Love Confessed

Love Confessed

CHAPTER 187

ZYLIAH'S POV

I waited in the room while Kevin slipped out to go get Sayge.

I thought of everything Kevin and I had discussed. He made some pretty good points, but it didn't stop my pain. It didn't quell the hurt I was currently feeling.

Kevin was right about few things. Like when he'd said I was using him as a rebound to get over my feelings—that was absolutely correct. And it made me feel guilty.

Kevin was a nice guy. He didn't deserve to be used like that. But honestly, I liked him. I sincerely enjoyed his company. I loved being around him. So it was easy to use him as my source of distraction.

As soon as Sayge stepped in, I let my feelings come loose and realized that Kevin was also right—no matter what Sayge had done, I was still helplessly in love with him.

That knowledge brought tears to my eyes. I had to blink it back. He approached me looking hopeful yet terrified.

"Hi, baby," he greeted, staring into my face.

The emotions packed in those two words undid me. I burst into tears, covering my face with my palms.

I felt his hand come around me.

"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. I was so stupid and careless and insensitive that I hurt you so bad. Baby, I am sorry. I promise to make things better. I'm sorry." Each word carried love, assurance, and promises.

"W-why did you do it?" I sobbed on his shirt.

He let me, unbothered that I might mess up his shirt with tears and snot.

The familiar scent of him filled my nose, making me realize how much I had missed him. How much I was missing him.

"Because I was foolish and angry and hurt. But it's no excuse for doing what I did. I didn't know you kept yourself for me. I saw that pregnancy and thought you were having a good time with him."

"I understand your anger. What I don't understand is why you would believe the words of a woman who has hated me from the day our paths crossed. Why would you even think of impregnating her?"

"No excuse, baby. I'm so sorry. Please, forgive me."

To my shock, he slowly slid to his knees, arms still around my waist. I wiped my eyes to meet his dull, unhappy eyes.

This was a part of him I would have sworn almost nine months ago that he didn't have. The stoic, cold persona was nowhere in sight.

Before me was a man humbled by love and tortured by emotions, who was doing anything to get me back—including talking to a guy he didn't like. Sayge was a man of pride, and I certainly could guess how much of that pride he had to swallow to ask Kevin for help.

I just wanted to know if he knew Kevin's game plan too.

"Did you know?" I sniffled.

He frowned, seemingly lost. "Know what?"

"About your grandmother's plan with Kevin."

"No. Well, yes," he corrected. "But I didn't know from the start. He told me on our way here."

"So why did you go to him when you had no idea this was planned? I mean, he was my boyfriend. So what are the chances that he would have agreed to help you?"

"I decided to try my luck. At that point, he was my last hope. I reasoned that my grandmother and my dad support you. They wouldn't even pay me attention on this matter. And your best friends? You wouldn't listen to them because you are angry and you have Kevin, so you are likely to tell them you have moved on. Kevin was my next best shot. You listen to him, and you like him. I know he likes you too, so I just had to." He was still on his knees.

I couldn't let him keep kneeling, so I signaled for him to get up.

"Have you forgiven me?" he asked hopefully.

I stared at him for a minute longer, then—also going on my knees—slithered my arms about his neck and placed my lips on his.

Instantly, he responded. Pulling me closer, his tongue seeking dominance in my mouth. I almost forgot how much his kisses affected me. A moan escaped me.

He gently began to lower my back to the ground until I was lying on the floor and he was atop me. Our mouths clashing and tangling, drawing both passion and pleasure.

The kisses grew urgent. A hand found its way into his hair, grabbing and pulling. He grunted his pleasure.

My fingers slithered down to his neck and found their way to his chest, and I struggled to get the shirt off of him.

He obliged, and minutes later, we were both eager and naked. He slipped into me, my legs wrapped firmly around him.

Our moans and groans filled the room.

Making love to him, here and now, it felt like we were never apart.

His mouth found mine again and flamed the passion and lust sizzling through my blood and brain cells, making it almost impossible for my brain to conjure thoughts.

And from the constant rumbling in his throat, he was as sunken as I was in this sea of endless passion and desire that floated above like clouds hovering over meadows.

"Oh God," I cried softly, matching his thrust and pace with the movement of my hips.

I was this close to reaching my gratifying plateau. And when I did, it was with a shudder and loud cries tearing through me.

"I love you so much, Zyliah," he confessed emotionally as he found his release seconds after I did, spilling his seed into me.

For moments, none of us could talk. We were more focused on catching our breaths.

He rolled away from me, his back to the floor. He snuck his hand beneath my bare body and rolled me into his warm one.

He placed a kiss on my forehead. "I'll be forever grateful to Kevin."

I chuckled. "Yes. He's one of the few good men left."

"Typical of me to have misjudged him. I'm glad I went to him." His hand caressed my back; the happiness in his tone was immeasurable.

I checked within myself and also acknowledged the excitement and laughter bubbling free inside me, not to mention the love swelling my heart for him. "Sayge?" I raised my head to him.

He lowered his eyes. "Hm."

"I forgive you. And I'm sorry because I know I have hurt you with the decisions I made as well."

"Hey, baby. It's okay." He cradled me closer.

"Please, let me finish." I licked my lips. "I'm not perfect; neither are you. But it's obvious how much we want each other. So I'm open for a new beginning. About Claire's pregnancy, well—what's one extra blessing in the Williams household?" I flashed him a grin. "If I can love Alexa like my own, then I'll love the hell out of that baby. So know this, Sayge Harold Williams, I am wholeheartedly, terribly, fully, hugely, exclusively in love with you, and no matter how far I move away from you, it cannot change how I feel."

I thought I saw his eyes gleaming with tears, but he pulled me into the biggest hug, his expression full of gratitude and love.

"Zyliah Davis, you're my forever and extra. I'm irrevocably, wholesomely, happily, exceptionally, obsessively in love with you too."

"Obsessively?" I said in a laugh, my heart growing even bigger by his honest confession.

"You don't want to know how many times I've wanted to smash Kevin's head into a wall for even breathing the same air as you."

I let out a full-blown laugh, realizing this was the happiest I've been in months.
