Chapter 131: Chapter 131
LANA'S POV
"So when is the wedding?"
"Oh, we haven't decided yet-
"What? Please don't say that again." She exclaimed, "Decide now, tomorrow's too late."
I chuckled, "Of course, Suzzy. We will."
"Please do." She added, tapping my hand, stepping closer. Wife of President Lue, from Lue Beauties N More. The top boss in the entire beauty industry, my very own clients. "You're my favourite girl, Lana. I'll hate to see one of these hussys around here snatch your man."
My man?
"Like they will dare," I scoffed, chuckling lightly as I joined her to look around. The luxury dripped room we were currently in, My dad's villa, but other things seemed to stand out more. Especially now after hearing Suzzy's words.
"Hungry eyes everywhere, Lana... Your man is a catch you know?"
He is.
I knew that. Which was why looking wandering eyes to his direction wasn't hard at all. His tall, proud figure standing ahead. Making a call. Backing me but still simply impeccable. Dark. Mysterious and totally off putting as he stood in the midst of elite men and women.
Even the blind would notice him. Feel his presence.
Exactly how I liked my men.
"You never can be too careful sweet. Take my advice," I turned to her, "make things official. Soon. Really soon, or you'll regret it." A smile, then she walked off. My smile following her too, brightening if anything. Camera then flashing in my direction, reports watching but laying low.
We always had to watch out for the reputation but still, I eyes went over them again. The females, pretty looking ones obviously oggling at him. Lingering around him, and one even now daring to approach him.
Bitch.
Bitches. All of them.
My jaw tightened. I smiled more, didn't even need to say much. Didn't bother wasting my breath, just pulled out my phone and dialed.
The line clicked,
"I'm going to send you names." I spoke, calm. Eyes pinned on the daring one. "Find them. Look up their pictures, profiles, families."
"Hey Lana,"
"Hiiii." I beamed, watching the guest stroll past. Still on the call. Eyes going back to the daring one again, seeing her getting bolder. Touching his arm slightly in pretense of explaining something.
My blood boiled.
"Handle it tonight." I said, "Take care of them all tonight. The usual. But a little special treatment for one."
Just one.
The call cut right after. No words, but understanding. My message passed clean and clear. I slipped my phone back into my purse right then, adjusting so I resumed my pace. Lips tugging into a smile, posture erect. Perfect.
Then I walked over to him.
My man.
My husband.
"Yes, yes, I'm into geography! And also-
"Hey baby." I cut in, smooth. Arms circling around his neck, capturing his delectable lips with mine. Right in front of her. The wannabe brunette dumbfounded. Taken aback as I swayed steadily to his side after. "Missed me? I promise I was only gone for a minute."
"Hey," his voice came, arm on my waist. Holding me steady. As usual. I rested on him. "And who is this? Your friend?"
He cocked his head to the side, looked at her. I looked at her too, but the words didn't leave his lips. They left hers instead. Boldy offended too.
"Meacana. I'm Meacana, I just told you." She protested.
I scoffed inwardly. Smirking.
He didn't even bother registering what your name is, or who the fuck you are. What makes you think hanging out these big boobs of yours in his face is going to change that, bitch?
Make yourself scarce!
"Whatever." She huffed, walking off. Leaving us alone, but my mind was already made up.
She'd be learning a lesson tonight. She would.
I turned my focus back to him, seeing him putting his phone away just then. "Let's go meet dad, baby? He's all the way at the back."
"Sure," he nodded, agreeing with me. Then together we walked over, hand in hand, step by step, people oogling, jealous, whispering what a good pair we were. Not that I didn't know that already.
I picked this man myself.
Later on i heard we were in the blogs, pictures and everything. Just the way I loved it but somehow... something felt off.
I mean, we were good. I was happy to be back home in the arms of my man, to see him, we went to see dad. Everything was smooth but... something was up somehow.
I noticed it from the first night. The night I landed in the country, heading home but deciding against that , rushing to his building first. Oxygen.
He was surprised to see me, that was normal. Anticipated too. We went home after, spent the weekend together but...he wasn't okay. Something was bothering him.
Work perhaps. He kept looking at his phone, grabbing it at every chance like he was expecting something. Or was something wrong at Oxygen? Was he facing some kind of problem?
"Baby, do you need help with the lounge?" I'd asked, offered after I watched him again mask up a scowling expression when I called for his attention. "I can help you. I have experience, I'm very good at what I do. You know it."
"It's nothing, Lan." He'd brushed it off, shutting his phone. Grabbing his laptop and leaving."Why don't you finalise the details for the wedding and we'll talk about it later?"
Right.
The wedding. I still had that to plan, lots of things to do. But was he brushing me off so he wouldn't share his problems with me?
We were dating you know. We were engaged, we've been engaged for a while now. In fact, we could've gotten married long ago if I didn't leave the country for Dad's new business at the edge of the border and ended up spending months over there.
A change of scenery I appreciated, but-
"The distance did a number on us?" I couldn't help but ask. Wonder as I watched him clean up for yet another morning at Oxygen. His movements quiet, expression neutral. Calm. But then too calm at the same time. Lacking that normal glint I was used to. Sexy all the same though.
"Do you want me to come to your office later?" I asked, watching him from the bed. He paused slightly, so I added,
"We could have lunch. Together. Or I can make something and bring it over."
"You don't have to." He responded, finished dressing. Grabbing his phones. "My schedule's pretty choked today, you might feel lonely."
"Well lonely is not bad." I joked, "I've been lonely since leaving your side all this while."
He met my eyes, smiled lightly. I knew I had permission then.
He didn't like me showing up there, I understood. He was clearly putting a difference between me and those females that go and work there.
I got it.
I loved it too. Loved his little tiny way of protecting my reputation. Showing just who I was to him and not like anyone of those naked ass bitches in his building.
Reason why I wasn't uncomfortable with him there.
He was my man. My loyal, utterly unbothered man by the female gaze. He was never one to be fazed by some boobs or ass. Naked or not.
Maybe it's cause he saw loads of them everyday? Anyways those slutty bitches, however they schemed, they didn't stand a chance.
Cause he wouldn't budge.
I could bet my life on that.
Plus, I'd handle any 'irregularities' too. If you know what I mean. So, what was there to fear?
He was all mine.
All mine.
Now I had to go prepare to visit him later!
"I better go pick out what to cook!" I jumped to my feet, kissing goodbye as he left and my hands reaching for the cupboards in the kitchen. "What do I cook? What do I cook?? What do I cook???"
There was nothing in the cupboards.
He ate out for sure these years. Meaning I had to go grocery shopping if I wanted to do anything, and would I? Would I really do that just to cook??
Who was I kidding, I'm going to cook??
"Hell no." I slammed the cupboards shut, stepping back into the living room. Grabbing my phone and simply dialing. Ordering.
"Hi, I need a full lunch set, everything expensive, creamy and delivered asap! Note; no labels."
And that's how it's done.
