."
"I ... okay."
Andy is the most terrified of Myron Baron talking to him in one board, immediately softly lying on Myron Baron's shoulder, muttering in a small voice, "Just follow, it's okay to be able to follow."
I couldn't help but lose my smile as I looked at his small appearance.
In Myron Baron's demeanor, he also lost the worry from last night, and handed me a file bag, his eyes gentle, "Go, I'll always be at the back, don't be afraid."
"Good."
Seeing his appearance, I became more and more at ease.
He did all this without mentioning a single word to me last night.
He's always like this, while I'm still worried, he's already removed all possible obstacles.
Before I got into the car, afraid he'd think too much about it, I turned and hugged him through Andy, "Myron Baron, I'll be down as soon as I get the antidote."
With that, he turned and got into the car.
Jerome started the car and drove off, while the other two black sedans, followed along.
Only, the distance kept was not close enough to conceal them, and I could not see them sometimes when I sat in the car and looked back.
However, knowing that he was behind me was incredibly reassuring.
When we arrived at Kashiwagoe Hotel, as soon as we entered, we could feel the security tighter than usual.
Jerome whispered to me that all the security guards had been replaced by his brothers.
In other words, Kashiwagoe Hotel is now under their control.
No wonder Myron Baron was relieved.
The two of us went upstairs together and the waiter led us into the private room Nathanael had booked.
Nathanael had already arrived, and he seemed to have been up all night, looking tired and drained.
He got up, his eyes swept over and landed on Jerome, "It was hard for you to wait outside."
Jerome was about to decline when I scanned the layout of the booth and passed him a look.
"Okay, sis-in-law, I'll be right at the door, so feel free to call me if you need anything."
He said this, ostensibly to me, but in reality, it was a hint to Nathanael not to mess around.
Nathanael, full of unconcern, led me into the private room and sat down at a long table, facing each other.
The private room in the western restaurant was very different from the Chinese restaurant, it was a semi-open-air room.
It had just rained in the morning, dispersing some of the dry heat, and the cold air from the air conditioner dispersed out, the temperature was suitable.
However, the atmosphere was a bit treacherous.
I didn't want to delay, I took out the file bag that Myron Baron handed me, put it on the desktop, and pushed it over to his side, "The technology you want is in here, where's the antidote?"
Frustration surfaced in his eyes when he saw me open up like that, but he handed me the antidote anyway, "Do the math, take it in three days."
"Okay."
I took the antidote and already wanted to leave.
He seemed to see it as well, loosening his tie and slowly leaning back into his chair, tilting his head back, and moments later, there was water sliding down his cheeks.
"Yorlien, I'm sorry."
After a long time, he spoke, his voice muffled and shaky.
I unconsciously squeezed my palms, the small box containing the antidote choking my hand, "Is it okay that you wish to hear what I have to say?"
How could it be okay.
He almost took Myron Baron's life, almost kept Myron Baron and I apart forever ...
I couldn't do it and just let it go.
I didn't want to, obviously, hold a grudge, but lie to him and say that it was okay.
After all, he had been good to me, and it had been real.
When I saw that he didn't speak, I pursed my lips and thoughtfully continued to speak, "Yesterday, the purpose of you going to The Baron family's old mansion, shouldn't be the intention of directly exchanging technology, am I right?"
His teeth clenched violently, the frustration on his face increased, he wiped his face haphazardly, and looked at me with scarlet eyes, "Yes, I wanted to take you, I know very well that you would never agree to it if you knew that Myron Baron was going to try the drug on his own."
"Then you ..."
"But I didn't realize that you wanted to try the drug on your own body!"
His voice was high, but, there was no anger, there was only helplessness and shock, "You'd rather give up your own body than think about separating from him ..."
He let out a long sigh, like a turbid gas that had been pressed in his heart for a long time, and exhaled it at this moment, closed his eyes, and continued, "From the time you said you wanted to test the medicine on your body, it was clear to me that it was useless to do anything on my own."
