Chapter 85: BROKEN FRIENDSHIPS

MIA

"I need you to listen to something."

I was eating cereal when Yuna appeared at the kitchen door way with her phone and a look on her face that made me put my spoon down.

"What is it?"

She pressed play.

Then I heard the sound of a window being opened, Dante’s voice and then my own moans. My body tensed up, ice flooding my veins as I listened till the end.

What the actual fuck?

"You recorded me," I said.

"Yes."

"Without my permission.” I said slowly, staring at her to see any sign of remorse.

"Yes." She didn't look away. "I need you to understand that I did it because I was scared and I didn't know what else to do to help you but I would do it again if it means I can save you from yourself."

I suddenly stood up, the chair scraping loudly against the floor as hot anger grew in my chest and I felt it moving to my heart.

"That's my room, Yuna. That's my private space in your home where I was supposed to be safe and you put a recorder in it. What the actual fuck? How could you break my trust like that? Heck! How can you expect me to ever trust you again?”

"Why the hell did you also let him in after everything? You were supposed to let me know if you ever saw him again.” She snapped.

"That was my choice."

"Was it?" She set her phone on the counter. "Because from where I'm standing you have lost all form of common sense when it comes to that man and frankly speaking, it is a sad sight to see.”

I gaped at her. How could she say this to me?

"Don't do that. Don't fucking try to make me seem insane when I know I am not.”

"Then tell me." Her voice cracked. "Tell me what's happening. Tell me who he is to you right now, after everything he has done to you. Tell me what you're doing."

"I'm living my life."

"You're protecting him."

"I'm making my own decisions."

"He is insane, Mia!”

“He just loves me!” I screamed.

For a moment, neither of us said anything as we stared at each other.

“I can’t believe you right now.” She stepped closer. “I showed my father the recording."

Everything stopped.

"You what?"

She held my eyes. "He will get a warrant and get Dante behind bars soon enough.”

The floor felt like it had been removed from under my feet. The anger in her face faded a bit at my reaction.

"I'm trying to help you," she said.

"You went to your father…. How could you?."

"Because you won't help yourself."

"That is not your decision!" I screamed. “I didn't ask for your fucking help Yuna so stop treating me like I am broken.”

"I didn't say you were broken—"

"You didn't have to." I grabbed my jacket off the hook by the door. "You don't want to help me. You just want control, yuna, and I have had enough of people deciding they know what's best for me."

"That is not the same thing and you know it."

"Do I?" I stopped at the door. "He loves me. You can hate it. You can think it's sick, wrong and whatever you want to think but it wont change anything.

"Mia." Her voice was quiet now. "Listen to what you just said."

I paused for a second with my hand on the door, trying to figure out if I was doing the right thing now.

"I'll get my things tomorrow," I said.

"Don't go to him."

I opened the door.

"Mia, please don't go to him tonight."

I went.

The city was cold as I walked fast with my jacket half zipped, my hands in my pockets, trying to push the look on Yuna’s face behind me.

I got to his apartment in record time and just as I raised my hand to knock, he pulled the door open.

We stared at each other for a moment.

“She betrayed me.”

He stepped back, allowing me to enter with his hand on my back.

"You're staying tonight."

You're all caught up
