Chapter 195 The End of Viktor
Chapter 195 The End of Viktor
Viktor's eyes burned with fury.
For several seconds, he simply stared at Don Russo.
He couldn't believe what had just happened.
After everything they had planned.
After everything they had sacrificed.
After entering the Russo estate together...
Don Russo had betrayed him.
Well, that wasn't totally a surprise to him.
The Russos are known to be betrayers.
Never to be trusted.
This was clearly on him.
"You..."
Viktor's voice trembled with rage.
"You betrayed me."
Don Russo stood his ground.
His chest rose and fell heavily.
"Our deal was over when you shot my daughter."
Viktor's hand suddenly moved toward his gun.
Don Russo's eyes widened.
"Viktor—"
BANG!
The gunshot exploded across the courtyard.
Don Russo jerked backward.
A look of disbelief crossed his face.
Then his hand flew to his abdomen.
Blood immediately began spreading across his shirt.
"Ah..."
His knees buckled.
He collapsed heavily onto the ground.
"Oh my god!"
Aurelia screamed.
Don Roman's expression changed instantly.
"Aurelia!"
She looked toward him.
"Go inside!"
"But—"
"NOW!"
The authority in his voice left no room for argument.
Aurelia immediately turned and ran toward the estate.
Nico dodged behind the car.
Don Roman's attention was already back on Viktor.
Viktor raised his gun again at Russo.
His face was twisted with rage.
"Now I have shot you!"
Don Roman's eyes immediately moved toward one of his guards.
He saw the man's weapon.
In one swift motion, Roman grabbed the gun from his hand.
Viktornoticing the movement, quickly turned to face him and raised his own.
BANG!
They both fired.
But Roman dodged his.
While Viktor was struck by Roman's bullet.
Viktor staggered backward.
His finger squeezed his trigger repeatedly.
Click.
Nothing.
His eyes widened.
He looked down at his gun.
Empty.
"No..."
He tried again.
Click.
Still nothing.
Then he looked up.
Dozens of Moretti guns were already pointed directly at him.
"Don't!"
Viktor shouted.
But it was too late.
The Moretti soldiers opened fire.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
A storm of bullets tore through the courtyard.
Viktor's body jerked violently.
He stumbled backward.
Blood spread across his clothing.
His weapon slipped from his fingers.
He tried to remain standing.
He couldn't.
His knees finally gave way.
Viktor crashed onto the ground.
Silence slowly returned.
Smoke drifted through the air.
The Moretti soldiers remained frozen, weapons still raised.
Don Roman lowered his gun.
He walked toward Viktor.
The once-powerful man who had dreamed of becoming the next Mafia King was now lying helplessly on the ground.
Barely breathing.
His eyes slowly opened.
He looked up at Don Roman.
For the first time, there was no arrogance in his expression.
Only disbelief.
This was a man he had worked with for so many years.
His right hand man, who had chosen to betray him instead.
Don Roman stopped beside him.
"You should have taken the deal."
Viktor's breathing was shallow.
Don Roman's voice remained cold.
"I gave you a chance to walk away."
He looked down at him.
"You could have left this city."
"You could have kept your life."
"But you wanted everything."
Viktor coughed.
Blood stained his lips.
Don Roman continued.
"You thought holding Aurelia made you powerful."
He shook his head.
"It only gave you another reason to die."
Viktor tried to speak.
Nothing came out.
Don Roman leaned slightly closer.
"You should have walked away when I gave you the chance."
Viktor's eyes slowly lost their focus.
His chest rose once.
Then again.
And then... nothing.
Viktor was dead.
The man who had believed he could take the Moretti empire had finally fallen.
The war was over.
At least for him.
Don Roman stared at his body for several seconds before turning away.
Then he heard a groan.
He immediately looked toward Don Russo.
The older man was still lying on the ground.
Blood continued to seep through his fingers as he desperately pressed his hand against his abdomen.
"Don..."
One of the guards rushed toward Don Roman.
"He's losing blood."
Don Roman's expression hardened.
"Get him inside."
Two guards immediately moved toward Don Russo.
They carefully lifted him from the ground.
Don Russo groaned in pain.
His eyes fluttered open.
"Bianca..."
His first thought was still his daughter.
Don Roman looked at him.
"Your daughter is fine, but you're not."
Don Russo's eyes closed briefly in relief.
"Take him to the physician."
"Yes, Don."
The guards carried Russo toward the estate.
Don Roman followed behind them.
His eyes briefly moved toward the doorway where Aurelia had disappeared.
His heart tightened.
She was finally back in his reach.
Safe and sound.
But after everything that had happened tonight, he knew they had much to talk about.
And there was one question he desperately needed answered.
Why had she left the safe house?
He had nearly lost her.
And now that the war was finally over...
Don Roman intended to find out exactly what had happened.
