Chapter 24

I just sighed while looking at my phone. I wanted to call her but I knew we would just fight. I already know his behavior and I know he really wants to hurt me with his hurtful words.

"Where is Sir Ransom, Ma'am?" Beth asked curiously.

"Ahm, still busy at work," I lied.

Even though the truth is that I don't know where my husband is. But even so, I still hope that he will get home. I know that his heart will also soften especially when he sees Baby Yumi.

A few moments later, someone knocked on the door of my room. I quickly straightened myself up and stood up to open the door. I hoped it was Ransom.

I took a deep breath before turning the door knob.And My mother in law appeared in front of me.

"Hi Camilla! Where is the baby? Can I carry her?” she asked with a smile.

"Yes, come in, mom" I answered with a smile.

When she entered, she immediately approached the baby and carried it in her arms. It was so beautiful to watch the two people that have been a part of my life.

And I was surprised when Beth suddenly asked her about Ransom. I wanted to cover this girl's mouth with tape. Beth was really curious and I was embarrassed by her question to my mother in law.

"Why hasn't Sir Ransom come home yet, Madam?" Beth asked.

She was silent for a moment and she looked at me before she spoke.

"Ahm, busy at work but he will come home soon," she replied with a smile that was obviously forced.

"I already answered that question of yours, Beth," I said.

"Ahm, yes, ma'am. I'm sorry if I'm too curious,"Beth apologized.

"It's fine, but next time you'll be gossiping," Ransom's mother responded firmly but calmly.

"Just kidding!" she tried to smile.

Suddenly the door opened and we were both surprised when Ransom appeared in front of us.

As usual, this man frowned again. He looked at me seriously and turned to his mother and tried to smile.

"Finally, you’re here now! “his mother said.

"Yes, mom. You saw that I'm here so are you happy now?" he asked with a smile but his face showed signs of being forced and obviously irritated.

He approached his mother and kissed her on the cheek and said goodbye to take a shower.

I just sighed and felt sad. He didn't even carry the baby or even look at her face. Is his heart really that hard?

Our child is not at fault here. In fact, it was his fault because he took advantage of my drunkenness at that time. The fact that he was also drunk was not enough for me.

His mother looked at me and I tried to smile at her. I don't want her to notice or see that Ransom and I are not okay. I also know that she loves her son too much.And I know that his father is the only one who criticizes his mistakes.

A few moments later, Beth's phone rang. Ransom's father was calling and was looking for my mother in law.

Mommy said goodbye to me and left. I took baby yumi and carried her in my arms. Beth was just smiling looking at me so I asked her why she was smiling.

"I noticed you were smiling earlier. Why, Beth?" I asked.

"It's fun to look at you. One of my dreams is to have a child, Ma'am" she replied with a smile.

"Uhm, that will come to you too, Beth. Right now you're still young. How old are you?" I asked.

"19 years old, Ma'am," she answered.

Beth is a working student. Ransom's family allowed her to work in order to support her studies and also help her parents. Because their life in the province is so difficult, her parents cannot afford to send her to school.I know that because they talked about it in the past.

"Of course, Ma'am. I will really prioritize my studies. I don't even have a boyfriend yet, hehe!" she said with a smile.

"That's good," I replied.

"I didn't think that baby Yumi would come into my life. For me, she is a blessing that I didn't ask for but came. I'm so very blessed to have my daughter, Beth," I said to Beth with a smile.

Beth smiled at what I said. I really can't ask for anything more than to raise my daughter well and see her grow up. I will do everything for her and I only wish that her Father and I can get along well.

A few minutes later, Beth said goodbye because she said she had something else to do. She promised to come back soon but I didn't send her back.

"I'll just call you when I need you. Rest first, Beth," I calmly told her.

She thanked me profusely before leaving the room. While I was waiting for Ransom to come out of the bathroom. I was thinking of what to say because I didn't know how to deal with him. Our life is different now because Baby Yumi is here and I don't want her to witness our fight.

After a few seconds, he came out. I drooled at the beauty of his body. Our eyes met at that time. But he avoided looking at me and took clothes from the closet.

"Don't you want to carry our baby?" I asked bravely.

He didn't answer so I scolded him and I forced him to carry our daughter. But I was surprised when he suddenly raised his voice at me in front of our baby.

"Don't you really understand?!" he yelled at me in a loud voice.

"I'm sorry but I hope you don't bully me in front of our daughter," I answered.

"I never wanted to have a daughter. She is not my child!" he said emphatically.

"Baby Yumi is your daughter, so I hope you don't let her hear that you reject her, Ransom," I said crying.

"I want a son not a daughter!" he replied firmly.

I just sighed and feel depressed at what he said.He shook his head and walked away and I was very surprised by what he did.
