Chapter 310 Kiss You Until You Shut Up

Chapter 310 Kiss You Until You Shut Up

Just then, Michael's voice cut through like ice. "Mom. Let her go."

Winter froze, as if the rebuke had drained all her strength. Her grip on my hand slowly loosened.

She whipped around to face Michael, her face drained of color, eyes red and swollen. "Michael! She's the only one who can beg William! This has to be William's doing! He just wants Evelyn! Give her to him!"

Michael didn't look at Winter. His dark eyes locked onto me, his tone laced with bitter resentment. "William's a despicable bastard. He's forcing my hand because he wants me to hand Evelyn over. But he's got it wrong. Even if I lose everything, I'll never let him win."

Every word was ice-cold. Clearly meant for me.

I looked at the obsession and desperation churning in his eyes. It was both laughable and pathetic.

There was no point arguing with a defeated man who'd lost his mind.

I said nothing. Just gave them both a cold glance and walked out of the room.

Behind me, Winter's wailing echoed. "Michael, please, just admit defeat to William! A real man knows when to bend! Besides, Evelyn isn't worth sacrificing everything for! If you give her to him, he won't destroy you like this!"

When I got home and opened the door, I was still thinking about Amelia—she'd promised to watch the kids, so I'd planned to make her favorite dishes for lunch.

But the pair of men's dress shoes in the entryway stopped me in my tracks.

The scene in the living room made me freeze.

William sat on the carpet, patiently teaching Isabella and Katya how to do a puzzle.

Sunlight fell across him. The man who was usually cold and distant radiated warmth.

Hearing me, he looked up. His gaze was calm, his tone natural—as if he belonged here. "Amelia called me. She had something come up last minute and couldn't make it. She asked me to watch the kids."

I was speechless. Amelia was really going all out with her "assists." This excuse was clearly just another way to create alone time for William and me.

Isabella looked up at me, beaming. "Mommy! Uncle William is amazing! Look, we already finished a quarter of the puzzle this morning!"

William stood, his gaze settling on my stiff face. A faint smile tugged at his lips. "Seeing me left you speechless with joy?"

I looked at his teasing expression. The chaotic scene from yesterday's private room flooded back into my mind.

William sent the kids away, telling them to go play in their room.

Once the door closed, he reached out and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, his fingers brushing my earlobe. He asked knowingly, "Why are your ears so red? What are you thinking about?"

I quickly stepped back, avoiding his gaze. I didn't want to respond to his teasing.

Then he asked, "I heard Michael was hospitalized?"

I sat down on the sofa, exhausted, and murmured a faint "Yeah."

"You took care of him all night?"

William's tone was loaded. "You're pretty devoted. I guess you fulfilled your duties as 'Mrs. Johnson.'"

I looked up, too tired to deal with this. "Mr. Brown, I haven't slept all night. I'm exhausted and in no mood for your passive-aggressive comments. If all you're going to do is mock me, please leave."

I turned toward the bedroom. I just wanted to sleep.

I'd barely taken two steps when a hand grabbed my wrist.

The next second, I was pulled into his arms.

I tensed, glancing nervously toward the kids' room, terrified they'd come running out.

He tightened his hold, his gaze softening. His voice was low and sincere. "I'm sorry. I was jealous just now. Seeing you run yourself ragged for another man—I couldn't control my emotions."

I froze.

His blunt apology left me at a loss.

William lifted his hand, his fingertips gently brushing the dark circles under my eyes. His touch was impossibly tender. "What do you want for lunch? I'll make it. Go rest for a bit."

Suddenly, I remembered Winter at the hospital—telling me to go back to William, to beg him.

What if Michael and his family were desperate enough to use my relationship with William against him again?

I didn't want all the effort I'd put into clearing William's name to go to waste.

"Mr. Brown, we've already broken up. You shouldn't be at my place. And you shouldn't—"

"Evelyn, do you want me to kiss you right here?"

Before I could finish, his tone turned cold. His gaze carried a dangerous edge. "From now on, every time you say something I don't like, I'll kiss you until you take it back. And I won't care where we are. Your choice."

I was stunned.

This was the living room. The kids could come out any second. I was terrified he'd actually do something reckless.

I didn't dare look into his deep eyes. I fled toward the bedroom.

Behind me, his voice carried a hint of laughter. "Then I'll go buy groceries myself. Get some sleep. I'll wake you when lunch is ready."

I paused but didn't answer. Still, my heart filled with a sense of security and peace.

Meanwhile, at the Hayes Villa.

Winter stumbled through the door, hair disheveled.

When she saw Imogen lying weakly on the sofa, her legs gave out. She collapsed to her knees with a heavy thud, wailing miserably. "Mom, please! You have to save us! Save me and Michael!"

Imogen tried to push herself up using the armrest, wanting to help her daughter. But her illness had hollowed her out.

She barely lifted herself before her vision went dark. She slumped back down, breathing heavily.

Seeing this, Ronan gripped his wife's hand tightly, then turned to Winter with fury. "You shameless wretch! How dare you come back here? Get out! Your mother is this sick, and you still have the nerve to disturb her rest?"

Before she could respond, he strode to the corner and grabbed the home oxygen machine.

Carefully adjusting the mask, he gently but quickly placed it over Imogen's face.

Watching her breathing gradually steady, his tense expression softened slightly.

But Imogen slowly shook her head, signaling Ronan not to get angry.

With the oxygen tube in her nose, she spoke weakly. "Ronan, don't... don't send her away. Let her... finish."

Winter latched onto this like a lifeline. She shuffled closer on her knees. "Mom, you have to stand up for Michael! All these years, I've treated you like my own mother. How can you just watch William bully Michael until he has nothing left?"
