Chapter 5
It's been hours since she left but Adrian hasn't stopped fantasizing about her. Most of his fantasies involve her spread out under him, screaming his name as he makes her come, over and over in his arms.
He has to bite back a groan of frustration as he thinks about the way she crossed her legs. How he yearned to taste what lay between those legs. It's all he can think about. He can’t fight the urge to see her again. Maybe he just needs to fuck her and get over this crazy obsession. He needs to know more about Iris Andrews. He has her name, that’s half of the work done.
He picks up his phone and dials Ezra's number. "I need your help," he says when Ezra picks up the call.
"You tend to whenever you call. But hey, I'm not complaining. Always happy to help. What's up?"
"I need more information about a woman, Iris Andrews. She works at 'Buzz' magazine."
"How soon do you need it?"
"Now."
"Alright. Hold on a second.”
He hears Ezra typing through the phone.
“I just sent you an email. Is it her?” he asks after a couple of minutes.
A notification pops up on his computer screen and he clicks on it. The woman he sees is indeed named Iris Andrews and has worked at 'Buzz' for five years, but she’s blonde and looks nothing like the woman he’s developed a sudden obsession with. What the hell’s going on?
“No, this isn’t her.” He pinches the bridge of his nose. “Can you get information on every woman that works for the magazine?”
“Hmm. That might take a little longer.” Ezra resumes his typing. Finally, he says, “Alright, you should see it now.”
He clicks on the new email from Ezra. There are only a few names on the list and each name has a picture accompanying it. Finally, he sees her; Elizabeth Parsons. Why would she lie about her name? What is she playing at?
“I need you to have someone follow her and call me with regular updates.”
“Okay boss. I'll get back to you in a bit,” Ezra says.
Adrian hangs up and settles in his chair. He has a business meeting and two phone calls left before his day is over. He’s about to call Amy to cancel all appointments when she walks in.
“Sir, I was able to book the appointment as you requested. Mr. Lewis is here to see you.”
“Crap. I completely forgot about that.” He leans forward. “Send him in.”
Amy leaves and Logan Lewis walks in a few seconds after. He stands to shake his hands over his desk. “Sorry for the short notice.”
“It’s no problem. I’m always available for my well-paying clients,” he says with a wide grin.
Adrian won’t lie, he’s not the guy’s biggest fan but he always gets the job done and Adrian trusts him. And there aren’t many people he deems worthy of his trust Logan clears his throat, “So, what needs fixing this time?”
Adrian sighs, “I need you to deal with this,” he says, tossing a phone across his desk toward Logan.
He can’t help but grimace as he speaks. His heart beat quickens whenever this topic comes up, and it’s never a gradual transition—it’s always just sudden, brutal pounding.
Logan looks hesitant. Then leans forward and says slowly, “I’m not sure there’s much else I can do. If we really want to avoid a situation, you might need to get involved. You’ll need to see her.”
Although Adrian hates to hear this, he knows it’s the truth. But it’s the last thing he wants to do.
“But I’ll get in touch with her doctors again to make sure that they remain committed to our agreement,” Logan adds.
“Thank you,” Adrian says curtly.
“Hey,” Logan says leaning back and raising his hands, “We could have easily done this over the phone. But I know, I know, you hate dealing with ‘delicate’ matters over the phone. Still an old school guy. Is there anything else?”
“No, that’s it. Get in touch with me once you make contact.”
“Will do.” He gets up from his seat and leans over the desk to shake Adrian’s hands.
He’s almost out the door when he turns back slightly. “Go see her, Adrian.”
Adrian gives him a stiff nod before he leaves. If only it were that simple.
His phone rings again; it’s a call from Ezra. “What did you find?”
“Nothing much. Just wanted to let you know what I just observed. I figured you’d want to know.”
Adrian sits up in his chair, his frown deepening. “What’s wrong? Is she hurt?”
“No, but she just walked into a club. Alone.”
“What’s she doing there?” Adrian asks roughly.
“Beats me. Should I have my guy get closer to find out?”
“No, no. Just have him wait around the club. I’ll be there soon.”
Adrian hangs up and leans back in his chair, his mind working furiously. Then he rises abruptly, his phone to his ear calling for his driver to meet him in front of the office building. He asks Amy to cancel all his afternoon appointments and he’s out of the office within five minutes.
