Chapter 515: Confession of Love

"You really don't have to go into so much detail," Lucius reminded her, trying to keep his cool.

Allegra couldn't help but laugh. Was he just jealous? She wasn't going to hold back now.

If he hadn't been so heartless back then, would she have had this time with Nico? In the end, it was all his own doing. If only he had known that years later, he would fall in love with her...

She could feel the love from Lucius.

Allegra steadied her emotions and continued, "Nico gave me a lot of money, so I agreed to go together with him,and he also gave me a big house. I started living a life that, while not rich, was at least comfortable. And after being with Nico, I realized just how much he liked me. For a while, I really thought I would spend my life with Nico."

Lucius took a deep breath, reminding himself that it was all in the past. He didn't mind, he told himself. He was broad-minded; he didn't mind at all.

"I was really happy during my time with Nico. He healed all my bad impressions of love," Allegra said, not forgetting to add, "And all those bad impressions of love were because of you."

He felt like she had just stabbed a hole in his heart. And she didn't even realize it, continuing to twist the knife.

"But Nico was completely different. Nico was really good to me. He would cook for me, surprise me, and he always respected me," Allegra said, getting more animated. "Several times, I wanted to take things further, but he always refused, even though I could feel his emotions."

"Allegra, damn it, do you think I'm dead?" Lucius finally couldn't hold back and swore.

At that moment, he wanted to find Nico and fight him, he was so angry he could spit blood.

"I just wanted to say that Nico and I were completely innocent. Nothing happened between us while we were together," Allegra said with a bright smile.

"So, are you regretting it?" Lucius asked through gritted teeth.

"Is that the point?" Allegra was exasperated.

"I knew you and Nico never did anything," Lucius said. He was too smart to miss such a crucial detail.

"You knew?"

She and Nico had been so close that everyone would have suspected.

"During the first episode of the show, you said your first time was with me," Lucius reminded her.

"And you believed that?" Allegra asked.

"I did," Lucius nodded.

He had said he knew Allegra well. Allegra wouldn't lie, and he had to admit it. Hearing her answer had made him happy for a long time.

Of course, he admitted that even if Allegra had done something with Nico, he wouldn't have judged her for it. He would have loved her just the same, but knowing nothing had happened, he was clearly happier.

"But I didn't believe you," Allegra said, feeling a bit guilty.

Lucius had said their first time was his first, but she hadn't believed him. She still didn't believe it, thinking it was just an act to build his image. Because their marriage was still under scrutiny, it was just to show the world how good their relationship was.

"It doesn't matter," Lucius said, trying to sound generous.

Allegra frowned, her expression suddenly changing. "So, as long as you know I was innocent with you, nothing else matters, right?"

"So if I had done something with Nico, you would have..." Allegra started.

"No," Lucius said firmly, then added with a smile, "But it's better that nothing happened."

"Ha, men!" Allegra scoffed.

Lucius couldn't be angry now; he was even a bit happy. It was just so realistic.

"You know I was forced to break up with Nico," Allegra continued.

Lucius nodded.

"I was really sad when we broke up," Allegra admitted.

Lucius's smile began to fade.

"But after I left Phoenix City, I slowly got over it. After all, it wasn't long before I got pregnant with Emery," Allegra recalled. "Emery's birth made me forget a lot of things and let go of a lot of things."

Lucius pressed his lips together. He wondered if Allegra had been scared or helpless when she gave birth to Emery alone.

"I'm sorry," Lucius apologized.

No matter the reason, in the end, he had abandoned Allegra. He hadn't been there for her.

"It's okay," Allegra accepted.

She knew what Lucius was apologizing for, and she had really let it go.

Even though for a long time, she hadn't been as carefree as she thought, she couldn't understand why she had to be treated so badly by Lucius, why she had to be abandoned by him again and again.

Now she really felt that the past didn't matter anymore. Because it didn't matter, she could tell Lucius everything. To say goodbye to the past.

"Back then..." Lucius looked at Allegra and said slowly, "I had a serious car accident."

Allegra was stunned. She knew he had a car accident, but she didn't know the exact timing.

"That day, after I left, I went to film. The schedule was tight, and by the time I finished, it was very late. But no matter how late, I would come back. I told you to wait for me."

So, Lucius had a car accident because of her? Allegra's heart ached, more and more.

"On the way back, I had an accident. My car went off a cliff. When I woke up, it was six months later," Lucius said apologetically.

It wasn't what he wanted; he was a victim, too. But he was apologizing to her.

Allegra bit her lip, her eyes red.

"When I found out I had a disabled leg, I thought about not coming to find you," Lucius said.

"Why?" Allegra asked, still agitated.

If he had come to find her then, maybe they wouldn't have missed those three years.

"I was afraid you would reject me."

"Am I that kind of person?"

"You care about looks," Lucius pointed out.

"But your face was fine, what did your leg matter?"

"My face was disfigured, too. What you see now is after reconstruction," Lucius explained.

"Lucius, what kind of person do you think I am? Do you really think I only liked you for your looks? Yes, I admit you're good-looking, but not as good-looking as George! When I found out George and I weren't related, I didn't just fall in love with him!" Allegra said angrily.
