Chapter 64: I'll Kill Him!

Aerila's POV

“Nyxion?” I exchanged glances with Vaelora in disbelief. What was he doing here?

Vaelora's eyes widened slightly, a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips. She stood up from the chair and gave us some space.

I stared at her in gratitude and focused my attention back on Nyxion. Did he get my message? Was that why he was here?

He moved closer, standing in front of me, my eyes never leaving his face.

I knew it…

He came over here to check up on me. He must have rushed here in panic because he couldn’t get through to me.

His hand lifted slowly, moving toward my face, and my lips stretched into a smile as relief washed over me.

He has finally come to his senses.

“Aerila.” His voice sounded dangerously low, and my mind stopped for a second. “What have you done?”

“Wh-” Before I could answer, his fingers grabbed my jaw tightly, and my face contorted in pain. “N-nyxion!”

“That’s not an answer, Aerila, and I am not letting you get away with it this time!” he thundered. My heart skipped, and I jolted.

“Guards!” he commanded, his voice vibrating inside the chamber.

The door was pushed open, and heavy footsteps marched inside.

“Search every corner of this place,” he ordered. His eyes fell on mine. “And find it.”

Find what?

“Understood, Alpha Nyxion!” they roared, and crashes sounded behind him.

I gripped the sheets tightly as fear crawled through me. One of them walked to the wardrobe and yanked the door open, throwing out my dresses.

“Nyxion, what’s going on? Why are you acting this way?” I tried to move, but his hold on my jaw tightened, and I remained paralyzed, afraid he might do the unthinkable.

What got him so mad like this?

I’ve never seen him so enraged.

“We found it!” someone yelled.

Nyxion’s gaze narrowed slightly as he turned his head toward the person. He stretched out his hand and grabbed something. I followed his arm to whatever it was, and my heart tightened when I saw it.

O-oh no.

He let go of my jaw and moved away from me. I didn’t bother to check if he had dislocated it because of what he was holding.

“I refused to believe it was you when I first heard it. I wanted evidence instead of words,” he started, flipping through the handbook.

Naeris’s handbook.

I thought I threw it out after taking it from her room.

“Nyxion, I don’t know how that got here. I swear it’s not what you think.” I stuttered, trying to get off the bed.

He read the contents inside the handbook, his brows furrowing slightly.

Did he see anything in it?

Why does he look confused?

“Take her for questioning,” he ordered, closing the handbook.

“W-what?” I gasped in shock. “I’m hurt, Nyxion! Can’t you see? I can’t move around! Why aren’t you listening to me?”

The guards walked past him toward me, and I gritted my teeth, moving to the other side of the bed, trying to escape—but one of them grabbed my arm.

“No! Let me go! Don’t touch me, you filthy animal!” I screamed, turning my head to Nyxion. “Nyxion, please!”

They dragged me off the bed, and I clenched my teeth feeling my stomach unsettled. Each of them grabbed one of my arms, dragging me out of the room.

The guards were still scattering the room, and from the corner of my eye, I saw one bend down to the spot where I had seen Margaret throw something under.

He stretched his hand under the furniture and took something out.

Oh, Lord, w-what’s that?

“Alpha Nyxion, you must see this.” He walked over to Nyxion and gave it to him. The guards continued to drag me out of the room, but his next words made them stop.

“Stop,” he ordered, turning around to face me. “There will be no need for questioning her. These letters already tell us what we are looking for. To think it was you who had been exchanging letters with Talon and even killed his messenger.”

He walked forward, stopping in front of me, waving the letters in the air. My head shook slowly.

“Those aren’t mine. I’m being framed, Nyxion. You know me too well to think I’d ever do such a thing,” I said through clenched teeth.

He closed the gap between us, forcing me to raise my head to look at him.

“Or this is your way of getting back at me for choosing another woman over you. You’re right about one thing, Aerila. I’ve known you well enough to know this is the type of stunt you would pull to get my attention, and that’s why you’re going to pay for it,” he whispered emotionlessly.

“Throw her in the dungeons and tighten the security. No one must get to her unless I say so,” he commanded, and the two guards dragged me away.

“Nyxion! Nyxion!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”

I screamed at the top of my lungs, anger gripping my heart.

I hate him.

I hate him!!

The door slammed shut as I was dragged down the hallway. Maids lowered their heads, exchanging glances with one another.

I stared at my bloody dress and shut my eyes in shame.

He didn’t care about the child.

He never bothered to know how I was feeling.

I perceived a familiar scent and turned my head in that direction. Far away from where I stood were Naeris and Alpha Aaron.

He was dressed in black attire, holding Naeris’s arm as though supporting her. For some reason, I couldn’t look away from the iciness in his eyes, and my fingers itched severely, as if remembering what had happened.

Naeris, on the other hand, watched without any expression on her face.

Wait… why did I suddenly have déjà vu?

Oh, I remember now.

It was when she was dragged to the dungeon and tortured.

My body shook violently as laughter erupted from my mouth.

“Ahahahahahaha!!! I’ll kill him! I’ll fucking kill him!!”
