Chapter 130: Prisoner

Cassidy’s head throbbed as she scrunched her face and slowly started to wake up. Her neck was sore as she raised her head gradually to see where she was. Her vision was a little blurry as she tried to blink her eyes to regain focus. Her heart started racing as she began to see unfamiliar things around her, not knowing where she was. She tried to think about the last thing she remembered, but she was having a hard time remembering. She tried to move her around and looked down at the ropes that were wrapped around her.

“Well, well, look who finally decided to wake up,” a voice said out to her in the slightly lit room she was sitting in.

Cassidy’s chest filled with anxiety as she recognized the male voice in the room. She closed her eyes and prayed it was all a bad dream.

“Oh, Cassidy, Cassidy,” he said in a sorrowful tone. “You thought you were able to get away from me, didn’t you?” he asked her as he moved closer into the room. “I’ve got you all to myself now. No one will be able to find you. You are all mine,” he whispered softly into her ear.

Cassidy pulled away, but she knew she couldn’t go too far. The ropes that bound her were extremely tight, leaving very little room for her to move. She let out a yelp when the man grabbed her by the hair and yanked her head back.

“I can’t wait for our special night. It’s going to be something you never forget.”

She tried to keep herself calm, not wanting to show him that he was frightening her. She didn’t want to give him the satisfaction that everything he was saying scared her to her very core. She scrunched her eyes tight, forcing the tears not to fall. She prayed to whoever was listening to her, begging them to let Jacob know that she had been taken.

“Open your eyes and look at me,” he sneered as he pulled on her hair harder.

“Oww,” Cassidy cried out before giving in and doing what he told her to do. She opened up her hazel eyes and stared into his light brown eyes. She tried to search her head to figure out what she did to deserve this kind of treatment. All she ever was was nice to him, and she didn’t understand why he was so obsessed with her when she refused to go out with him.

Mark’s eyes twinkled with excitement, knowing that he was causing her pain. She ruined his life when he lost his job and his credibility as a senior editor. No one was going to hire him when they found out why he was fired. It was all her fault, every single thing, and he was going to enjoy every second that he made her pay for what she had done.

Raymond threw open the door and started moving around the room. He caught a hint of the same scent he found outside in that side alleyway. There were different smells in that building due to the renovations and fresh paint. He could tell this was the very reason they used this space to abduct her, to try and hide the smell of chemicals that were used to drug her.

He continued to search around the place, looking for any clue that could help them find Cassidy, when he received a mind link.

Gavin: Raymond, where are you at?

Raymond: Fourth floor.

A short while later the elevator opened, and both Teddy and Gavin stepped out of the elevator.

“What’s going on? Why are you on this floor?” Gavin questioned.

Raymond ran his hand through his hair and rested his hands behind his neck before he sighed heavily and answered, “This is the last place Cassidy was before she disappeared.”

Both of them froze as fear and worry shifted through them. “Raymond, how can that be?”

Raymond shrugged.

“I didn’t get here until after she was gone. I’ve talked with everyone that had seen or talked with her last, and no one knows anything.”

“Have you talked with security? Jacob has this place completely secured. One of the cameras had to pick up something.” Teddy suggested.

“No, I haven’t yet. But what are we going to tell Jacob about his mate?” Raymond asked with a voice filled with concern.

Gavin walked over to him and wrapped his arm around his shoulder. “Let’s gather as much intel as we can get, and then we will tell him what has happened.” Gavin offered in a soothing tone.

Raymond was frustrated that this was happening; he didn’t want to be blamed for their future Luna being taken on his watch. Raymond closed his eyes and nodded his head slowly. He sucked in a breath, and a beautiful scent filled his lungs. He heard the chime of the elevator, and as the door opened, Kaitlyn and Natalie walked into the room.

“Hey, Kaitlyn was able to get the codes to check out all the security footage for the last few hours. Come on, let’s see if we can find out who took Cass,” Natalie said.

Raymond’s heart raced as he stared at Kaitlyn. He was going to have to do something about this mate thing quickly.
