Chapter 151

Chapter 151

LILIANA'S POV

So many suitors had come for me since I became Alpha, but I had turned every single one of them down.

Why? because I was still in love with Gerald and was secretly hoping he would come back.

I knew I was stupid to still want him after all he had put me through, but the heart wants what it wants.

“You need to choose a suitor, ma'am. You can't keep turning them all down.” Tabitha advised me when I turned down the most recent one.

“Other packs will be looking for ways to attack the pack if they know it's a female that's the alpha. You need a male by your side.”

I glared at her.

I knew she meant well, but I had not fought and risked my lifetime to get back my pack just for some random bastard male to share in the glory.

“No. I don’t need one.” I said to her,

“But, Mistress…”

I shook my head. “I understand where you are coming from, but I haven't fought tooth and nail to regain my pack just for some random man to come take the glory.”

“You're still in love with Alpha Gerald.” She whispered.

My hands curled into fists. It was the truth. I was still in love with Gerald, and I doubted I would ever stop being in love with him.

He was everything. And as much as he has hurt me by choosing Cassandra again, I still loved him.

“Am I that obvious?” I asked, grabbing the handles of my chair.

“Very.” He smiled.

“I am sorry, mistress. As much as I love you and Alpha Gerald together, maybe it's time you move on.”

That was unlike Tabitha to say. She was a lovely girl through and through.

If she was talking like this, it only meant one thing.

There was no hope.

“Okay.” I whipped, ignoring the ache in my chest as I uttered those words.

And so I chose one at last. At least he seemed alright.

Dimitri Leon.

He was handsome. If we had met any other time, I might have fallen for him, but every time I looked at him, I felt a big fat nothing.

“Are you listening to me, darling?” Dimitri asked one day.

We were going over the wedding plans when Tabitha walked in and handed me something. It was a wedding invitation to Gerald and Cassandra's wedding.

My hands shook as I stared at the invitation. Their wedding is in less than two weeks.

“Honey…” I looked up and smiled; it was fake, but Dimitri didn't seem to notice.

“Sorry, go on.”

I smiled up at him.

Why couldn't I just love him?

We had known each other for a month, but every time I looked at him, I felt absolutely nothing.

“You're clearly worried about something. Tell me.”

“No, I'm fine. I swear. I was just distracted.”

“Care to tell me what about?”

“Um, I got an invitation from a…friend. A wedding invitation.”

“I see. Are you going?”

“Uh… I don’t think so.” I smiled.

He nodded and didn't ask further questions, which honestly made me feel better.

I needed to put things behind me. I needed to let Gerald go and focus on this amazing man that was next to me.

I stood up and made my way to him and then sat on his lap.

He looked up at me surprised; before he could say anything, I pulled him into a kiss.

He kissed me back, clearly surprised.

In the one month we had been together, this was the first time I was kissing him.

He kissed me back like a starving man.

“I've always wanted to do this.” He moaned.

He was a great kisser, but he wasn't Gerald.

“Well, you get to do it as soon as we are married.” I said.

That day, I let him touch me, but when it came to sex, I stopped him.

I wasn't ready yet.

I was in my room, going over some reports, when I heard a faint knock on the window.

At first, I thought I imagined it. But then it came again—firmer this time.

I frowned, walking closer and drawing the curtain aside. My breath caught.

Gerald.

He stood outside, hands in his pockets, looking up at me like the past few months hadn’t existed at all.

My chest tightened instantly.

I pushed the window open. “What are you doing here?” I hissed, keeping my voice low so the guards wouldn’t hear.

“We need to talk, Liliana,” he said. And just the sound of my name on his lips unraveled me.

“I have nothing to talk to you about.”

“Oh, yes, you do.”

He stepped closer, his face now just inches from mine, the night air between us charged with tension. My heart thudded faster, my lips parting involuntarily.

After all these months, he still affected me.

“Fine,” I muttered, finally pulling the curtain aside wider. “Come in.”

We didn't talk much. The attraction didn't leave much to talk about.

One moment we were staring at each other; the next, he was slamming me against the wall, kissing me like he was starving.

It didn't take long for my body to melt into his.

“Gerald, please.” I begged as he fucked me against my desk, his cock hitting the right spot and sending me over the edge.

I grabbed a fistfulof his hair, forcing his lips over mine.

“Ah, yes. Please, please.”

“Lily, you're mine.” He grunted, thrusting deep inside my sex, hitting the G-spot.

Those words sent me over the edge, and I came hard, my walls clenching around his cock.

When I woke in the middle of the night, he was gone, and I cried heavily until I fell asleep again.

I waited for Gerald after that night we had sex, but he never came back the next morning.

I heard the rumors about Cassandra, and I made up my mind I was going to get Gerald back this time. I wasn't going to wait for him to get over his shame and guilt.

I was on my way to Gerald's three days later alone to stop the wedding and get him back when my car broke down.

What the hell?

I got out of the car and realized it was a trap.

A bunch of rogue-looking wolves jumped out of trees and raced towards me.

I took out my dagger that Max had given me and threw it at one of them.

He fell to the ground bleeding.

Then I opened my car, trying to get my gun.

I opened it and grabbed my gun and shot one as they were about to grab me, but little did I know I had been shot.

I took out the dart that was used to shoot my neck. I fell to the ground before I knew it.

I woke up to find I was being pulled into the woods.

Somehow I already suspected Tony and Damon were behind it, so I wasn't too surprised when I saw them.

They tied me to a pole, and I was left alone with Tony.

“The eye patch suits you well.” I complimented him, and his hand reflexively curled into fists when I did.

He sneered.

“I kinda like it myself, but you're still going to pay for it, you stupid bitch!” he spat.

“Dad left the pack to me, not you, because he saw the darkness in your heart.” I told him as I secretly worked on the weak rope holding me.

He rushed at me unexpectedly, grabbing my throat painfully. “And that's why I had him killed. I wasn't ready to be second to anyone, especially not a clumsy she-wolf.”

“What did I ever do to you?” I glared.

“Of course you don't remember,” he laughed. “You were the reason my mother was banished.”

“She tried to kill me.” I snapped, remembering the day Tony's mother had taken me to the pool and drowned me.

I had been saved by a stranger and taken to my father.

“Liar! You hated her because you were jealous that she loved me more than she loved you.”

She tried to kill me, and now I know why. It was because of you. She wanted to give you my birthright. I was going to give it to you, by the way, the pack, but you had to be evil; you had to kill my father!’

I spat.

He growled and pounded on me, punching me over and over again, hate in his eye.

He punched me over and over; pain surged through me, and I couldn't breathe. I tried to fight back, but I was still trying to free myself from the rope.

Finally I was free of the rope, and I caught his fist. He was shocked to see I was free, and I began pummeling his damaged eye again, and each punch made him scream in pain and anger.

Subconsciously, I registered the sound of fighting going on outside, and I wondered what was going on.

That was when Damon rushed in panicked and bloodied. “We are under attack.”

He saw that I was also attacking his friend and rushed at me, but suddenly a gun rang out, and he fell forward on his face, writhing in pain on the ground. There was a bullet wound in his shoulder.

Another shot rang out, and Tony clutched his chest where blood was spreading and fell to the ground. He tried to say something but instead coughed up blood. Finally his body went still. He was dead, his eyes wide open.

That was when Gerald stepped in with a gun in hand, his hard. “Filthy bastard.” He spat.

“Gerald!” I cried out, my heart racing. He came. He came to save me.

I rushed towards him and hugged him.

He pulled away and crushed his lips against mine.

“You're okay!”

“You came back.” I whispered, and he kissed the tip of my nose.

“I had to correct my mistake,” he said. “I'm sorry for not believing you.”

We both went back to his pack. And I went to see Cassandra in the dungeons, first things first.

She was haggard-looking, and her hair was dirty. Still she looked at me with hatred.

“Are you happy now you have him all to yourself?” She spat.

Gerald came in and stood by the door, not interfering.

I grabbed her throat with both hands and pressed down hard on it; I wanted her dead. I wanted what she did to my baby to be her fate.

She coughed, clawing at my hands to stop, but I didn't stop.

“You are going to die for what you did to my baby.” I spat at her, hate coursing through my veins.

I kept on pressing down on her windpipe, determined to see her die.

At the last moment, I pushed her away. She coughed and sputtered, holding her throat.

“You will pay for everything you ever did.” I told her and walked away, Gerald following me.

I heard her coughing violently.

“You didn't kill her.” Gerald said when we were both in his bedroom.

“Yeah,” I nodded. “I am not ready yet.” I lied. I wanted to kill her, I did, but I realized that would be merciful. I wanted her to see Gerald and me married and not be able to do anything about it.

He nodded.

“Whenever you are ready. She is in the dungeon for your pleasure.”

“I am sorry.” I faced him, caressing his face.

“Sorry about what?” He asked.

“Sorry that I was right about her.”

He sighed. “No, I'm sorry for not believing you. You were right. I should have trusted you.”

“How did you know where to find me?” I asked.

“I got Cassandra to confess.” He said.

“Plus,” he tucked a strand of my hair behind my ears.

“I could hear your heart crying for me. The mate bond led me to you.”

I smiled and kissed him.

That night, our bodies tangled and merged with each other, and he marked me. For the first time since we started making love, I felt like I was truly his.

“Will you marry me?” Gerald asked the next day during dinner.
