Chapter 21 Sienna's POV
Kael and I were going shopping today for stuff to furnish his house. After the whole scene yesterday, he apologized for him fighting.
He looked so sorry, like a guilty puppy that had done something and was now begging for forgiveness.
I forgave him though. He was adorable enough, plus it wasn't his fault Ronan was a major asshole. It was also not his fault the house was thrashed.
He'd been nothing less than helpful.
After we cleaned up the house, he asked me if he could move into the apartment next to mine.
It was recently empty and the landlord was still looking for someone to occupy the apartment.
He wanted to be around to protect me. According to him, he couldn't trust me with any of those people—one of them was an asshole and the other a slimy bastard.
He insisted until I agreed, and I agreed because the thought of having him as my neighbor permanently felt great.
At least I wouldn't have to deal with that crazy bastard alone.
It would be us two against his evil ass.
He took the offer.
I was really excited about it.
The landlord was more than willing to get everything signed as soon as possible and so the next day (today), the landlord brought the agreement for Kael to sign and now Kael was officially my next-door neighbour.
“What else are we forgetting to write on the list?” I asked. He took another look at the list on his phone.
“Nothing. I think we're good,” he smiled, and I nodded.
“Alright, let's get going. I can't wait.” I was so excited to finally decorate a house to my taste.
…
We were finally done shopping and I was exhausted. I couldn't believe we actually bought that much stuff.
We’d ordered it to be sent to the house as soon as possible and we were finally on our way home.
We created a budget that was pretty good.
But then we spent way over the budget. I mean everything was so expensive and he insisted on buying anything I as much as looked at twice.
I had been against the idea of spending that much, but he'd insisted that it wasn't much.
He told me that he planned on staying here for long so we might as well sprawl.
I mean, at some point I stopped seeing the price tags on stuff, and when I asked how much it was, the staff would look at him and call a ridiculously low price, and he'd look at me with a straight face like I was that stupid to believe memory foam for a huge king was just a hundred bucks.
I realized then that this dude was rich too.
I mean, was there some rule that said every wolf shifter was rich?
How did he even get that kind of money?
He was in construction, but I had to know just how much they got paid in construction. I was sure we spent up to 40 grand and I wasn't exaggerating it.
We stopped on our way home and bought some takeout. We were both tired and I couldn't make him cook after all the stress we just got through furnishing an entire house.
We pulled up in front of the apartment building to see a van parked in front in our parking spot.
We moved the car to another place and then made our way up.
When we got out of the elevator, some people were standing outside the door.
“Ma'am, we were sent to bring a delivery for Miss Sienna Halloway,” a woman with a clipboard said.
“Oh thanks. Where should I sign?” I asked her and she shook her head.
“Well, ma'am. We were instructed to set everything first before leaving, so you'll have to wait till we're done setting up before you sign,” the woman spoke and smiled.
“Umm okay?” I agreed.
What the fuck was this fucker setting up?
He had texted me after he got home and asked me for a list of all the things he destroyed. Then he'd texted me again for the pictures of my apartment so he could figure out what to get that fits in the space.
I had agreed and now he had a whole crew here.
I opened the door for them and turned to Kael.
“Let's go eat in your apartment while we wait for them,” I offered and he nodded.
“You can set everything up. I'll be in the next apartment. Knock on the door when you're done,” I instructed them and she nodded.
“Come on guys, let's get to work,” she instructed them and they all filed into my house.
Kael opened the door to his apartment and we stepped into the empty apartment.
We both sat on the floor and I collapsed, laying on the floor.
“Why does he have to go all overboard about it?” I mumbled.
“We destroyed your house, so it's only fair that we fix it,” Kael said with a somber tone.
I leaned on my elbow and looked up at him.
“Heyy, you don't have to worry about it. You were defending yourself. That asshole was the one who started it,” I reminded him, but he didn't look like he believed my words.
“I will make it up to you.” This stubborn man.
“Well, I look forward to it then,” I sighed.
“Come on, let's finish our takeout. I'm starving,” I grinned, digging into it.
As we ate, he slid a takeout box of mozzarella sticks towards me.
“You don't want them?” I asked, pulling them to my side.
“I don't like mozzarella sticks,” he answered honestly.
“Why get it though?” I asked, confused.
“It's a habit from years ago when I used to have someone who'd eat it for me,” he looked away.
Someone?
Who was that person that influenced him so much that he still had a habit from when they were together till today?
What happened between them?
Did the person break up with him because he was a lone wolf?
Was that why he didn't call me after I gave him my number? Did he not find me attractive?
Was he still in love with them?
There was a knock on the door as we finished eating and I stood up and walked to the door.
“We're done, Miss Halloway. You can come check everything out,” the woman spoke up and I nodded.
Sure.
I made my way out of the empty apartment and made my way to my door.
She opened the door and my jaw almost dropped.
I could only stare in shock.
Did that fucker ask them to redesign my house?
I was both pissed and impressed.
It was still my style; it was just more expensive.
Fucking rich asshole.
