Chapter 192: Chapter One Hundred and Ninety-Two
Evan turns his attention to me and smirks. "Does Dad know about your relationship with Keaton?" Evan asks, looking over at me with an evil looking smile. Here we go, he isn't even in here with us yet and Evan is already trying to start crap.
I look over at Mom, she shakes her head. That's kind of what I figured. Mom doesn't tell Dad a lot of things. He is always busy and she doesn't like to bother him with silly stuff. I turn my attention back to Evan, narrowing my eyes at him. "No, he doesn't and he doesn't need to know." I snap.
Evan laughs. "So, you don't mind letting the whole fucking school know that you are a whore, but you don't want Dad to know?" He asks.
"Watch your mouth Evan and I don't want to hear you call your sister that ever again. Do you understand me?" Mom snaps, looking at Evan.
Evan shrugs. "I was just saying what everyone at school thinks of her." He says casually, like he didn't just insult me.
"I don't care what the people at school think of me Evan, they can think I'm a whore, a bitch, a slut, whatever the fuck they want to call me. I don't give a fuck. You know why?" I ask, pausing for a brief second. "Because I'm happy, Evan. Keaton makes me happy, he is sweet, caring, funny and he always knows how to make me smile. If you have a problem with that, then you can just kiss my fucking ass, along with the rest of the stupid ass people at school." I snap, reaching over and taking Keaton's hand in mine under the table.
"Erin, watch your language." Mom says.
"Why can everyone at school kiss your ass, sweetheart?" Dad asks, as he walks into the dining room. Shit. I didn't know he was going to walk in just then, otherwise I wouldn't have said anything.
"Dan!" Mom says, as she shakes her head.
I would laugh if I wasn't so pissed off at Evan right now. I look over at him and smile, shaking my head. "It's nothing Dad. Evan is just being a jerk."
Evan scoffs. "Oh, so now you want to lie to Dad too, not just me?" Evan asks.
I look over at him again, glaring at him and he smiles like he is having a great time. I really just want to jump across this table right now and beat the shit out of him. I really think it would make me feel better.
"Can you just mind your own fucking business?" I snap.
"I will mind my own business when you stop being a whore." Evan says.
"If you call her a whore one more fucking time, I am going to break your fucking jaw." Keaton snaps, obviously fed up with Evan calling me names.
Evan stands up so fast he almost knocks his chair over. "I dare you to fucking try." He snaps, staring directly at Keaton.
Keaton starts to stand up, but I squeeze his hand, keeping him from moving. He looks at me and I shake my head. It's not worth fighting with him. "It's okay." I whisper, looking at Keaton.
"That's enough." Mom yells, looking between Keaton and Evan. "I don't want to hear anymore name calling or threats. Do you two understand me?" She asks.
Neither Keaton or Evan say anything as Evan sits back down. "What is going on with you guys?" Dad asks, staring at the three of us.
Evan turns to look at Dad. "Your daughter is a whore, and the person I thought was my best friend is a backstabbing asshole that probably only moved in here to sleep with Erin." Evan says, sounding both hurt and irritated at the same time.
Dad turns to look at me. "What is he talking about?" He asks. "Are you and Keaton sleeping together? Is that why he moved in here?"
I don't say anything. How am I supposed to tell my dad that I am having sex with my brother's best friend or even just sleeping in the same room as him? I can't. Telling Mom was one thing. She is my mom. I have always been able to talk to her about everything, but my dad? When he isn't working, which is maybe one day a month for like thirty minutes, we don't really talk about personal stuff. I can't actually remember the last time he just stopped and asked me how things were going.
Dad stares at me for what feels like the longest minute of my life and when I don't answer him, he turns to Mom. "Did you know about this? Did you know Erin and Keaton are sleeping together?"
Mom sighs. "I know they are dating. I don't know if they are sleeping together." She says. "They are all adults. They can do whatever they want."
"You knew they were dating while he is living here and you didn't think to fucking tell me?" Dad snaps, raising his voice at Mom, which is something I have only heard one other time.
"I didn't think you would care." Mom says.
"You didn't think I would care that my daughter is sleeping with her live in boyfriend? That is the stupidest fucking excuse I have ever heard." Dad snaps. "You just don't want me to kick his fucking ass out of my house."
My heart sinks. He wouldn't actually kick Keaton out, would he? I don't want him to get kicked out. I want him here with me. He can't go back home. His parents don't give a shit about him. I don't think his mom or dad have even asked about him one time since he has been living there. If Dad kicks Keaton out, then I am leaving too.
"You are not kicking anyone out. I didn't tell you because you are always fucking busy working. You don't have time for your family. I didn't think you would have time to care. So, I decided not to tell you. If you have a damn problem with that feel free to leave." Mom yells back, catching me completely by surprise. I don't think I have ever heard her yell at Dad before. Mom is always so calm.
"I will fucking leave." Dad says, as he pushes his chair back away from the table and storms out of the dining room.
Mom doesn't say anything as Dad walks out, she just stares at him. I feel like I should say something to him. I just don't know what to say. There is nothing I can say to fix this and honestly, I don't know who he is more mad at right now. Me or Mom? Anything I said would probably just makes things worse.
