Chapter 106: Cyber Violence

Lorenzo?

This lawyer was actually working for Lorenzo?

Could it be that there really was something wrong with this project?

Daphne suddenly realized her mind was failing to keep up. Instinctively edging closer, she strained to catch every word the two were exchanging, desperate to verify whether her suspicions held any truth.

She quietly moved closer, sitting behind them and using the menu to hide her face.

"Did you get everything done that I asked?" Lorenzo smiled faintly, his eyes gleaming with confidence.

Jagger nodded immediately. "Mr. Anderson, rest assured. The people from the nursing home are still in the hospital, and the public is very concerned about this issue. The media has already blown it up, even affecting the Anderson Group's stock price. They definitely won't let Lewis off easily!"

The two men exchanged a satisfied smile, clearly thinking their plan was flawless.

Daphne could hardly believe it. She never imagined these two would do something like this.

They were willing to harm the company's interests just to take down Lewis?

"Miss, can I take your order?" The waiter, seeing Daphne sitting alone for so long without ordering, hurried over to ask.

The voice caught Lorenzo's attention. He turned around casually, only to see Daphne sitting behind him.

Remembering what he had just said, his expression changed slightly but quickly returned to normal. He looked at Daphne with a surprised smile. "Daphne? What a coincidence! Are you here for a meal too?"

Daphne felt a wave of fear seeing his enthusiastic demeanor, so different from just moments ago.

For a moment, she couldn't tell which version of him was the real one.

Since she had been spotted, Daphne didn't try to change the subject. Instead, she stood up and walked over to Lorenzo.

"Mr. Anderson, I heard everything you said. You drugged the elderly in the nursing home, didn't you?" she asked. "You did this to force Lewis out, right?"

By the end, Daphne's voice was trembling. She couldn't believe how dirty Lorenzo was.

Seeing the disgust and suspicion in her eyes, Lorenzo felt a pang of discomfort.

Initially, he had approached her to use her, but somewhere along the line, things had changed.

Now, he cared deeply about what she thought of him.

"Daphne, I think you misunderstood." Lorenzo spoke earnestly.

"Jagger may work for me, but I'm doing this for the Anderson Group. With this issue blowing up, Lewis can't step in. I'm here to negotiate for the Anderson Group, for the Anderson family."

In the past, Daphne would have believed him.

But now, she had seen his true colors and would never trust his words again.

However, she didn't say more. A woman facing two men must first ensure her own safety.

She didn't want these two to turn on her in desperation.

Thinking of this, Daphne's expression changed, and she smiled. "Oh, I see. I must have misunderstood you. I'm sorry."

Seeing her genuine apology, Lorenzo relaxed.

The plan was in its final, crucial stage. No one should cause trouble now, not even Daphne.

He waved her over. "Since we're here, let's have a meal together."

"No need. You have important matters to discuss. I'm just here for a quick bite. I have something to do soon, so I'll just get my food to go." Daphne spoke politely but backed away quickly, leaving the scene.

Watching her leave, Jagger felt uneasy. "Mr. Anderson, she clearly heard everything. She might ruin our plan! Should we have someone grab her and keep her locked up for a few days? Once our business is done, we can let her go."

Though Jagger wore a lawyer's suit, his real trade was peddling schemes that spit in the eye of justice. Illegal confinement wasn't some last resort for him — it rolled off his tongue as easily as citing case law.

Lorenzo knew this was the safest option, but after some hesitation, he shook his head. "Daphne is smart. She won't say anything."

Since when did he become so soft-hearted?

And so lenient towards a woman?

Jagger felt like he didn't recognize Lorenzo.

He thought for a moment, then nodded obediently. "I'll stir up the media again. As long as we can get Lewis out of the Anderson Group, any loss is worth it."

"Yes, do what you need to. I'll handle the rest." Lorenzo snorted, then stood up and walked out.

He walked quickly, but once outside, he didn't see the person he was looking for.

Daphne had intended to go to the office, but with the chaos there, she felt uneasy and didn't want to get caught up in it.

After some hesitation, she went home. It was clear Lorenzo was behind this, and Lewis was being framed.

With the public outrage and the internet filled with curses against Lewis, Daphne felt uneasy.

The tongues of modern netizens are as sharp as knives, especially when it comes to such shady affairs—they never hold back. The Anderson Group's official website comment section has now been completely overrun, with every inch of the screen flooded with curses demanding Lewis to fuck right off.

Daphne knew Lewis was strong and resilient.

But with such overwhelming abuse and severe online harassment, she wasn't sure if Lewis could withstand it.

Anderson Group,

In the CEO's office, Nolan cautiously looked at Lewis. "Mr. Anderson, you're now seen as a heartless capitalist. The internet wants you gone!"

Lewis could see and hear the flood of insults.

But he didn't care about the online noise. No one ever died from being insulted. The real issue was within the Anderson Group.

"Has the board reacted yet?" Lewis tossed his phone on the desk and raised an eyebrow at Nolan.
